Server Merges Continue

From the Developer's Corner: ------------------------------------------------------------ Merging Servers The most recent server merges are complete and both newly merged servers are showing a healthy population and, as with the combined Zek servers, exceeding their previous combined population totals. As such, beginning April 11th and continuing until the completion of the process, we will continue merging all standard rule-set servers. The servers will be merged in the following order, on the dates listed. 4/7 Brell Serilis merges with Cazic Thule and will be listed as Cazic Thule 4/11 Morden Rasp merges with Povar and will be listed as Povar. 4/11 Lanys T'Vyl merges with The Seventh Hammer and will be listed as The Seventh Hammer. 4/14 Tarew Marr merges with Drinal and will be listed as Drinal. 4/18 Mithaniel Marr merges with Saryrn and will be listed as Saryrn. 4/18 Tholuxe Paells merges with The Rathe and will be listed as The Rathe. 4/21 Ayonae Ro merges with The Tribunal and will be listed as The Tribunal. 4/25 Veeshan merges with Luclin and will be listed as Luclin. 4/28 Karana merges with Bertoxxulous and will be listed as Bertoxxulous. 5/2 Innoruuk merges with The Nameless and will be listed as The Nameless. 5/5 Zebuxoruk merges with Xegony and will be listed as Xegony. 5/9 Vazaelle merges with Maelin Starpyre and will be listed as Maelin Starpyre. 5/12 Rodcet Nife and Quellious and will be listed as Quellious. 5/16 Morrell Thule and Erollisi Marr and will be listed as Erollisi Marr. 5/19 Xev merges with Druzzil Ro and will be listed as Druzzil Ro. 5/23 Torvonnilous and Fennin Ro and will be listed as Fennin Ro 5/26 Terris Thule and Prexus and will be listed as Prexus. 5/30 E'ci and Tunare and will be listed as Tunare. We understand that server identity is important to our customers and we will be integrating server titles into the title system to allow you to display your server of origin, should you desire to do so. The server title system will go live with our April 6th Update. Unutilized Character Purge Immediately preceding the merger, all characters below level 10 that have not been logged in for over six months will be deleted from each of the merging servers and will not be available after the server merge. If you have a character on any of the servers being merged that is below level 10 and has not been logged in for more than six months, you will need to log that character in prior to the scheduled merge date for the relevant server. Shared Banks on Merging Servers If you have characters on two servers which are being merged together, you will need to clean out the shared bank on one of those servers. After the merge, only one shared bank will be available on each merged server. Character Limitations If you have more than eight characters in total on the two servers being merged, only the first eight characters (in alphabetical order) will be displayed after the merge. Characters other than the eight displayed characters will not be available for selection until currently displayed characters are deleted. All characters from both servers will remain on your account provided that the character was above level 10 and had been logged into game within the last six months. Corpses Prior to the scheduled merge date for your server(s), please be sure that you clear any unclaimed character corpses from the world. Character corpses will not be transferred to the newly-merged server. Once the merger is complete, all corpses on the servers affected by a merge will have been purged. Duplicate Character Names It is possible that characters on servers affected by the merge will have duplicate names. In the event that characters on the new, combined server do share a name, the character with the most played time will be entitled to keep the name. All other characters will have the letter X appended to their name and will be eligible for a name change. Characters can use the in-game /changename command to request a new name. The new name is subject to the conditions set forth in our naming policy which can be found here: Naming Policy. LDoN Leader Boards After each merge is completed, as characters log into their newly-combined server, the leader board will be re-populated with standings. Although your points will be unaffected by the transfer, your standing may have changed based on the new, combined population totals. Complimentary Character Move Shortly after each merger is complete, we will allow all customers affected by a merge a one-time, complimentary character move to the server of their choice. For each customer with an account on a newly-merged server who requests such a move, all characters associated with that customer’s account will be transferred to the selected server. All characters will bring their items with them in the transfer. Please make sure you are aware of your servers expected merge date and prepare accordingly. These dates are subject to change should we need to alter the timetable of merges. Should we need to change the dates we will post the new list with plenty of advance notice. ------------------------------------------------------------

10 CST raids?
# Mar 30 2005 at 4:47 PM Rating: Default
Can anyone tell me which server I would have the best chance of finding a time/god guild that raids around 9-10 pm CST? I am aware of the upcoming server mergers and I plan on moving when it's free.
Thank you.

I hope that Lanys T'Vyl doesn't have a stable economy, or you're going to be sadly dissapointed when the megamillions economy classes of the 7th hammer send your prices through the roof.

Lanys is the home of the jaded traders. Stuff that isn't on par with Omens drops or better is cheap. Everything else is too expensive for 95% of the server population to buy. Thus, as we join you guys, we're going to drive down the prices of your cheapie drops to the point of where you'll question the logic of selling them versus Tributing them, and making the top-end gear even more expensive than it might already be. See you soon!

Welcome to the Seventh Hammer server. Mebe ya ought to read about our most infamous person on this server before they merge. The ezboard posts on Linvarwen are 34 pages long about his exploits at:

He is still around. I saw him in BOT in December I think.

I've been around EQ since it came out. I have to say from the historical point of view the server merge will not do more good than it will harm. I understand that for them this is about money, but for us this will just suck.

Nobody is a newbie anymore in EQ. I don't care if you go from one side of the server select to the other. People all have the best, looking for better. In such case, old zones need to be made as good, if not better. Merging servers on existing content only ensures that the new merged population will be fighting over the best trying to make their characters better.

The sad thing about EQ for the historical point of view is that with each new expansion, the previous ones recieve no new update. Furthermore, they don't make prior raid content available to single group orientated people. More of that has been available but honestly they could have made elemental molds rare drops in PoE trash mobs. Or PoW, etc, which would utilitze those zones again and give people more options.

My opinion is, server merges are FINE. OK, give us the server merges. At the same time, update RoK, SoV, SoL and LDoN to compensate for the overall lack of quality endgame encounters for both groups and raids.

Just beware as the date approaches for your server, and make sure if you die that you have time to loot (and preferably rez) your corpse. Because from the sound of it, if you die just before the servers go down, when they come back up your corpse will be gone!

The only real complaint about the merges is that it is being spread out so much - get it over with!

Waiting over a month once the announcement is out is just painful. You know that things are going to change (soon, as opposed to the eventual game play changes that happen over time) and you want to get moving in the new environment.

returning players?
# Mar 30 2005 at 11:19 AM Rating: Default
I wonder what will happen when returning players from WoW come back to find their server not there? lol

I am excited about the mergers. Tunare took a huge hit, and everyone complains of being LFG for hours and hours. Welcome E'ci! I for one, look forward to having you all.

Hello... I have a question... My parents are divorced, and I only get to play EQ during the summer... Is this bad for my level 51 Druid? Will he still be there... No corpses rotted, but I haven't played him since July of last year... Just curious because if I need to log on him, I'll have my stepdad do so. :) TIA

Server Mergers

I think that the reason that there are so few camps that people actually gather at is because there are so few places in the game that are worth the time to xp. Now they will be twice as crowded.

I don't think that all these server mergers are a good idea. I've noticed players are gradually returning to EQ1. Which means that sooner or later, there will be server splits again.
Guilds
# Mar 30 2005 at 9:09 AM Rating: Decent
I am Curious to Guilds transfer over with a server Merge or will you have to start the guild over again?

IE.. If say Reagents of Xev was a guild on Xev Server and the server merged to Druzzil Ro, Will Reagents of Xev move over, or will they need to app for new guild name and re-collect her members?

FYI to my knowledge that guild name is Fictious.

Thanks

All the guilds from the server merges last week were able to keep their name. The only problem was that the public notes in the guild management window were deleted.

I really dont think many people wanted this merger....i myself was enjoying the new 1/2 populated server that was overcrowded before the release of WoW/EQ2. I think this is purely the first of EQ1 downsizing to save money and to cut costs and adjust their profit margin.

I am not totally against this though as there is some good to come of it, such as more people to do things with, and the possibility of moving to another server intrigues me too.

But i am not looking foward to the increased lag, the overpopulation of popular zones, and how the economy will be effected by servers merging.

No offense to whoever is on that server but if it was so great <xerrion> we woulda merged with you guys. Thats just my 2 cp. As far as server merges go I saw this happen on the game I used to play before EQ came out, a game called Meridian 59, when server mergers happen so one after the other like what is happening now it can only lead to one thing,The End. The end for EQ is coming, I give it 8 months to a year TOPS before they pull the plug so get your fix now because next year we'll al be sitting around sucking our thumbs screaming for our kei fix

Yeah, because closing down a proven money maker is always a bad idea. More likely, they will pump out more expansions with a larger profit margin and lowerer costs of implementation since there are only half as many servers.

So its possible that the 24/7 level 1 bazaar mules will force longtime players to change their names simply because the mule has more hours? How lame

When AB and KB merged, one of my toons, IE Alts, had her name changed but they only added an X to the end. I /petitioned and told them to add an 'A' to the end. Well in the end, my toon's name is the same without the X. So, I am assuming that they messed up and I won out in the end.

EQ is a huge world with a lot of people sitting in a few zones ---- this will force people to go out and explore all eq has to offer. To naysayers i say you will get over it.

This won't do that at all. This will double the population in those same few zones.

Why is nobody in DL anytmore? Because the experience there is weak compared to newer zones for the same levels.

Back when I started playing, in 2001, Runnyeye was always deserted, except for the occasional farmer or PLer.

When our server population peaked, several years later, and it was common to fnd people waiting for someone to drop trader in the bazaar, due to the 550 trader cap, runnyeye was.... still deserted. Paludal caverns, on the other hand, had waiting lists at the camps, because the experience is faster.

Bottom line is, if they want to even out the zone populations, they need to adjust zone experience and loot, so that all zones of the same level drop equivalent quality gear.

After all, why grind in BoT or tactics, when you can go to OOW zones, and get much faster exp, and better loot.
RE: kk
# Mar 30 2005 at 2:58 PM Rating: Decent
Unless somethings changed in my 3 month haitus, Bot still got the traffic pre 65, no one was really in Tactics even when PoP was the newest expansion. You were either in a flagging guild and in sol ro or not and in bot, and I wouldn't be trusting a whole lot of anyone under 65 in WOS.

Many people wanted this. I am not sure if wanted this. It could help. Look at this. I used to hunt in DL (dreadlands). DL used to be packed. Long lines everywhere. I hated it and wished it was easier to get into a grp. Now, it's hard just to find a grp there. Many zones have been abandoned. This could cause it to be more fun. I hope Eq isn't dying out.

Why are they merging the green servers? The population is already big enough on them, and it's going to suck majorly for the economy... already Maelin is HUGELY overpriced because of the amount of people on it; so much plat in circulation means prices on equipment goes up... *sigh*

When SolusekRo merged with bristlebane the original post said that you need to clear only one of the shared banks. When the merge completed people who hadn't cleared out their bank on SolRo but who had no chars on bristlebane had lost the contents of their shared bank. Better clear out the shared bank of money and bags to be on the safe side.
