New Global Head of Media Joins Activision-Blizzard

Unless it's regarding industry movers and shakers or well-known figures, company turnover and staffing isn't something ZAM generally reports about. However, one thing that every MMO fan can relate to is customer service and the relationship between gamers and game company. As reported in a recent Adweek story, industry veteran Amy Stettler joined Activision-Blizzard last week to fill the new position of "global head of media and customer engagement."

Stettler reports directly to Activision-Blizzard CMO Brad Jakeman and will "manage the marketer's relationship with its media shop, WPP Group's Mediaedge:cia," according to Adweek. Stettler joins the Activision-Blizzard family from her previous role at Omnicom Group's OMD, working as media director for accounts like Apple, IBM and American Express, also according to Adweek. The article alludes that Stettler's primary mission is to continue the video game company's efforts to penetrate mainstream demographics beyond that of hard-core gamers, emulating the success of titles such as Guitar Hero. As for the World of Warcraft community; as with any newly-created position or high-level restructuring, we can only hope that somewhere down the line, customers will notice the efforts of corporate politics.
