In Memory of Judy Freeman

ZAM mourns the passing of our longtime Copy Editor.

Yesterday afternoon we learned that ZAM’s longtime copy editor, Judy "Looker" Freeman, passed away from lung cancer. Judy had been with ZAM since October 16, 2007. From the start, Judy worked to clean up the scribbling of our various writers, journalists, and editors. Many of us were fortunate to work with Judy, relying on her expertise to hold us up and shine the brightest light on our creative work. She never wanted to be in the spotlight, but quietly mentored a surprising number of people on the front lines of ZAM News. Chances are, if you ever read an article on ZAM, you've read something she touched.

She will be dearly missed by many here at ZAM, and many that have moved on.

Sorry to hear about your loss. A good copy editor is hard to find, let alone a good person. To have both in the same package is rare. I have no doubt her absence will be acutely felt. My sympathies.

I only spoke with her once, when she welcomed me into the "totally disfuctional ZAM family". I looked forward to speak to her again, not knowing that she would pass away a week later.
You seemed great Judy, I will always regret not having had the time to know you better :'(
Sad to hear this

It can be said in many ways an from many perspective's, yes she will be missed by her family, our family at ZAM and SOE, but the wings she now wears will guide her to rest and peace. Let our hearts not be sorrowed for she has left this wicked world behind and is soaring high in the Heaven's.
