CCP Wolfman aka Thomas Ferrer takes us through everything we need to know about weaponry
As we careen toward the unknown release date of DUST 514, CCP keeps trickling out information to tease us about their upcoming free-to-play shooter for the PlayStation 3. This time around, producer Thomas Ferrer, otherwise known as CCP Wolfman talks weapons, with a new developer diary video detailing everything you might need to know to get started.
Wolfman gives a run down of the different weapon classes (heavy, light and sidearm) along with how weapons differ in DUST 514 compared to other shooters:
"There are a huge array of different skills that you can train to affect how your weapon behaves"
As you play the game, you earn skill points which you can spend on training these unique abilities - quite reminiscent of EVE Online.
In case you're unfamiliar with the game, it's a persistent free-to-play shooter set in the notorious sci-fi universe of New Eden - the very same universe as EVE Online. And when they say the same universe, they mean it -- MMO players see and interact with the same planets that the FPS players are fighting on.
Although we don't yet know for sure when DUST 514 is to be released, it's certainly something to keep an eye on even if you're not a huge FPS fan. A game developer tying two video games together with one shared universe is intriguing, and I can't wait to see where it all leads.
