Use the WoW Auction House Anywhere

iPhone and Android app + World of Warcraft Remote Service gives you access to the World or Warcraft Auction House anywhere

Wouldn't you rather just always be playing WoW? Starting today, using the new Armory website, Mobile Armory App for the iPhone and iPod Touch or the Remote Auction House app for Android will enable you to keep track of all your bids and auctions in real-time.

But what's an auction without being able to bid and sell? Also launching today, for a paid subscription of $2.99 a month, the World of Warcraft Remote service will let you post items for sale directly from your character's bag, bank or mailbox on your factions Auction House or your realm's cross-faction Auction House. You'll also be able bid or place buyout purchases on other player's for sale items in real-time. And don't forget about that gold you'll be earning and spending, which you can collect from a sold item or reclaim from a failed bid.

What it boils down to is now you can now make gold or buy sweet armor anywhere, even when you're waiting at the DMV or at your friend's brother's cousin's wedding. For more info, go here.

I probably would not use this unless I'm playing, but this really means that I don't need a bank alt any more. If my bags are full, I just get on my phone and auction stuff off. This is really convenient!

I think this crosses a line.
Having a commercial pet/mount doesn't really make a difference to your competitive ability vs other players. Having the ability for real time monitoring of the AH does it in two ways.
It discriminates against the other AH players who don't have/can't afford such access.
By enabling AH success it enriches those who use it and having money in the game does enable better performance against players who don't.

Of course skill/knowledge still makes a huge difference....but so does money.

This is becoming a game where the rich get richer and the poor move on...in time. Sad really...

Yea, it's overkill; but you know programmers, and their love of writing such programs.

I won't be using it, of course. Addons hate my system, or vice versa.

Its pretty stupid in my opinion. If you can't wait to get home or the weekend to use the Auction House I think you're maybe taking the game a bit too far. Don't get me wrong, I'm a pretty hardcore WoW player...but there has to be a line where you go from heavy enthusiast to obsessed. I think this may be that line for me.

But to each his own. I doubt this will be game changing. It may make the AH a bit more cut throat...but I'm not that concerned. People are free to spend their money on what they want. Doesn't hurt me. I just think its stupid.

I have to agree with the poster here. I might add that this sort of thing also smacks of a product that has began, for whatever reason, to move its over-commercialism into the sublime. As was stated in the previous post you really need to do some soul searching or perhaps take a step back and ask yourself, "am I going a bit too far with my involvement in this game?"

Finally I see this and so many other activities of Blizzard after the loss of the Chinese market as an attempt to shore up winnowing returns at whatever the cost. If it was one little iPhone app then I guess you could call me the one obsessing. However, when you look at all of the pets for sale, mounts for sale, beer steins, T-Shirts - I mean they have curling irons with World of Warcraft images on them for pity sake. Like the poster I don't feel like flaming or dissing people, but I do think that Blizzard may be showing signs of putting all of the developer's kids up for sale in the near future.

There was a thread going on the O-boards that I ran across asking Blizzard to have a less annoying login screen for Cataclysm. I replied joking that in Cataclysm for 2.99 a month you'll be able to have a custom login that's not so annoying.

In light of recent things Blizzard has sold I feel bad for suggesting the idea. They may just do it. :-\

I agree. It will end up with many wow players becoming like the people who can't go for 10 minutes in a day without checking their facebook page/farm etc.
