SOE Maintenance: Tuesday, March 6, 2012Mar 5th, 2012 at 5:10 PM by Calthine

Most SOE games will experience outtages.

SOE will be performing maintenance beginning at 11:00 PM Pacific on March 5, 2012. This will impact the following services:

  • The following games will be unavailable starting at 11:00 PM on March 5, 2012 to approximately 5:00 AM Pacific on March 6, 2012:
    • Free Realms
    • Clone Wars Adventures
    • DC Universe Online
    • PoxNora
    • EverQuest II - (Antonia Bayle, Sebilis and Nagafen will not be affected)
    • EverQuest (Povar and Antonius Bayle will be taken offline at 3:00am PST)
    • Magic the Gathering Tactics
  • Account management will be unavailable starting at 11:00 PM on March 5, 2012 to approximately 7:00 AM Pacific on March 6, 2012
  • Commerce transactions, including purchases on our websites and in-game marketplaces will be unavailable between 11:00 PM on March 5, 2012 to approximately 7:00 AM Pacific on March 6, 2012
  • Forums will be read-only starting at 11:00 PM on March 5, 2012 to approximately 7:00 AM Pacific on March 6, 2012
  • Login for ALL games will be affected from 11:00 on March 5, 2012 PM to 5:00 AM Pacific on March 6, 2012 (players already logged in should not be impacted)
  • EverQuest will also have server maintenance during this downtime. Povar and Antonius Bayle will be taken down at 03:00 AM. Once the login maintenance is complete, Antonius Bayle and Povar will be open for play. Players that log into the Test server before the maintenance starts should not be impacted.
  • All of the other EverQuest servers will be taken offline at 12:00 AM Pacific on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. The estimated downtime for this maintenance is 12:00 AM to approximately 04:00 PM Pacific on March 6, 2012. If the maintenance is completed early the servers may be opened up before the estimated time.

Yes it was along time for the servers being off line but moving all that content was hard for any company as anyone is in IT will know this. So they back up and you all can play :) Long live EQ.

Sick of paying more living in Australia. I should be paying what the current rate is.

Plus, had enough of all the downtime this game has.

whatever is going on it is taking way longer than even the latest time posted. The servers were due to go online at midnight, pst and it is now 47 minutes past that time. wonder how much longer. any clues?

In spite of the fact that they have a test server, we frequently see emergency shutdowns after updates. Reputable companies take rigorous steps to find and eliminate incompetence in their ranks. SOE is actually getting worse over time. What does that tell you? And after the account hack, SOE told us nothing about how long they'd be down. They gave lip service but NO estimates. We didn't know whether they'd be down for 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 months. I'm sure the higher bosses demanded and received estimates. However we peons (we're only paying customers) don't deserve even a coarse estimate. I think SOE misunderstands western culture. We're not the kind of subservient people who bow down to any authority regardless of the situation and accept it. We're descended from people who left their former homeland to face primitive conditions and eventually defied our "masters" overseas. We don't take that kind of crap. SOE will continue to loose customers because of that lack of cultural understanding and the arrogance of their corporate leaders.

more than 100 toons in tutorial as everyone on the game crowded onto one server. first we got the message that in one minute they would be suspending all the mercs in tutorial. then we got another message saying in 90 minutes they would suspend the mercs. then another message came saying they would suspend the mercs in 120 seconds. guess they couldn't suspend all the mercs for some reason because the next message we got was that the server was coming down in 5 minutes, be in a safe place. this was sometime this morning-- maybe about 10 or so cst. so i went to bayle-- it was up all day but man it was crowded. i didn't even try to go to the tutorial on it.

All of the EverQuest servers (except for Antonius Bayle) were taken down at 12:00 AM Pacific* on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. The servers are being moved to a new location and having all of their hardware upgraded. This downtime has unfortunately taken a little longer then planned. The new estimated time for completion and reopening of the servers for play is 12:00 AM PST March 7, 2012.

We apologize for this interruption and will keep you informed if this information changes.

aside from the ambiguity of 12:00 being noon or midnight, the length of time
for the other server outage suggest that 4pm for the back up time if started at midnight.

It is hard to believe that SOE would perform server maintenance in the middle of the day, I have never seen this occur since the hackers were in town,

Are we getting hacked again or is this simply **** poor timing for the maintenance?

Do this at the times you have always done it 3 am PST to 8 am PST,

How about u all start crediting our accounts for the downtime,by double XP for the remainder of the day 1159pm PST, cause we know we are not gonna get hours added to our accounts, or money kickbacks.

I am wasting my money on you installing Free to Play Everquest, unbelievable!

I can get to the Log in screen, and the character screen, but, when I try to log in, it says "That Zone is Unavailable."

said that i owned 15/18 expansions when i logged out before the servers came down..missing UF, HoT, and VoA and would not let me log back in even though the servers were not down yet..would just get an error. and ya, i own all of em...hope this is fixed by the time the servers are back up because a few friends exp'd the same thing.

Happens all the time when they do maintenance like this. The game can't properly ping the billing system/account system to know what you have. Once everything comes back up, it will be fixed.

If it still shows that later, you just need to log all the way out and then back in to get the game and account/billing system to properly sync.
