Its everything 1.0 should have been

I played 1.0, and it was horrible. When I heard that they were re-releasing the game, I laughed and thought nothing would come of it. Then I was in the beta test and fell in love. It was everything the game should have been. Its fun, immersive, and beautiful.
What do I like?

I admit, when I first heard about XIV being re-launched, I was skeptical. I'd heard such bad things about the original version of it, and I had a lot of doubt that the re-launch would fix anything. One of my best friends had played during 1.0, even owning the collectors edition of the game (and showing it to me somewhat proudly when I visited him one day). He even showed me some old screenshots of his character, as well as the benchmark that had been released for the new game. I still wasn't sold, but I liked the look enough that when the next open beta happened, I got the client and gave it a go with my friend.

I can honestly say from there on I was hooked. Whatever the reason it failed in the past, this game had a breath of fresh air that I had been looking for in an MMO for a while as I was sliding out of WoW with being unable to find a guild to gear and raid in. I've always loved the worlds and stories that Square Enix has crafted for their Final Fantasy games, and this one is no different. The story is captivating, the game is gorgeous (even moreso now that I have a desktop pc over a laptop), the dungeons are fun, the music is just fantastic...

There is no one reason why I like this game. There are so many reason why I like it. It's probably the most fun I've had with an MMO in a long time, and I hope the game keeps getting better.

I truly love the graphics and the way literally everything is so detailed. I'm the kind of gamer who enjoys having pretty things to look at when I'm owning on the battlefield. I also love how you can make each character unique and that there are no real set limitations to character creation. It makes character creating feel so real.

The biggest thing about FFXIV that I enjoy and appreciate is the raid game. I've been playing MMOs since I started in the early 2000s with EverQuest, and raiding has been my favorite feature of them the entire time. FFXIV offers well designed class roles and a fast action, demanding content that is satisfying both in how it looks and how it feels. On top of that, Square-Enix has demonstrated a real commitment to continued support for their end game with their recent content patches. Seeing new high end content every 3-4 months that isn't just rehashed versions of previously released stuff really makes the game feel fresh, and the subscription cost feel worthwhile.

What I love about About this game, is how beautiful it looks. How awesome the character creation is, just how vast the map of each area is so fantastic. Also it's Final fantasy what's not to love, I'm a big FF fan; I played this game before on the PS3 and I loved every minute of it, and well i don't have it anymore and I would love to have it again. :) On my new PC! :D
FFXIV is awesome

FFXIV is one of the best MMO's I've ever played. With numerous hours logged in WoW, Rift, Tera, Guild Wars 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, I've got loads of experience with MMOs and none has drawn me in quite like FFXIV: A Realm Reborn managed to do in the first few days of beta. I instantly knew I would love the game, though after reading more about it, I'm fairly upset I missed the 1.x gameplay, if only to have watched Dalamud crash down to earth and Bahamut awaken.
FFXIV is really good!

Oh, I love this game. I played the beta on PS4, and I was immediately hooked. I love the combat, the characters, and the story is great as well. There are so many quests, and there is never a dull moment. Winning this FFXIV Collector Edition would be really convenient for me, and I thank you for this opportunity!

I love the massive strides they made between what the game was when it first came out and ARR. It's literally two completely different games. Lots of changes for the better! Smiley: grin
It's just fun.

I love the boss fights, each with different mechanics~ the thrill of spending hours trying to defeat something very difficult, and the relief and happiness that come after winning.

I love everything about this game. The art style, the world, the sound, the music, the gameplay, the lore, everything. I've been playing it for about 4 months now and I'm still excited to log on every day.

Hildibrand. The man is sexy, inquisitive, and brilliant, even if by mistake. Everything about him is amazing. And thus makes FFXIV amazing.

When I heard about FFXIV: ARR, I couldn't wait. It's been everything I hoped for and more.

I suppose my favorite part has to be all the cultural references they put in. Many are subtle but they're just enough to make me smile.
Why Do I Love FFXIV?
# Apr 10 2014 at 5:52 PM Rating: Good
Why do I love FFXIV?

I started playing XI after Rise of the Zilart. I was instantly captivated by the idea of a multiplayer Final Fantasy game, but even that early on I didn't appreciate XI for what it was. It was still too early on in my XI career to really build and forge friendships that would last even today.

Why do I love FFXIV?

After years of playing XI, I found a core group of players that I never in a million years thought I'd meet or keep in such deep touch with. Tijan, or Michael as I've come to know him. Donjuan, or Donald. Eveielle, or Kelly, someone from high school who I never knew of until we found out we went to school together. Meowth, Fenrem, CptCrunch, Huytina, all of them I still see regularly today. We're a family. XI introduced me to a family that transcended distance and geography.

Why do I love FFXIV?

XI fit my high school days perfectly. Homework? I was a damn genius, homework wasn't a thing. What WAS a thing was grinding in parties, running sky, sea, etc. And these weren't isolated instances, either. These were memories built with friends and remembered by the community at large on your server. These memories were real, just as real as memories outside of the game.

Why do I love FFXIV?

Not everything was peachy in XI. We lost an IRL friend (we were all IRL friends) to a terrible domestic violence case with her boyfriend. Her family knew of us as people who played games with their daughter. Then they knew of us as real friends who were there during the last moments, all of us, and there to see our friend off. We were more than just pixels on a screen. We were a family.

Why do I love FFXIV?

Time caused us to drift apart. XIV 1.0 saw some of us out of the MMO scene for a while. We all kept in touch, but boy let me tell you, when 2.0 went into beta, we were there. All of us. We were there trying new things, exploring new things, reminiscing, slinging the old cuts out there and having a good time.

So, finally, why do I love FFXIV?

XIV isn't a game. Not really. I mean, sure, it technically is, but it's more than that to us. It's how we all met. Some people have a lot of history in a particular bar. We have that, too, but we have our finest moments and memories through XI, and we're forging new memories in our adult lives through XIV. We don't all have the same kind of time as we did back then. You know what, though? XIV was designed for people with lives in mind, and that makes things even for us. It gives us enough of a challenge to make us sweat, it gives us enough freedom to do what we want when we want, and it doesn't kill our family time to do it. It lets us continue to bond like we use to and to have our adventures like we use to. It's accessible for our new family members; fiancés, young kids taking their first steps into a world that brought us all together. It's new enough to surprise us pleasantly every time we turn around. It's a part of who we are.

You can see me as John Crist, financial advisor for American Express and business owner of The Crist Group. If you really wanna get to know me, though, you'll know Dare Knight, a zany Paladin and aspiring gardening expert. Maybe that makes us each a little crazy. I think it makes us a little more real :)
Success!

I have been very happy with FFXIV so far since its reboot. There are some small things I would love to see improved upon, but that happens with any MMO.

I love the storylines in the game and even the filler side quests have decent story to them.
So much love for FFXIV

There is so much I love about XIV but I mostly love that it is a way for my best friends and I, now separated by great distances, to still hang out and adventure together.

As a person whom played the original Final Fantasy 1 and consider it a favorite, seeing FFXIV launch again was something to behold. With all the characters, music, themes etc, this really brought me back to 90's. They have take years of development experience, quality of craftsmanship and overall fun, then created an immerse experience that not only the die hard fan but the causal person can pick up and enjoy.

Being able to play for hours on end, is something i had not done in years. All the shout outs to old games ( in quests, items, characters, etc) brought back memories of old. Playing a game all night, looking up strategies, practicing skills over and over till they were perfect. These are but a few things that really make Final Fantasy and its followers, something special.

It will only get better with time and i for one cannot wait to see what they come up with next.

I have been playing Final Fantasy games since I was 4 years old. I remember learning how to read so I could continue playing FFIII (US release). This game is just full of nostalgia with all of it's references to the past games while being fresh and modern at the same time. The musical score for the game is amazing and I love all of the different music for all of the area's. They all sound reminiscent of various tracks from all of the different games but are not simple remasters of them, and the theme song! It's amazing. I have only been playing ARR for about 3 months now but have fallen completely in love with the continent of Eorzea and all of the interwoven stories and references from past Final Fantasies. I am certain I will be enjoying this game for a long time to come! Thanks SE for creating a wonderful and immersive world!

I love the adventures I have with the friends I made. I started on Goblin server with a group of players that I played with for the past few years in FFXI. We had to leave some behind in Vanadiel, which is sad, but we've had such a great time and made plenty of new friends.
