armor testing as of may 2004

I have had my wookiee armor for some time now and it has made a big difference. I am now able to keep up with my fellow players both in PVP and PVE. There is no advantage with our little HAM boost because any serious player always has buffs.
Sheild generators hardly last long enough to kill one enemy, they are seriously broken. Disadantage of the armor is it does not offer enough protection on all levels. Advanced composit can offer 60 base and 80 kinetic or stun depending on your needs, while wookiee armor only offers a max or 53 kinetic and 25 on 2 or 3 other damage.
I was master rifle but i dropped it for pistol so i could get some defences. im also Master CM which is cool because it doesnt matter what armor your wearing, chemical and germ warfare will get ya! unless of course you happen to be a doctor or get heald in time. Dont whine about CM, any decent doc can heal ya and soon there will be spice to counter mind poision.

congrats rallya u can spell right yay, if you spell wookiee wrong when claiming to be more then a nerf herding movie noob it makes u look bad lol..on a up not ya i agree ppl should know that anything okayed by lucas arts is automatically put into the star wars "history books", I, being a star wars fanatic, suggest going out and buying the encyclapedia and the mny books, o ya...the books are better...episode 2 wasnt such lame acting wise in the book as that cheese ball hayden did...only thing good was natalie, good on the eyes, portman, and the action...episode 1 the only thing being qui-gon and maul...maul being ruined by that cheesy death sequence..i mean u saw him turn into a doll lmfao...and back to subject since, with this new tide of wookiee armor, why stop there? why not fix the problem of fish faces in compos helms looking like footballs in compos helms, and with brain tail heads 2 big glitchy brain tails coming out of the helm, they should add species species spacific armor...like the mon cal army armor ect...ive written enough for now talk to u all later :)

For those of you who are clueless that there is more to Starwars then just a few movies. Here is a Time line link to so show you just how much you are missing with books.

Troublesome
# Mar 26 2004 at 3:32 PM Rating: Decent
Unless they cut down on the number of stat points Wookiee characters have available to them, this armor is going to be a big mistake. As it stands, the only weaknesses Wookiees have is that they can only speak one language and that they can't wear armor, which was compensated for by giving them something like 600 or 700 more stat points than everyone else. There's going to have to be some retooling in the near future.

I am on TC, and I can tell you that the new armor will not tip the scales. The armor has the same stats as chitin. Our best armorsmith has gotten the kinetic resist up to about 50%, with the rest in the teens/low 20's.

Also, there is no armor for the feet/legs, which leaves holes open for mobs to attack.

I believe that the endurance costs are also fairly higher than normal armor, but I can't make a sure comment.
give us tailors this ability
# Mar 25 2004 at 11:59 AM Rating: Decent
I would like for us tailors to make this armor. we have been working hard to help wookiees all along and I think it would benefit wookiees and tailors.

armorsmiths dont need more money.

I dont have a wookiee character but I agree the armor above looks much much better than the concept art.

Balance?
# Mar 25 2004 at 4:55 AM Rating: Decent
With the advent of Wookie armour, this slightly lowers the tailors importance to the Wookie. I, as a Twi'Lek tailor have gained a loyal customer base in the crafting of Wookie garb, because so few tailors specialise. Now my customers will go to the armourer, and our primary source of income will be limited entirely to medics and entertainers.

True that the books contained Wookie armour, true that the wookies were unbalanced due to lack of protection at higher levels. My concern is that Wookie stats at lower levels will be reduced to re-balance them in a couple of months time when it is judged that Wookies are now too powerful by half. If this happens every Wookie out there will be as heavily armoured as the next. As far as realism (Albeit fictional realism) is concerned, this will take away from one of the most endearing traits of the Wookie race as a whole.

The wookies never wore armour in the movies, but in the books during the time on the wookies home planet, armour was always being crafted for battles, and things like that.

Just because it wasn't in the movies doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Colors
# Mar 24 2004 at 12:09 PM Rating: Decent
Ronda,

If you do read this can you elaborate on the color pallete? I am curious as to the level of customized colors that will be available.

Also can you speculate on the maximum resists that will be available and the encumberances?

Thanks.

This armor has almost exactly the same pallette choices as a ubese jacket. BUT the way the color interacts with the item - many of the color choices are very poor and look nothing like the selected palette color. I selected the 'pink' color and get a kind of dull red. Black (and dark colors) look horrible as the area which is 'colored' has black details in it.

53% has been obtained on corbantis - and we aren't even near max on it yet. I expect that with the proper segments this armor will be seen at over 70% kinetic. I cannot comment on 'holes' but think the only hole is feet. Also, as it stands a full suit has less encumberance than ubese (with NO experimentation applied to encumberance.) I am not positive, but I am fairly sure the heavest version of this armor will be under 300.300.300 encumberance (with seg enhancer)... I don't think any wookiee can have less than 300 in any stat - so it's good no one will ask my 'why' they cannot wear their armor.

tanget - didn't Chewie wear a blast shield at some point?

With the concept art, I thought the wookiee armour looks like a big joke. This improves on the concept art a tonne. It'll be nice to see a wookiee in a set of these... at least before I make my final judgement. :)

I think it's rediculase wookies crie about armor, Holding true to the saga of StarWArs you never see a Wookie with armor, how stupid.

Also, I am wondering if you've ever heard of these things called books. They have these things called words in them and they tell stories to those who read them. Check this link out to see the 30-odd star wars books that were written!
Just because you are either too stupid or to ignorant to read doesn't mean that wookiee's don't wear armor!!

LOL dahzed, and loringr I guess ur not a wookiee huh? I think you should start a character on another server and try it out and don't use armor. I'd like to see how long and how many times you die trying to master any combat profesion other than marksman or brawler.

Oh and everyone else in the movies and EV wore armor, if they wanted to follow continuity, hardly anyone would be wearing armor except for a few different elite/hybrid professions. SO stop ******** for continuitys sake, as anyone who does they just end up contradicting themselves because how many people actually wore armor in the EV? Very few, and even then only a few select Bounty Hunters, and the Storm Troopers did as well. But if I remember correctly the ST armor was basically used for protection against projectile weapons, such as slugthrowers, and blunt weapons. Other than those two protections it was used as more of a Uniform to identify the Empires elite shock troops from all other people.

Regarding Boba Fett's armor, it was used more for the various gadgets that were built into the armor and not for the actual protection.

So in a nutshell they DID THIS concerning a major balance issue...

I agree, I never saw a Wookie with armor in the movies. I saw a TON of Mon Calamari and Bothans walking around shielded to the gills. (No pun intended) I think Wookies should only be able to wear bandoliers, because thats all I saw them wear in the movies. "How stupid" (I am hoping people pick up on th tiny bit of sarcasm in the above statement.)

Looks good

It's quite stylish ... but why don't Wookies have anything to cover their bottoms? Do they prefer a "cool breeze"?

Wookie = Hairy
Hate to think what the complex joints around that area would do to a wookie.
Hmm
Equip armor, instant wounds to all fields and wookie walks strangely

1 word AWESOME!! I too hope that they come in a variety of colors unlike most wookie clothing. We like colors! I want my victims to see me coming from a mile away:) The samuri look makes it even more appealing! Great Job!

abit? hehe looks like an nice crossfade between a 15th century plate armor from france blended with some japaneese warrior armor. :) nifty but felt abit.. wrong.. im not sure i like the idea of wookies in armor, kinda "ruins" the whole concept of a big furball roaring at you.. if you know what i mean..

My god, people that talk only about the movies a clueless about starwar universe .... there is more to starwars then the 6 movies.Books have been writen and an expanded universe was created for a RPG table game. In the books you see Wookie padawan, armored wookie warrior and all !

PS: the armor looks way cooler then the concept art ... i will buy one for sure.

If the books are that great, then they should make a movie out of those too.
If not, then perhaps there isn't enough people that agrees with your own views of the books.

Opt

I see it as a very cool thing. The wookie's are fighters either way, and in the movies, we have seen a handful of them, it's about time we see a little culture like armor. The Ewoks already have armor, yet no one has complained about them, and all the Ewoks are are little wookies, more of less.

People talk of the unfair advantage and having the wookie's clothed, well have you been around any of us wookies lately? I have BE clothing which protects +20 against damage, so we are already using armor of some sort. Besides, the wookie race are warriors, that is what they were made for in the game, to fight. That's why I became one. If I wanted to be a medic, I'd choosen another race.

So just remember, we are playing Star Wars Galaxies, not just the movies. In case you haven't read the books, you really should, they are the best!!
