i just want add something about jp player,i'm not racist at all,but when you play NM as example
have you seen already a full pt of jp ppl hunting NM it's amazing the thing did'nt spawned yet it's already claimed and spawn purple why?
hi call a GM TO ASK WHY IT DOES SPAWN PURPLE THE GM SAID,because the player are closer to the server than you,so that meam you don't have a chance do voke it cause the NM spawn first for the jp
and i don't talk about bots
i made an investigation about bots i didn't know what it was
no i know,i went on a US website and read o lot of thing about bots and the best for that are jp player(again)
the can voke the NM at 0.1 second before it spawn
how they can do that, they just have a third party software and run a script as visual basic and this software can read the memory in the game and know when the NM will spawn
if you want see that by yourself go to do some big NM with good drop like arguus or mee degi the punisher you will see
i saw some player fight the NM WITHOUT SOMEONE ON THE COMPUTER JUST WHERE THE NM SPAWN AND RUN SCRIPT
THE SCRIPT SPAM VOKE TILL THE NM SPAWN BUT THE SCRIPT KNOWS WHICH MOB TO VOKE
AND THEY HAVE SCRIPT FOR FISHING FARMING CRAFTING ETC
SO I THINK PUT ALL JP PLAYER ON THE SAME SERVER AND THE REST OF THE WORLD TOGETHER
anyway if you ask a jp player to join an us pt most of tue time they say no english pt
so why they are with us?and i want add i'm not racist just wanna play like a normal player don't need to cheat for win what i need

Dude, I totally agree with you on that. You are the first person to clearly say what is wrong with SE and most Japanese people. When was the last time someone in your party English speaking only? Now compared that to Japanese Party Only <thank you>. <Hmm.> Is it so wrong to say that and that now classify me as the racist but not the one who decline your request for invite cause you do not speak Japanese? <Um> How about those updates and maintenance that only seems to be planned on American play times and the oh so great timing of a maintenance on Labor Day. Granted that was moved back but can some be really that blind and easily fooled? I have yet to see a update or maintenance happen on Japan prime time and the fact that they do these maintenance during the night in Japan? That doesn't seem right unless there is intent in that. All I ask is of Square is to make maintenance shared between us and japan and soon europe peak times and also start doing something about those damn bots cause I work damn hard to raise those skill just for someone who is asleep while their bot stands and waits for Deggi the punisher and get their easy 400k they go for on Phoenix.

You mean you are upset because the JAPANSE Company doesn't change the game, creates in JAPAN by JAPANESE people?

We are talking about the same game, right? The game created for JAPAN, imported from JAPAN, played by the JAPANESE for a year before us idiots showed up, and is from a JAPANESE series of games, also imported from JAPAN to the US.

No offense...........no, make that Take offense, but we are guests to their world. The very fact that they take the time to translate millions of line of text, include the auto-translate feature, and provide still extrememly high-bandwith for America shows how much they have done for us.

And let me tell you know, the Japanese should feel allowed to dump an American party because we have ruined a great world for them. Compared to the Japanese, we are rude, obnoxious, and crude. How many times do you see a Japanese person putting in Auto-translate for a Mithra Hand Job? How many times do you see a Japanese person shouting a stupid Casino every 10 seconds? Or how about a Japanese sale?

At the very most I see 2-3 lines of Japanese shout a day. Americans live in stupid shouting.

The day you get wise and actully party with a Japanese group, you will be shocked by the kindness, manners, and civility. And heaven forbide you actually get to visit. You will come back learning what pricks we Americans are.

dude...they didnt translate the game out of kindness, they did it to make even more money than they were making. they added like 300,000+(probably a lot more than that) subscribers when they brought the game to america. And how the hell did we ruin the game for them? We're not guests, we have just as much right to play the game as they do. And i too feel that maintenance should be on amierican prime time and half of the time on JP prime time, but im not sure if thats possible since it is a JP company and i doubt they are willing to work through the night just to make it fair for us EN players. I imported the JP version way before the EN release and i have to tell you, the game hasnt changed much. And there are just as many shouts in Jeuno as before the EN launch. So before you post anti-english crap on a website, make sure your making since and not just listening to bits and peices of what you hear by a few uninformed players ingame ;)

Finally a person with intelligence and as I also imported the game way before it came out to us here in America. Thanks but I take classes on how to speak Japanese and most of them do say they do not want to share the same servers either, granted not all, I know a few who are incredible nice but too bad there are far many bad attitude ones compared to the nice.

The Magnificent? I doubt that, but anyways if you took the time to read that he said at the very beginnning that he was french and that his translation was gonna be bad. At least he is trying to play with other people and not just say I speak french and if you don't I don't wanna party. Honestly, there is no reason why a Japanese party should decline you for invite just because you do not speak Japanese. Why? Cause you only need to find out <What's the battle plan?> <Skillchain>? And also almost all the spells are in the Auto-translate function and we have been giving plenty of macro option given by square to say stuff like /p Jenoru <Dispel> <bt>. Not ever I have been in a party where someone in that group said do not invite the Japanese cause they don't speak english.

Well, forgive the hell out of me for thinking that someone who writes something in English should actually know the language.

For your information, I did read his post. You should've read the post as well. If you had, you would've seen that the time what's-his-face posted another message saying he was French was about 45 minutes after my last post. I was responding to another post of his that said nothing about his nationality. If he'd mentioned that his English wasn't good in his first post, I wouldn't have said a thing.

So, English isn't his first language? Okay. I don't know French very well, but I'm sure they use punctuation marks in their sentences. You didn't seem to have a problem using proper punctuation in your post, and wouldn't ya know, I was able to understand it! And you know what else? I agree with you! I even rated you up, despite the fact that you rated me down and took a shot at me, because I'm just such a sickeningly nice person.

I'll even edit my posts, since I now know that what's-his-face isn't an English speaker.

You know what-- the bottom part of this post makes sense. Since there are inequities in server timings, and language barriers do often lead to declined (or not offered) party invites, why not keep the regional players separate? This would also allow for world maintenances to be done at convenient times for the players allocated to each server. Interesting thoughts...
RE: jp player
# Sep 14 2004 at 4:23 PM Rating: Excellent
I'd pay an extra $5 a month if they would separate JP servers from the rest, or at least make SOME servers separated so that those who still wanna play with JP players (though I don't know why, since they don't wanna play with us) still can. There's a lot of good reasons for it, some already mentioned:

- Never again will you have to go through...

>>Jpplayer: [Excuse me.] [Party] [Looking for members.] [Interest?]

Jpplayer>>: [I don't speak any English.] JP ONLY!!!

OR...

Jpplayer>>: <insert a bunch of Japanese text> that's usually asking if you wanna PT>???

>>Jpplayer: [Please use the auto-translate function.] [I don't speak any Japanese.]

(Jpplayer never responds from that moment on)

I find it funny how a party making 5k an hour asks a JP to join when someone leaves, and he refuses because we're not JP. I check /search 2 hours later and he's still looking for a party. They'd rather gain no exp at all than gain a lot of exp with a NA party, just because we're not Japanese. Idiots.

- The server latency thing is a big issue with NMs as we all know, especially when they're running a bot

_________________

I realize there are SOME JP players that will party with non-JPs, but the majority of them won't. Some because they're just too lazy and/or stupid to use the auto-translator effectively (it's quite easy to communicate pretty much anything battle related with the translator if you have an IQ higher than an amoeba), and the rest just assume that because you're not Japanese, you're an idiot and don't know how to play the game. Granted there ARE a lot of incredibly stupid NA players, but there's also a lot of very stupid JP players as well. Anyone who says otherwise is just a fanboy.

But the bottom line is most of us are willing to play the game with them, but most of them refuse to play the game with us. So what's to gain by mixing NA and JP players together? Nothing.

If SE opened NA and JP only servers for an extra $5 a month or whatever (even though they should do it for free), I'd still pay it. Just because I'm so sick and tired of hearing JP ONLY!!!!!!!!
RE: jp player
# Sep 14 2004 at 5:11 PM Rating: Decent
On the rare occasion that I do party with a Japanese player, it's always a pleasant experience...so the vast majority of them being of the "JP PT ONLY" persuasion is worth it, I think.

Just wait for the Europe release...then it'll not only be "JP ONLY", it'll be "Francais only", "Italiano only", etc.

...and at that time, similar to what I do now, my search comment will always have "NA/JP/EU PT OK! ^_^" somewhere in it.

I am not gonna say that isn't going to happen with EU party only! But, I highly doubt that will happen since a vast amount of people over there do speak English as a second language. I know for a fact that they do cause my aunt and uncle live in sweden and I been on many trips over to europe and was surprised how many spoke English.

Just one thing I noticed amidst all the ranting...

People have been complaining about the 12.95 a month charge to play the game. Also the people who stated their complaints, seem to play a LOT.

Now, there are at the very least, 696 hours a month ((24*28)), with an average of around 740 hours a month. 12.95 is not very much for that amount of available gameplay. Then you say they should reduce the fee after a day or two of maintenance? psh.

Think about it, Chains of Promathia is being released in a mere week. Not to mention, being introduced to Europe. They have to make sure everything is nearly flawless, which is hard in such an expansive game such as this ((think of the miles and miles of code involved in this)) so that the european customers are impressed and stay involved.

So they have to extend maintenance due to unforseen instances, so what? Would you like to be involved in one of those unforseen instances? ((For instance, the people who have had their game frozen just by talking to an NPC.))

So quit flaming SE, they are doing they best they can. They are not being racist, otherwise they wouldn't have sold us the game in the first place. They are not being discriminatory, attempting to get everything done in time for the peak times.

They are not being unfair by scheduling the maintenance at this time of day. If you take a look, the time period they schedule maintenance for is the time period that has the lowest TOTAL traffic, not just the lowest Japanese traffic. It is after JP prime time, but before NA prime time.

I see most of people complaining here haven't played any other MMORPG... If anyone else have played Ragnarok online should know that the service on FF is excellent (and should know the true meaning of the word rollback) i quit playing IRO cause the extremely bad service. Even people complaining of the hours that maintenance takes place don't figure that this hours are even worse for european players (that will pay more monthly: 13€ not 13$, for a game realased one year later) like me (but i have NA version), so don't talk to me of being prejudiced.

Most of us, while many are more than likely deserving, will never get to be in a position able to deal with the true injustices of the world.

Because of that, the best we can do is play this game for a few hours a day and try to forget all that rot. That's why people get upset when their escape isn't available to them.

I agree with most people saying there's more to do rather than play games, so people shouldn't be mad.

However we ARE paying 12.95$ a month to play(I pay more since i pay in CDN currency), so in a way we're losing money. But technically, we're losing money everytime we don't play regadless.

So I don't complain TOO much about the maintenance right now. There's an expansion pack comming out in 7 days, I'm pretty hyped about that. And I know everyone wants the transition to be smooth, so I see these updates as a sign to make sure that happens.

Don't get me wrong, I too would like to farm a bit more, exp a bit more and camp that damn NM a bit more too. But SE has been very good to us to offer this great game, and the server maintenance has been reoccuring only as of late.

Also, because of FFXI, I am saving $$$ on games themselves. Think about it, without FFXI, I would be paying 50-80$ a game(PC or PS2). I beat games faily fast, so I used to buy on avg. 2-3 games a month. So do the math : 3 x avg. 65$ = 195$ minus taxes. Compared to the initial 70$ i paid for ffxi and 12.95$ a month. I'd say that's a godsend, because the ONLY game I've played since getting FFXI last March, was DOOM3.

About the maintenance being during our primetime hours, I deal with it. I mean, the entire FF series HAS originated from Japan so they had it first, but that doesn't mean we should be left in the dark either. There should be a system where during maintenance, we are not charged so instead of paying 12.95$ a month, during maintenance they should at least reduce the amount since it's GUARANTEED NON-PLAYTIME.

So, anyway, that was my rant. Hope everyone could just calm down and take their girl/guy to the movies or for those who don't have a guy/girl, go find one with an interest in games :) It's fun. Or find a new Hobby. Or play an offline game. Or just go outside, enjoy your surroundings as if it were West Ronfaure or Rolanberry Fields.(Minus the deadly mobs of course).

P.S. No use fighting amongst ourselves over a problem that WE cannot fix. That's how wars get started and I believe FFXI players should prove that we are indeed a civilized yet non pussificated breed.

Enjoy

CoH isn't as involved as this game, but they don't have 8 hr maintenance. Maintenance is every day, around midnight est, and lasts at the most ... 2 min.

I actually wouldn't mind maintenance everyday on FFXI, but not for 8hrs. I mean, even an hr. a day wouldn't be too bad.

Unnecessary "Updates"
# Sep 14 2004 at 3:36 PM Rating: Decent
I've read some of the postings within this thread, and I am willing to agree they are trying to find the times with the least number of players on. I'd prefer them to at least rotate the day of the week, but I'll digress.

My real issue is the "New and Improved" POL interface. Why fix something that isn't broken? The new look just doesn't fit with the way it looked before, it never seems to actually work, and just is plain annoying to use.

People are within the POL environment for, what, 20 minutes or so, before going to their game of choice. So the original interface worked just fine.

Now they are having "issues" that a download will "fix". Of course, to me, the more they "fix" this game, the more "issues" that appear.

I am not complaining about the improvements in gameplay, or fixing of obvious errors. What I say is that we complain to SE about all of the useless changes that are now preventing us from even SEEING if the game is working -.-

Yes yes yes, the new menu is unnecessary, and it seems to take a lot longer to load than the old one.

I think they're doing it 'cause this new menu has the "top picks" thing where they can plaster up advertisements for other POL supported games that most people won't play. Notice one of those "top picks" is Tetra Master?

SE makes too damn much money to not do their job right, I'm sick of seeing maintenance times extended and glitches found in a LIVE product. This isn't a beta program folks, you should get what you pay for.

One more push to make me quit. All these updates are just making the game less and less fun to play.
