glad they finally put something like blockaid in! I can't even count the times where I'd be fighting something and some inexperienced (or just plain not thinking) player would happen along then try "help" by curing me when I wasn't in immediate danger then BOOM hate gets switched to them and they run off with my monster.
Claiming NMs

The update seems to do exactly what it should.

Have camped Hoo Mjuu and consistently found a gil seller with bot claim the NM. Tonight was on for a time after the update and a friend who was in party with me twice claimed it before the bot. Quite simply they appear to have built in just sufficient delay to allow a normal human reaction to the appearance of the mob to claim it if that reaction is rapid.

I don't believe that SE are fools and they have probably worked this out very carefully. It does not in any way prevent claiming with Provoke or Flash or similar - it just seems to be impossible for an instant reaction by a bot to claim it - and that's great if it continues to be the case!
botting issue
# Aug 01 2005 at 7:33 PM Rating: Decent
alls i have to say for everyone that thinks they made it easier for botters to claim ur all idiots they made it possible for normal ppl like us to get the claim.

Since there is a Set time period before you can use abilities and magic on a NM while it pops hm... lets seee u could um... Derr.... Oh thats right use a ranged weapon like maybe a pebble or Machine Crossbow or Lbow hell if u want you could use a Hellfire and still beat someone to a claim. Come on ppl its not rocket science actually think about this stuff before you go making false acusations on the purpose of SE doing this.

Macan Gadungan > Kirata?

I don't understand why they changed the name of this NM. Can anyone shed some light on it?

I googled it, and Macan Gadungan is Javanese for "were-tiger," like a werewolf, which makes perfect sense because this is a Tiger NM. The only Kirata I could find was an alter-ego of the god Shiva, which he assumed in order to test the strength of the hero Arjuna.

I'm just curious, because I've been hunting Macan Gadungan lately...

Well.

because theres already another Macan Gadungan.

He's a Courel(sp?) in a BCNM.

An there a bit more tigerish i guess.

and the Highlander rule tends to apply to the game. there can be only one!

Ohhh, I see! Didn't know another one was in a BCNM. Didn't they do that with another mob or item or something...?

Oh! Yes, the Lucky Egg. The Fortune Egg used to be called the Lucky Egg, but there was already a Lucky Egg.

I guess the game is so big, it's hard to keep track.

hate to break it to you but now were gonna see botters that are War/BST or BST/war and they're spamming will be voke then charm if voke doesnt claim it time passes and charm will. so provoke get's Used. Probably like when your JA's get para'd the cooldown kicks in without being used but then you have charm a split second later. If i were a chinese gilseller hell bent on owning every monster that's what i'd do
Fellowship NPC's Signal Pearl replacement

i think it is about time they fixed the replacement of the Signal pearls. Even with the worsening of compactability between NPCand player for a time is better than not being able to call them at all.

Dont assume it will stop Provokes lol.
No one knows how long the wait is.
I may be a milli second just to stop packet sniffers as some have stated already.
We will have to find out by actuly trying them out.

I can tell you. The wait is indeed somewhere around 100-500 milliseconds. I just camped Argus for around 3.5 hours, and consistently outclaimed everyone on bat pops, or at worst traded claim with a MNK friend of mine who was aware of the delay. Everyone else stood around spamming their JA or MA, and were halted mid-cast or use.
The purpose of blockaid
# Aug 01 2005 at 3:50 PM Rating: Decent
Imagine this:

You spend 2-3 hours waiting for (insert NM name here.) There are a couple other players around you. When the NM pops, you get claim first. The other players are mad, and, because they are jerks, when your health drops to about 50% they cast Cure IV on you, causing the NM to run after them.... they run away. You lose sight of the NM, put away your weapon, and they claim it.

Might not sound like the greatest idea but if you feel like your about to put your weapons aways you should "call for help" lol. that way, if you would of lost claim no one can get the drop...and both of you are pissed off instead of just the original claimer

Ya, but if you lose claim it's because you're too stupid too do a "/blockaid on" before you camp the NM. This command completey stops others from doing causing you to lose hate and claim now.

They just made it easiers for bots to claim. A bot is more likely to get the exact ammount of time needed to wait than a human could.

This pretty much makes single-wield dagger with low delay, i.e. Hornetneedle, Platoon Dagger, Beestinger the fastest claim method now. I'm absolutely happy about this, since my THF has been absolutely steamed about getting beat to the claim by vokemaster and castmaster gilsellers. And then there's Flee...

So now, thieves have the utmost purpose in HNMLS's, CLAIMING.
Huh?

"Fellowship NPCs will now disappear after defeating a predetermined number of enemies even if the NPC remains in battle mode."

Wait, they already DO dissapear after a predetirmined number.(Mine did last night.) So does this just mean that the number is smaller or something? I'm a bit confused... =/
RE: Huh?
# Aug 01 2005 at 3:43 PM Rating: Decent
Apparently, if you were fighting multiple monsters with your NPC and continued to do so without stopping a fight, you could fight more than just 15 monsters. Wish I knew that before.

They already DO dissapear after beating a predertermined set.(My dissapeared last night and I didn't even click on her. She just said she had to go.) I guess I'm just a bit confused... Did they mean that they won't dissapear? Or that the number is going to be less?

i think thats mainly for the people that were claiming NM before they even popped. But yeah, the GS will just forget out the time needed, and adjust their bots as needed
