The maintenance before this one was during Peak JP hours, but you wouldn't have noticed cos it was probably the wee morning during NA hours.

Have you noticed that the times given are all Pacific Time, as in West Coast, USA? That is the normal business day and I do believe I've seen some of the PlayOnline announcements that they are in California. You do not want to deal with the payroll HR crappy issues that come about when working "alternative" shifts in Calli - insantiy? O, yes! Most states keep their labor code to under 700 rules - dear Calli is at 9000 & counting!

Probably because in the NA peak times it's the middle of the night in Japan, where the actual servers are located...

Has anyone else ever realised that everytime there's maintenance there's always someone who complains about it been in their peak hours?

Try coming home from work at 6pm, and finding out you can't log on to FFXI until 9/10pm by which time there's no way you can play for long because you have to be up early the next morning for work.

Least you can play in the evening.

P.s. I'm in Europe in case your wondering.

I feel your pain, I live in the Netherlands and IF there is an update it always starts when I get home and end when I need to go to bed. It's really frustrating.
However these times are at JP midnight, so it is their downtime.

Yeah, personally I don't mind to be honest. I've played some MMORPG's before who seem to have days upon days of downtime. Granted might miss one night of playing couple of times a month (if that) with ffxi, but makes the game far better and there's always something else to do while waiting.

Since when is the middle of the afternoon peak hours? The vast majority of people are at work/school (Ok, not so much school during the summer, but definetly other parts of the year).

No, this isn't peak hours. It's only peak hours for people who don't have jobs, but for them, peak hours are all day long. Kinda hard to schedule an update for a time not during a 24 hour period.

No...it means that you didn't actually have to have a 100 level craft in order for your xbox live profile to say that you do.

It has 0 impact on FFXI, it's more like an accomplishment listing for those to see what you've done in game. This just said they did something they didn't.

Realise that not *all* of the 'xbox peeps' are new recruits into FF11. There are a good number that are veteran players who happen to have bought a 360 and play the game on it. It is quite conceivable for one of them to have a 100 tradecraft, bug aside.

It's true. I'm one of them. I've been playing since the game came out for PC, and I recently switched to playing on the 360 because I was getting tired of having to install all of the updates all over again every time I reinstalled Windows. (Yeah I know, my highest character is 37, blah blah blah. The reason for it is that I only play when I don't have a girlfriend, which means I don't play all that much. What can I say? Actual girls > Guys pretending to be girls in FFXI.)

3 more hours, after the update was extended 3 more hours last time.

if i told my boss that i needed 3 more hours to finish a job, then we had to go back a week or so later and spend 3 more hours on it, i'd probably be fired.

all in all, i dont mind, i enjoy the time off. mabye i'll go outside.

Bah. A update to fix the update just to fix the update again.

Life is like that, all software needs fixing here and there when it is something that is needed to be upgraded. If you run on a software that requires updates there are bound to be bugs, no matter what.
Bah.

Rather another maintenance than a buggy game. And after all there hasn't been any 8-12 hour maintenance recently.. *cough*jinx*cough* ;)
