Largely the same. Well, not in a machine shop but bored. The FC5 thing was a few weeks ago but with the Wolf2 bit amused me enough to toss out a post. Wanna argue some more about it?

Only one post (two now). Just reminds me of the articles my cousin posts, just opposite ends of the spectrum. He and Pold would probably get along very well. Who knows, he may actually be Pold.

There are many inconveniences when dealing with a controlled environment, but at least it has AC.

Texas, Florida, and parts of California keep threatening to leave but they never keep their promises.

Piracy: it's not just something that we see in flashy Disney movies. As a matter of fact, film piracy has become one of the industry's most talked about issues in recent years, and advances in digital technology (particularly social media) have only made pirates savvier over time. Having said that, not everyone makes a clean getaway in the end. In fact, it now seems that a California man who allegedly pirated last year's Deadpool has apparently been caught.

If you didn't get arrested yesterday, then you likely had a better Tuesday than Trevon Maurice Franklin. The 21-year-old currently finds himself in federal custody, and he is being charged with copyright infringement for pirating Deadpool during the film's initial release. More specifically, Franklin allegedly uploaded a copy of The Merc with the Mouth's solo movie to Facebook, which was subsequently viewed over five million times on the social media platform only eight days after the film's release date. Additionally, he is also accused of reproducing at least ten copies of the superhero flick, with an estimated retail value of $2,500.

These crimes carry some severe penalties that are nothing to scoff at. According to a report from Deadline, if convicted of these charges, Franklin could face up to three years in federal prison thanks to the felony charges. Deadpool currently holds the title for 2016's most pirated film, so it makes quite a bit of sense that authorities and industry insiders have taken this particular matter incredibly seriously.

See we like to blame things like mandatory minimum sentencing laws and racism and such for the exploding prison population in this country. What we've fail to take into account is how much easier it is to catch the dumb criminals than it was 50 years ago.

I hope that "at least 10" is closer to 100, or that's one seriously expensive DVD. Smiley: rolleyes

Well, if it was soon after the theatrical release, they may be using the "retail" value of the copies sent to theaters. Just a guess.

Apparently the theaters don't pay anything for the movies and simply give about 50% of the ticket sales to the company that made the movie instead. At least that's according to a couple of random websites I found via google like 30 seconds ago. Works well for a random factoid of the day kind of thing.

Well, 50% is the average for the film's theater life. Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones took 100% of the ticket revenue from theaters the first week it was out because **** you theaters I'm Star Wars mother****er. I'll guess the $2,500 is based on whatever percentage a single theater kept for Deadpool during that first week.

Screw you filter, you behave the way I want you to.

Yeah, well, maybe they have an assigned value anyway. For, I dunno, tax purposes or cases of theft or when someone puts them on Facebook.

In other Star Wars news I just saw an Father's Day card prominently featuring Darth Vader. Tagline? "You're a great dad!!!"

That's...a mixed message, eh?

Batman catches thief stealing Lego Batman movie
Gotham wrote:
How is this not a headline more often? Given our current obsession with all things superhero, I'm genuinely surprised that more people haven't committed to taking to the streets in crimefighting comic-book gear and laid waste to potential criminals. That's what happened recently in Fort Worth, Texas, where officer Damon Cole stopped a Walmart shopper from stealing DVDs. The irony? Cole was wearing a Batman suit, and the perpetrator was stealing a LEGO Batman DVD.

Now why, pray tell, is officer Damon Cole wearing a Christian Bale era Dark Knight costume while driving in his patrol car? There's a valid reason. Fox 4 News in Fort Worth verifies that Cole regularly visits with sick and hospitalized children -- something he does in his free time. On this particular day, we was working an event as a local Walmart when he ran into the criminal. Actually, he was summoned by a Walmart community involvement member, and he sprung into action. The man in question was trying to steal four DVDs, one of which being The LEGO Batman Movie. Said Cole, of the odd situation:
Cole wrote:
You cannot steal my movie. Come on.
What's to come of this sticky-fingered hooligan? Is he off to Arkham Asylum, where he just might share a jail cell adjacent to The Riddler, The Penguin, or the clown prince of crime, The Joker? Hardly. As Fox 4 News reports, because the cost of the four DVDs amounted to less that $100, the guy got off with a citation. He did, however, ask Damon Cole to take a selfie with him while wearing a Batman suit. I guess if you are going to get pinched by the Caped Crusader, you might as well memorialize it for social media.
Truly the hero Gotham deserves.

I spent my first night at daughter's,where I will live until I get an apartment in a low rent, senior mixed building in the city.

I have to get my stuff out of Jonwin's house by the end of next week. Which means renting a storage space that I really can't afford, but then I have little choice in the matter. Specially since all the furnishings I own are family heirlooms. Specially the chairs, and dressers made by my great grandmother and a friend of the family.

Meanwhile I'm Technically homeless, since I don't have my own place to live, other then this cramp room in basement with wall made from cardboard.

It's better then living on the street though.

Plus, I get to drive future son-in-laws Prius.
