Finally Stable? More Patch 3.3.3 Fixes and Updates

The WoW servers were plagued with bugs after patch 3.3.3 dropped last week, and Blizzard released a series of hotfixes to address the problems. Here's the latest updates, announced by Bornakk.

When last week's patch dropped, we updated our "WoW Patch 3.3.3 Changes Explained" guide to reflect a few post-launch bugs that players reported, like Wintergrasp crumbling down and strange respawn issues with Dalaran cooking dailies. A few of our users also reported an inability log into servers using the Mac game client, along with some of the more common "patch day" issues (hanging at the log-in screen, for example). After a series of rolling restarts, Blizzard was still pushing hotfixes to the game client last week, as we reported the other day in "WoW Servers Keep Restarting," which included a list of all fixes applied up to March 24.

Recently, Blizzard deployed another round of hotfixes, announced by Bornakk in the official forums. The latest in-game hotfixes address nine more items, including Endless Healing potions in Arenas, the buffs from Warmasters in Alterac Valley, faster respawns for cheese items in Dalaran and the Kvaldir Berserkers in Icecrown, and more. For the complete details about the latest round of hotfixes, including a listing of all the updates deployed since last Tuesday, click past the jump. In the mean time, let us know how patch 3.3.3 is treating you this week. Does Blizzard finally have a grip on stability, or are you still experiencing bugs and other client issues in WoW?

The latest round of hotfixes, deployed and announced by Bornakk on March 26:

  • The Endless Healing Potion is no longer usable in arenas as intended.
  • Warlock’s using a lower rank of Life Tap will receive a reduced benefit from their shadow spell power.
  • The damage done by the cannons in the gunship encounter in Icecrown Citadel has been increased and the rate at which their heat decays has been reduced.
  • In Alterac Valley, the buffs that the Generals get from the Warmasters and Marshals now grant them negative enemy dodge. This means they will now ignore some of their target's total dodge percentage. The base health of the Generals has been increased and the buff also grants a slightly increased amount of damage and health.
  • The cheese items in Dalaran as well as the Kvaldir Berserkers in Icecrown will once again respawn at a faster rate.
  • The window that comes up when talking to an NPC should no longer close on its own.
  • Some changes to the battleground queuing system have been made to improve performance and group queuing.
  • The timer for when the next battle in Wintergrasp will occur should no long disappear.

As we reported last week, these are the hotfixes deployed on March 24:

  • The Glory of the Icecrown Raider (10 player) meta achievement no longer requires Neck-Deep in Vile to be completed.
  • For the Sindragosa encounter, Frost Breath cast under 35% HP no longer has a snare component and there are no longer diminishing returns on Taunt effects.
  • The High Test Eternium Fishing Line now correctly adds +5 fishing skill.
  • The Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat now applies the +75 fishing buff as intended.
  • Transmuting Spellweave, Ebonweave, and Moonshroud items no longer places a buff on the player.
  • The NPC Halthenis is properly appearing again which allowing Hunters to complete the Beast Training quest.
  • Horde and Alliance Master Engineers should once again be able access the Auction House through Reginald Arcfire and Brassbolt Mechawrench respectively.
  • Druids are able to use Swiftmend on targets that have received a rejuvenation from their 4-piece Tier 10 bonus as intended.
  • Pyroblast should correctly benefit from Torment the Weak for players with the Molten Fury talent.
  • The Warrior 4-piece Tier 10 bonus should now have the appropriate chance to proc.

My log in issues were all fixed when i did Repair and reloaded all of the patches in Selective Startup. However, last nite again i had problems with Carbonite sending Chat Channel messages and making the game unstable.
Still having problems

I don't play windowed and this has been (and still is after the maintenance) happening to me occasionally. I'm also still sometimes getting "disconnected from server" the moment the character screen pops up. The only solution has been to close the game and then reopen, upon which everything works fine.

For anyone having the frozen-at-100%-loading issue, I seem to notice it happens when playing windowed, if you switch ANY window at ANY point between the character select screen and seeing the world actually appear.

I've not had it happen if I patiently sat there and watched the loading bar. However, if I forget myself and instinctually check an IM, or Vent, or some website while it loads, I have to kill the process from the task manager and try again. Happens regardless of addons or where I logged out.

Maybe this'll help someone until all this gets fixed.

You might try doing the Repair and reverting the game as described in WoW support>Having Trouble Applying the Patch. Then reload the patches in Selective Startup and start the game as Administrator. Takes 4 to 6 hrs but well worth it.

This is exactly what was happening with me as well. However, I didn't figure out the variable like you did; the only reason I was able to get past the 100 percent loading screen was probably because after my first failed attempts, I was sitting there focused and patiently waiting for it to load, so I wasn't clicking out of the WoW window unconsciously like I was the other times, when it froze.

LOL, that's funny. Thanks for posting this. At least now I know what's causing the issue...I thought it had something to do with either a bad addon or some problem with the client accessing the data cache. Now I know to just keep the WoW window in focus while it's loading, at least!

Thanks

On another note.

If this is any indication of Blizzard's current QA, I'm probably going to cancel my account around the time of the pre-Cata pulling-the-rug-out-from-under-everything-you-know patch, and re-activate it several months into the new expansion.

The joy of the pre-LK patch still lives with me. It was quite enjoyable being stuck without any mounts for a week, with my talent points resetting with each login, and watching the newly buffed Retadins soloing raid bosses and making all forms of PvP (when the arenas weren't kicking players at random) by any other class impossible. Oh, nostalgia. There was also the lovely zombie event, that absolutely nobody was raging about, and that Blizzard didn't admit was a huge failure and was being called off early, before editing the post to say that the sudden end of the event and departure from the storyline that had been building up was totally intended from the beginning, like an exciting Shyamalanian twist!

It isnt uncommon to log in a character (that finally gets in) and when I say accidently log them out and retry entering the world that it just sits there on 100% load and do nothing.

I heard stories about mods doing it, being in Dalaran etc etc, the bottom line is that it occurs with or without mods and anywhere in the game world.

Please fix Blizzard.

Still DC'ing

Was running to complete a noob quest outside Stormwind... Northshire Abby.

EVERY SINGLE NPC/MOB disappeared.

I could move all over the landscape, but I could not dismount, nor could I /logout or /exit.

I had to control/alt/delete it.

Still have friends w/ log on issues.

I've been having this issue as well. Its like losing connection from the server, but for some reason the client isn't recognizing the connection has been lost. And since it seems its no longer connected to the server trying to exit doesn't seem to work. I'm guessing since the connection is broken its not getting the kill command back from the server and so it keeps you logged in.

All seems to be going ok for me; well other than the large lag spikes I have been seeing. It seems to happen mostly in battle and when looting.

The item used to pumpkin people have no time limit. So it was probably someone who had them stored in their bank and trying to get rid of them.

Nope still not stable... many guildies including me are still getting stuck on the loading screen. Every other login requards alt + tab and close of WoW. Next login is fine...the one after that requires the same step. Its really annoying and not isolated to just one or two of us.

Believe me, you're not the only one. I too continue get stuck at the loading screen and have to restart WoW. And latency is just ungodly sometimes...I normally used to run in the green nearly ALL the time. Not anymore...I normally, since the patch, run yellow and sometimes it spikes into the red. This is not cool and need it fixed soon.

I have been having the same trouble. logging in just to play and then having to relog to get it passed the screen. Has anyone else had trouble when you change zones or instances? It leaves me back at the frozen screen and ending up rebooting the game

On occasion I do. Usually its just logging in that gives me the problem, but I did have this happen a couple of times.
