Paid Character Transfer Cooldown Reduced to 3 Days

It used to be that you could only pay to have your character transferred to a different server once every 30 days, but that time limit has now been drastically reduced. According to a post made today by Eyonix, the cooldown for the Paid Character Transfer service has been slashed down to three days. "This should prove particularly beneficial to players who move to a realm they don't enjoy and wish to quickly move to a brand-new realm," the Blizzard poster said.

The change has also been reflected in the Paid Character Transfer FAQ: "An individual character may only be transferred once every 3 days." So while you'll be able to change your server quickly, keep in mind that each transfer costs $25.

What do you think of the change? Are you more likely to use the service knowing you're not going to be stuck on a new server for 30 days, or do you think the cooldown is now too short?

Bind on Equipped Items

Some of us players run a ton of dailies in the game because we can only play for relatively short periods in any one sitting, and so RAIDS are not usually possible. We like gear too; and liked to be prepared if raiding ever does become possible for us.

That's where bind on equipped gear in the auction house comes into play.

But some realms are relatively inactive on the high end; and so the BoE gear is either almost never in the auction house or outrageously expensive when it is.

That's where a 3 day transfer comes in handy. If you are willing to pay the 50, jump to a realm with a vibrant high end economy. Stay until you have grabbed all the gear you want. Transfer back to the realm you prefer.
3 day transfers

They got the gold covered. They have a cap of 20K from levels 70 to 80. I think they should of moved it to 10 days. A move up to 3 times a month vs 10 times a month. I am sure this change was revenue driving.
Little overboard

This really isn't that big of an issue. I have a hard time believing Blizzard will ever introduce pay-for-gear. In all honesty Blizzard makes far more money having people addicted to running week after week after week never getting that drop.

Not to mention pre-leveled toons does the same deal. Its much more profitable to have people stumbling around leveling.

Saying this is just a stepping stone to bigger things is a gross over exaggeration. If people want to transfer every 3 days then so be it. I'm sure the majority of people who take advantage of it will only be using it for a couple of jumps. It would be very costly to use this repeatedly.

In addition, it is very easy for someone in China to connect to an American account. A simple proxy can allow you to appear to be from any place in the world to Blizzard's server. Not to mention the majority of gold sellers aren't even Chinese anymore. Heck, I've met quite a few native Westerners in US/Canada/UK selling gold. Doesn't take being in China to break the game rules and make a shady profit.
New Trasfer Policy

Blizzard just want more profits from gold sellers that need to travel between servers moving their gold mountains with them and account sellers whom customers need to transfer their purchaced characters.

I dont see any reason why normal player would need to move between servers more often than once in the 30 days if he is not gold seller or account buyer. It take a lot longer time to evaluate if server is good or not that 3 days of playing and checking progression.
hmm

It just costs too much I believe for anyone to exploit it.

Say right now you just got ulduar on farm (lets also pretend 3.2 isn't 4-6 weeks away)

It will take you 8-10 hours to clear ez modes. Say you raid 16 hours a week (that’s casual imo)
You could get 2 clears a week for as long as you could afford it. You could get everyone geared faster and then take a break from the game. But that kind of goes back to what is this whole raiding thing is about to being with. The journey not the destination.

What I would like to see is a hardcore guild getting 15 realm firsts lol.

Maybe it will be the new way to tag a hardcore guild...

"yah but they only got one realm first, they so bad"
Too Short to enjoy

I think this time frame is too short for moves. You can transfer from one realm because most of your guild mates don't play anymore or because there aren't alot of people on anymore...but there is no way to see if 3 days on a new realm would be enough to find out that you like it. I think it should be 15 days, not 3.

I'm not really sure how someone transferring in 3 days instead of 30 ruins this game. People start and stop playing daily. The majority of us will notice absolutely no difference.

This. Blizzard has systematically loosened it's restrictions over time to make the game more enjoyable for it's customers, thus retaining them and their money in a fast expanding market. There is no evil madman at the helm trying to find ways to profit off the cheaters and ruin the game by selling gear and/or gold directly to players instead of them earning it.

The evil madmen were all too busy murdering Michael Jackson for his money and trying to ruin his pure image. [/sarcasm]

It's a process of desensitizing the player base. I doubt it will be long before they try something else.

Don't you think you're getting a little over-reactionary there?

Seriously... allowing a shorter cool down time on realm transfers is going to desensitize us to some evil dark plan Blizzard has cooked up?

Have been doing it for awhile now. Gender changes, PVE to PVP, soon to be faction changes, now 3day ninja/gold buyer/seller Epics. Soon they will just be selling their own gold and preleveled toons. I mean after all how hard is it to see all the gold farmers connecting from China to a US server to put a stop to in 1st place. They may as well cut out the middle man and make the profits from it too.
