same here.... I just may look into it if square doesnt do something fast.... I may even boycott ff12, and trust me, I dont wanna do that.... UNLESS square does something FAST about customer complaints and hate mail. It seems obvious theres a smell of favoritism going on.... November is oh so close, Square.... Dont make me return CoP back, cause Im VERY close to...

well EQ is a great game but they spend to much time just keeping the servers running, ffxi is a great game and from time to time they need to upgrade and maintain the servers, and to fix bugs in the system so just wait it out and soon everything will be back in order gives me some time to get some stuff done.
Oh well.

Well, at least they're doing the maintenance now instead of waiting weeks after CoP is released, and having more and more people experience the critical bugs that were discovered. Better to get the wrinkles out now then wait until people complain about them. Sure, I'd rather play right now, too, but that's the breaks when a new expansion pack comes out. Just don't worry about it and play all those other games you've been neglecting due to FFXI. I know that's what I'm going to do right now. ^^ Besides, we can play later tonight, so it's not like it's the end of the world. And, if not tonight, then tomorrow.

"We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause"

is that sarcasm?

Us customers have to pay for the developers and server administrators faults :(

Next they'll say "Server maintenance has been extended indefinitely, please, be patient and keep paying your monthly fee. Seriously though, we apologize that we can't get it right the first time and need to do updates every 15 hours for 10 hours".

grrr, i'm done ***********

lol I wouldn't call it sarcasm exactly more like canned response that they tag onto any of the maintenance reports so they don't look like ******** (not that the defense is in any way effective.

I got used to things like this playing Earth and Beyond and EVE before I bought FFXI both development teams had really nasty habits of breaking more than they fixed in each update and would almost always end up having to release a secondary update to fix what they broke the first time.

on a secondary note has anyone else noticed an obscene amount of loading time for that funky new menu system that POL got when they upgraded? It takes forever for it to come up on my client but I've also gotten alot of network response errors so was wodnering if it was the new menu slowing it down or just slow repsonse from the server itself
Ridiculous...

I think Im gonna cancel my account soon.... If you look at the reasons for the maintenance, theyre not really valid. WoW here I come!

Because it's so bad that SE wants to fix the problems that came with the incredibly large update? The fact that there were problems that needed to be addressed in said large update, which could hurt gameplay if not addressed? Or that SE is giving you a chance to enjoy something other than this game?

Take a week off from FFXI if it's so bad. Chances are, when Chains of Promathia is released, we won't see anything more than regular scheduled server maintenance to hamper your dear playtime.

Yeah, I think I'm in the same boat with you. This expansion better make my computer explode with awesomeness, otherwise I'll just head over to EQ2 in November.

LOL, thats ridiculous. Last time I checked SOE's servers went down for days without there even beeing a patch, much less on large, important patch release days.
Ahhh
