Win a Faction T-Shirt and Dog Tag with ZAM!

Get your hands on some superb secret society swag!

And we have our winners!

For the mysterious Dragon, user esprickzor managed to summarize why they were so great in a few simple sentences:

"The world must burn before it can be restored.

The Dragons are master manipulators and do not suffer the same nearsightedness that plague the Templars and Illuminati, the fact that their motives are beyond "Good" or "Bad" makes them even more intriguing.

They are Patient, Deceiving, and Powerful.

They are the Conjurers of Change."

For brandedwolf, the stoic Templar are the only ones with the right reasons:

"Because someone has to be in it for the right reasons.

Because the innocent need protecting.

Because someone must make the hard choices to push the darkness back."

For Beckygrrl, however, everyone's really just in this for themselves, and the Illuminati are the only ones who've embraced this ideal:

"It's pretty simple really: If you really want the finer things in life, Illuminati is the only way to go.

I mean, come on! What profit is there in chaos? When the smoke clears all you've got is a pile of rubble and dirt stains all over your new Vera Wang suit! Ick!

Templars? Get serious! Meting out justice may make some people feel better, but for a really good time I'll take the Lamborghini, the downtown luxury penthouse apartment, and summers on the Riviera every time, honey!

On top of all that, there's plenty of that oh-so-delicious aphrodisiac, power. We control the media and the government, and therefore, the unwashed clueless masses as well. While the Dragons and Templars are running around fighting for some silly nebulous ideals no one really understands anyway, we Illuminati are shaping the world the way we want it, the way that works best and most profitably for us and us alone.

When you take the time to really think about it and work out the pros and cons, you realize that Illuminati is the only way to go. It's not only the way that keeps the world working the way it should, but most importantly, it's the way that keeps the world working best for US!"

So congratulations to our winners! We'll be contacting them to send them a T-Shirt and Dog Tag gift bundle for their chosen The Secret World secret society!

Unless you've been trapped on a zombie-infested island recently, you will have heard the great news that The Secret World has gone live! Early Access to Funcom's latest MMO began at the end of last week, with full launch earlier on Tuesday. To celebrate the event, we've got a bit of a giveaway for you!

In The Secret World, you can join one of three Secret Societies. With the steadfast Templar, the hedonistic Illuminati and the chaotic Dragon, each one goes about saving the world in their own unique way. The rivalry between them is intense, with each one vying for supremacy under the careful watch of the Council of Venice.

If you have ever wanted a way to declare your society loyalty to friends and enemies alike, here's your chance. Thanks to our good friends at EA, we have three Secret Society t-shirt and dog-tag sets to give away!

Getting your hands on this superb swag is easy: all you have to do is tell us why your chosen secret society rocks! Leave a comment on this article (you'll need to register for a free ZAM account if you don't already have one) with your most convincing reason. Chris and Gareth will be picking one winner for each society, so you'll be competing against your own faction.

Get your skates on though, as the competition ends on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 5:00pm EST. We'll ship worldwide too, so feel free to enter wherever you are!

The Dragons rock, because every Illuminati power gain, every righteous Templar activity... our models foretold them and we orchestrated them!

The Dragon are actually the only society that doesn't seem to be in it for fame or fortune. While the Lumies run around trying to grasp unlimited power like some bad bond villain and the Templars raid other people's museums for things they think belong in -their- museums, the Dragon are working in the shadows to clean up their messes and keep balance. We do like to have a bit of fun while we're at it, though, so why not do it through chaos?

Most of what the Dragon do is imperceptible at the time; a line of code edited here, a flight delayed there, a Lumie agent oversleeping in their penthouse because we intercepted their wake up call. The Dragon are the butterflies of the secret world, and our wings whip up storms that reshape history. We register and track every tiny change made in the universal system of events, and we know the outcome no matter how long it will take to come to fruition. And should another society derail our plans? Well... all it takes is another flap of the wings.
Do or be done. The Illuminati are not done.

The Illuminati are the greatest secret society. Why? Because all the world's a stage, all the people and other secret societies in it are merely players. Are we the directors then? No. We direct even the directors. We are the ultimate puppet masters. We will lead this world to enlightenment even if we have to drag it kicking and screaming. We came before and after, we are forever.

Why Illum rocks? What kind of Question is that?

Illuminanti equals Control. Control equals Power. Power equals Everything.

Illuminati

The Illuminati are my favorite because they control the flow of information all over the world. In today's age of technological hipsters, they are the very foundation of being a technological hipster doing such subtle things as embedding a simple internet meme throughout all of society to much larger goals like doing an entire rewrite of page one of Wikipedia or editing a live news broadcast, all of which is mentioned as you roam the halls of the Illuminati headquarters.

While the other organisations are attempting to gain direct control in one way or another, the Illuminati are all about pulling strings behind the scenes. This means no one has any idea just how far their influence goes, even if it goes all the way to the leaders of the Templar, Dragon or even the Council of Venice or the Phoenicians. Subtlety is their art, and no one can do it better than the Illuminati.

So the next time you receive your orders from your superiors whether in game or in real life, you can never be sure if it is actually an order from the all seeing eye or not. That is why the Illuminati is the greatest organization.
Templar stand strongly together.

No question. Templars are the most established and organized, both with strong communities to aid people with quests and winning in PvP Warzones. The Illuminati is nothing more then a bunch of zergs. As for the game, it's solid and challenging.

Every time I hear someone cry to make the game easier I get a warm fuzzy feeling that the devs did something right. Dungeons are more like 5 man raids when you get to the end game, Nightmare challenges are truly a nightmare with scaling gear levels for early bosses, mid bosses, and end bosses giving the best rewards and the greatest challenge.
Dragon is best Faction!
# Jul 06 2012 at 12:33 PM Rating: Decent
The Templar are lost in the glory of the past; the Illuminati are blinded by the pursuit of power and prestige. Only the Dragon retain true secrecy; the other two have become the punchline of popular media's jokes through the years. The Dragon remains inscrutable, reforming itself with every generation - mysterious and adaptable in ways outsiders will never grasp.

We are underestimated by our enemies and discounted by our rivals. Our machinations play the other factions against one another, shifting the balance ever to our favor. We see the bigger picture, the grand design of reality - its equations are ours to manipulate, to master. Each Agent of the Dragon is an individual. Our actions and plans may seem random, our methods unpredictable - but every little action has a greater purpose, and it will all come clear when the time is right.

Every people of the world have had legends and myths of Dragons. This is no coincidence.

My choice of secret society for my main character resulted from his background story. It was inevitable for him to end up with the Dragon. It's a long story, and it is a love story.

I have been following TSW since the game was announced, the original ARGs, I have written a couple of TSW RP blogs/twitter feeds (Haley Langmore/Bobby Bidwell), invented Kingmouth Current (in one of those blogs). I am one of the administrators of kingsmouthcurrent.com, a fan website featured on the official Secret World site.

We don't care about no chaos theory.
All we care about is fighting evil in all its forms.

I'd love a Templar dog tag!
The Templars are the only society doing it for the right reasons. Illuminati are in it for money. Dragons for power. Templar are doing it to save the world!

Why else? Because I've been following this awesome MMO since day one. I helped unlock the forums back in the day, and still have a thread linked in the TSW resource thread http://forums.thesecretworld.com/showthread.php?t=342
I've been putting in time to unlock the ARGs, and other puzzles for 7 years. Due to being in England I've not had a chance to get to E3 or anywhere giving away TSW swag. Would love some.
