Blizzard Ends Contract with Upper Deck for WoW TCG

In case you missed the news over the weekend, Blizzard will not be renewing Upper Deck's contract to produce the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. Here's Blizzard's official statement straight from the forums:

"As some of you may already be aware, we will not be renewing the World of Warcraft: The Trading Card Game license with Upper Deck. We want to assure you that we are committed to supporting the TCG, and players can look forward to new content and strong organized play support in the near future. We will share additional details about the game's transition to a new partner as soon as possible. For those awaiting tournament prizes, we will ensure you receive them."

According to WoW.com, sources close to the trading card game say all development and art has been created in-house by Blizzard for more than a year, with Upper Deck simply providing the printing. Our friends over at Wowhead also think that Blizzard might be bringing the project under its own umbrella.

Whatever happens, it looks like the TCG is here to stay. Do you plan to try out this new content once it's released?
