Quick question...

How is it that Halo beat FF to the Walk in the first place? Don't get me wrong, awesome game and all, but methinks the paradigm created by some of the innovations FF brought along with it are a tad bit more important than smooth controls mixed in with purty graphics and an okay story.
This is sad

This is sad. Not to say that FF or any of the top tier games in the list don't deserve to be there, but FF, Starcraft and Everquest have online cmomunities built around them. It is the very basis of the game (MMO). But a much more deserving game will not get the votes b/c it doesnt have that MMO aspect. Doom. That is right. Doom more then any of those games deserves the award.

Without FF, you would be missing out on an FF series. Without Starcraft, well, you would miss out on Starcraft. but without Doom, there is an entire branch of the gaming genre that would be missed.

That's an arguable point, as I don't doubt that FPS would become its own genre at a certain point without Doom, but I'd have to agree with you for the most part.

I'm surprised Half-Life isn't as close to the top as it should be.

Little dissapointed no Dragon warrior/quest as nominee (started RPGs, basis for FF, in Japan outsells FF), no Sakaguchi (sp?), and that Halo won in the first-year (Halo was awesome, but too many history-defining series left out). There is one redeeming quality though, GTA ain't winning (lots of other games deserve their place before GTA, regardless of your personal GTA stance).

The winners from first year individuals are spot-on, but this year seems to be overrun by MMORPGs, but I guess thats to be expected seeing as it's on online poll.

I voted, but it seems like there were many fine characters and games left out. I'd love to vote for Guybrush Threepwood as a character, or Max Payne for an innovative series (the graphic novel noir style is even cooler than the bullettime). And of course there are many more RPG series that should be on the ballot. Afterall, if Final Fantasy has a chance, Phantasy Star, Dragon Quest, and Lunar should too.

Hate to be a hater, but with the game support of late from SE regarding FFXI Online... would be hard to lend them my vote.

Overall I give the Final Fantasy series a 9.8 out of 10 though. Great content and I've always enjoyed the games. Sad to see them falter on their most recent endeavour.

Beaten to it. It should be a simple http://www.walkofgame.com/. Also note that you need to register on the site, but it doesn't take more then a minute and is only for a fair vote. =D

Edit: Messed with my link too. Just copy and paste. XD
