Guides

Through your adventures you will have opportunities to acquire companions. Some you will purchase or hire, others will join you because they like you or will be assigned to you be their superiors. These companions can have special combat skills (such as the serious attacks of the T7-01 droid). Others may be specialized in various crafts or gathering skills. These skills can be further improved through training.

Crew Skills

see Crew Skills for more complete information on this topic.

You may learn a maximum of three Crew Skills, in any mix of Gathering and Mission skills, but you may have only one Crafting skill. You may learn a skill from a trainer, or you may unlearn a skill at any time. Unlearning a skill loses all progress in that skill, if you re-learn it later you start from zero.

Crew Management

Press "N" to open the Crew Management interface. This will list the Crew Skills you know and the companions you have. Clicking on a Crew Skill will open the Crafting interface which lists all your recipes and a list of any materials needed.

If any of your companions are currently away on an assignment, the name of the mission and the time remaining to completion will be displayed. For any that are available for assignments, you will see an icon for each skill. Click on this to see a listing of available missions, their costs, duration and possible rewards.

Assignments

You must pay a fee to the assignment broker to get the details for the assignment. The risk is your own and the value of any materials or rewards obtained is not guaranteed.

Crafting

You do not actually do any crafting in SW:TOR, your companions do it for you. Some companions will be better at some crew skills than others. When you click on a Gathering or Mission skill on the Crew Management UI the available missions will be displayed and the current Companion will be displayed at the bottom, along with any modifications to your chances that they might have. The quantity available to craft will be based only on how much material you have on your person and dies not include materials in your Cargo Hold so the quantity may be substantially less than you can actually make.

NOTE: Each companion can be instructed to craft up to five items. The items will be crafted sequentially without further instruction from you. Your companion will inform you when he has completed all assigned tasks, not each one individually. Make sure you have enough inventory space to hold all the product you told him to make, but if you don't your companion will mail the item to you.

Gathering

Gathering is a crap-shoot. The value of the materials brought back may not be worth the credits you spent.

Missions

There are some materials for each craft that can only be obtained from Missions! be sure to see the Crafting page for the craft you have chosen to see recommendations for Mission skills that intersect with your craft.

Gifts

You can raise the Affection of your Companions by giving them gifts. Each gift has a type, such as Courting or Military Gear. This is the key to knowing what to give to whom. There is a 30 second cooldown on gift-giving.

Rank 1 and 2 gifts may be purchased from the Companion Gifts Vendor on your faction's space station.

Rank 5 gifts can be purchased with Gift Fragments at your faction's space station from the Curator.

Customization

Your companion has a slot on their equipment display for a Customization item. These will re-skin your companion so he or she no longer looks like the default version. Some of these Customization items are received via missions, but there are also Companion Customization Vendors, such as Guunta at Bugtown on Balmorra, M-5Q5 in the Prison Administration Center on Belsavis or Keth on Taris at the Toxic Lake Garrison, scattered around the planets.
