WoW Parental Controls

Have you seen that commercial where the parents can set what can be seen on cable TV? GUESS WHAT? That is now the case in World of Warcraft. Yup, that's right son, if you do not do your homework, or sneak out of your room in the middle of the night to play while I am asleep...BAM no WoW. (hehe)
How does the parental control system work? First, a parental control password must be created. This password is then used to log in to the play scheduler. From here, a play schedule can be created for the purpose of setting when the World of Warcraft account is accessible and when it is not. Any time you wish to submit and save a change to the play schedule, you must enter the parental control password.
You can read more about the parental controls here.

I suffer too, my dad has put a parental control on my account so that i can only play 20.00 - 22.00 everyday. The school in swiss is pretty hard and my dad wants me to focus 100% on school, even though i'm one of the smartest students in my class. Another thing is, i live a bit far away from my friends and i usually don't see them very much after school, so 16.00 - 20.00 i usually have nothing to do but to play wow, wich i can't, and when i confront my dad with these facts he just tells me i should go read a book, learn for school or some other lame excuse not to let me play.

Most parents aren't tech enough to setup something like this, or even know it exists.

Funny thing, when I was kid my mom would lock the computer when she wasn't around. (Old fashion x86 with the keylock on the front) Thing was, any kid knew that all you needed to do was open the case, unplug the lock from the motherboard, and computer times were once again had by all!

I remember I'd hear her car pull in, quickly shutdown the comp and re-attach the lock. Then she'd come upstairs, unlock it, and I would resume playing! Ha! I should tell her about that some time...

Considering how addicted to the game many of us adults are, I think it's a good thing that Blizzard added a feature for parents to block kids from playing the game more than a set amount.

Seriously, think about it, kids are better off getting their homework done than playing WOW from the time they get home from school until they go to bed at midnight every day...

The only problem I see with Blizzard adding this feature is that it actually requires that the parents make some effort to watch and control what their kids to. Actual parenting... There are a LOT of families out there with kids who are not controlled and parents who don't give a crap. This feature likely won't be used by those families...
more crap

kind of ironic since this game isn't made for kids. this game should just be rated M. ALl this control does is give parents a new way to **** off their kids and give them another sense of false security.

Kids usually get home first so if they were smart they would have already set the password for parental controls

Oh well, my mom like many(I assume), has nothing to do with the game and will never find out about these newfangled features.
annoying kids

If it lessens the amount of pre-pubescent annoying kids on the realms, then good.
