Come join us for the first-ever SOE Block Party! This community event will be held during the 2006 San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 22 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Even if you're not attending Comic-Con this year, stop by the Block Party, anyway!

The Block Party will also feature guided tours of the SOE buildings, prize raffles, food, drinks and other assorted goodies. There will also be SOE game demos, including a sneak peak at the upcoming PlayStation®3 title, Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom !

Come and meet SOE dev team members and staff—you may even get a chance to drop them in the dunk tank! You'll also have the opportunity to meet acclaimed fantasy author R.A. Salvatore along with comic writer and The Matrix Online storyteller, Paul Chadwick.

Busses will shuttle attendees from the San Diego Convention Center from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM (Look for the SOE signs near section B of the Convention Center). Return trips to the Convention Center will be running every half hour until 7:00 PM. For those of you coming on your own, we highly recommend carpooling, as parking will be limited.

i'm seriously cracking up here... nerdfest 2006 :)

so many flashbacks of tv shows and movies with conventions, and people freak out on the developers or actors about stupid stuff that just DOESNT matter!
kinda makes me wanna watch Galaxy Quest LOL

Smi, you have a good point, and I won't deny I have the urge to complain about it, I could blame it on human nature but the truth is that SoE hasn't been running EQ for 7 years, more like about half that time. There is a big difference in how the game was run and what happened within. I've made plenty of friends and had 2 RL guild-getogethers in the past 4 years, and it is a game that should be enjoyed as much as a game can... but it doesn't change the fact that the current dev team has ignored anyone that didn't like the recent changes, and if not ignored then succeeded very well in letting those who didn't like it know they don't care. I've lost a number of commrades who had enough of the nonsense over the last patch. Whether you think they're just being unreasonable about it or not I don't care but the underlining point is as of late SoE has made it clear the little people dont count, it's all about this supposed big plan over the next year, irrelevant to the players wants or needs. Take it how you want.

Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom looks like WoW. Sony seems to be leaving the good parts of EQ out of thier games. EQ's original in so many ways and they wonder why EQ2 wasn't a smash hit. IMO, it's because they don't keep the important things that make the game fun.

You can fly in EQ, Levitate. Well anyhow, just my oppinion.

People that hate Sony so much should probably just stop playing Everquest. If it causes you so much internal angst, why bother? There is a thing called Real Life that starts to happen when you stop playing Everquest. You have a choice to play and deal with the bugs that come with it or, if that doesn't work, then you can always leave. I think that people just like to ***** about things.

Personally, I think they do a great job keeping hundreds of thousands of people entertained for the last seven years. We have made some great friends, seen some cool stuff and had fun in the process. So what if Mob_001 is hitting .93% harder. Big deal if RandomSpell_32 is doing 13 points less damage than before the patch. It's a game. Have fun.

I am mad that I have to be out of the country when the Block Party takes place. I would love to go there and see where it all happens. Their job can't be an easy one and I give mad props to them for having the skill to be able to do it, even if it's not perfect. I am definitely envious of those of you who will be able to attend.
