The Depths of Darkhollow: It's Official

Sony has made it official: The 10th EverQuest expansion, Depths of Darkhollow, is set to be released in September of 2005. Details can be found on the newly opened official Depths of Darkhollow website. The official plug: On the surface, as the battle between Firionia Vie and Lanys T’Vyl continues to rage throughout the lands of Nektulos, an expedition of Qeynosian miners breached the barrier of Darkhollow. Only then was the first werewolf seen and the first human bitten. Now a new evil begins to emerge from the underground; far beneath the surface of Norrath. Join EverQuest: Depths of Darkhollow and journey into a world of immorality and devastation, a world that has existed purely as a vast wilderness filled with intelligent predators, destruction and disease. Go forth with courage as the terror that lies deep within these grounds must not be allowed to spread to the surface – to Norrath. EverQuest: Depths of Darkhollow will have you adventuring in raw, bleak caverns and facing the most formidable monsters yet! Featuring 5 new feral predators, spectacular new underground environments and countless new missions, raids and events! Monster Missions: Play EverQuest as you never have before and see Norrath through the eyes of some of its fearsome and powerful creatures as you step into their form to do battle against their ancient foes! Change into a creature with different abilities from your own to experience. Experience EverQuest lore first hand through the eyes of another character in Monster Missions and unlock the ability to use more powerful monsters! Spirit Shrouds: Adventure with your friends of any levels. Spirit Shrouds will allow you to play as a creature at any level below your own. So don the form of a lower level creature and join your friends in battle while earning experience for your normal character! Evolving Items: Earn new items that advance as you use them, becoming more powerful over time and unlocking hidden abilities and wield intelligent items with a personality of their own! New Missions: Battle your way through over 60 new missions. New Creatures, New Environments and New Encounters: Over 30 unique creatures and 7 Zones, 15 Small Instances, with a re-envisioned Nektulos Forest. New Crafting, Spells, Items and More: New items and tradeskill recipes! Also new spells and alternate advancement abilities!

I don't get it. EQ has a ton of problems already. Broken quests, laggy areas, etc etc etc ... Why are they still spending time and resources on new expansions when they should be fixing what they have already first? /ponder .......

OK, go adn collect the data on every broken quest in the game.........

A.) It takes a huge ampount of time. Time that could be better spent on Content that is actually used.

B.) Maybe it isnt broken. Maybe the anwer to the quest isnt just given to u.

The point is this, The manpower to fix t would better be utilized on cirrent content. Hell SOE has said that theres still 3000 items in the game that NO ONE has seen yet, and that are totaly avilible if someone was to get up adn find them.

SO Stop ******** and go make a database of allt eh broken quests in the game and come back

I love all of you "stop ************** posters, because you are just flaming lemmings without a clue...

Allegedly, that has been done since day 1 of EQ... it's called Bug Reporting. In reality, they have fixed maybe 1 percent of the bugs.

Oh, well pardon US paying consumers for interrupting the company's precious time. Carry on then.

Perhaps players could use it if it wasn't broken? Just a thought there, Einstein.

Is this the same SOE that promised pre-ordering customers "updated player graphics that would reduce lag tremendously" in the last expansion, only to have that post disappear from their forum the day before that expansion was released minus those graphics?

Why should we? SOE has already said they made one.

---------------

Bottom line... If you want something to change or improve, you MUST complain or it won't ever get done. A company that listens to its customers is a company that will keep its customers. SOE is not one of those companies, but they will keep, survive on, and sponge off of, the apathetic consumers like yourselves who will be the last remaining 1000 players if their Modus Operandi continues as-is.

Personally, I think SOE is trying to keep the players interested. They just have some extremely bad ideas right now. Play as a monster? Yeah, um, that's interesting for maybe 3 hours total.

If that - yeah.

I don't think that's much fun. So what's this - play with any level thing? Kinda goofy - I mean, not the idea of playing with any level, but you have to play some monster to do it?

I'm guessing here - so that you can get your 68 Ranger XP, by playing some lowbie mob and grouping with your level 20 friend's cleric?

Still, I'd like to see other stuff just fixed - yeah, the expansions are just coming out way too fast for me. It's not an issue of money as much as my ability to keep up. Some are even worse off than me. I just can't devote enough time to keep up with this game, I'm thinking.

Sony's making half the players smirk with how uber they are and the other half is just getting further behind. If you can't devote 8 hours a day at least to the game, you seem to just get further behind.

So now half the people will come out and say "I suXXorz for not keeping up, cause I'm a newb" - or "if you can't keep up, don't play".

Sure, I might just take that advice - but you might start wondering if they do another server merge... You know, this game does require other real people to play with. Well, I guess you could solo forever, but to what end? I should know - most of the decent drops aren't going to be taken solo...

It's because people aren't paying them to fix things. Why should they spend the time fixing a quest when they can spend the time making a new expansion that people will pay for. As long as people continiue to buy new expansions, they will continue to make them.
Hopefully this will be good

I hope it will come in september. Having been to every zone in the game and killed every mob there is except the Sleeper, I for one look forward to some new dungeon crawling and head bashing. Wish they would use old zones as entry points to newly created zones however instead of setting up totally new "expansion islands". The technique they have used before tends to depopulate the "old" expansion areas once they new ones are open, except for teleport hubs like PoK.
buggy programing

lol sony/verant has never allowed buggy programing or incomplete content to delay a release.it will be out on the day they say it will . bazzar was in game a year before they actually made it usable .

Not ANOTHER expansion! I hope it does get delayed and give players some time to catch up. There's already gaps in classes that re-envisioning is trying to fix, plenty of lands to explore that some of us haven't even touched, worthless AAs that should be fixxed, and almost worthless spells. I know I don't speak for every class, but there are some serious issues they need to fix first before brazeningly throw out another expansion. Remember when DoN came out with the huge raid encounters when pushing mini-bosses or a boss in the wall would cause the WHOLE zone to crash due to a coding-pathing related problem. The funny thing about THAT problem, which took them long time to fix, was it didn't even register on their instruments. Sony needs to make sure they do a better job with this expansion or I bet this messed up stuff will happen again.

Well, that push through the wall thing was most likely a carry-over from the conversion to DX9. PoTime was like that also soon after the conversion. Most likely they work on all this stuff at once, and release segments assuming to be good content. I really wish they would just "hire" a guild to actually test stuff, but then we would be complaining that it takes too long between expansions.

I think SOE needs to fix what they have! Instead of squeezing us every 6 months for another 25 bucks, maybe they should spend a little more time and fix issue with what they have.

Oh lord! I still have barely touched the last 3 expansions. I have to quit real life and start playing EQ more often, hehe.

10:1 odds it's delayed until November
