New Ways To Travel

In the next major content patch Blizzard will be adding new ways to travel between much used locations. There will be a new zeppelin route between Thunder Bluff and Origrimmar and a portal between the Stair of Destiny at the Dark Portal and Orgrimmar and Stormwind. Also the new flightpaths at the Stairs will automatically connect to Shattrath!

In the next major content patch we will be adding a few methods of improved transportation to areas of interest while leveling.

It is time for the denizens of Azeroth to witness the full might of the Horde as they do what they do best: employ goblins to construct zeppelin towers and float players across vast seas using sky boats. That's right, a new zeppelin route is being added in Thunder Bluff and will transport players to Orgrimmar. Isn't technology magnificent?

Also, brought to you by Azeroth's greatest users of magic, are all new portals coming to Stormwind and Orgrimmar. These portals will transport players directly to the Stair of Destiny at the Dark Portal. Travel is just so much more convenient when it's instantaneous! Players will then find that a new connecting flight path exists at the Stair of Destiny allowing players new to Outland easy and direct access to the city of Shattrath.

Keep your seat backs and tray tables in a full upright and locked position, and we hope you continue to enjoy your methods of travel in Azeroth and beyond!

How about allowing players to fly from Kalimdor to Azuremyst. Its annoying having to wait for the boats, especially if you just miss the boat. It can be done look at the Sunwell FP for a good example.

Personally, I think they should NOT have 'instanced' the Azeroth-TBC content and just made it so anyone w/o TBC couldn't interact with the Azeroth-TBC NPCs. This game was built around having seamless transition (ie. no load screens) between zones (excluding dungeons of course). They should have kept it like that but just made it an utter waste for non-TBC accounts to go there other than to see it.

Wrath is fine since it's on another server cluster AND another content. SMC and Exodar are just extension of the already existing contents.
Not really needed, but okay.

I can't help but wonder if this change is primarily for newbie Taurens, because everyone knows Orgrimmar is more of a main hub for Azeroth than Thunder Bluff yet having to get past Camp Taurajo and its level 20+ mobs can be a pain for a level >10 cow.

I kinda liked it, actually; taught people the benefits of staying on the path and watching/managing their aggro range. That first trek from TB to Org for a Tauren is an intimidating but exciting adventure!

But, this isn't the kind of game/breaking change that's going to irk me. But to be honest, if they were gonna make a shortcut between Org and TB anyway, I'd rather have a portal for no other reason than TB gets raided more often than any other Horde city, more 80s hang out in Org than anywhere else, and by the time Org gets the SOS from TB and the 80s can get there, Cairne is already hamburger. :(

so you enjoy the 10-20 min walk from org to TB or other way round when you havent got the fp between? there is a tram between IF and SW so why shouldnt there be a zep between org and TB? and the other guy you may as well say that its pointless having it so you can port to any major city from shat or dalaran cause you can just get a mage to port you there or you can just run there /sigh at idiots who think that it should always be made harder really and truly if it makes stuff easier and it doesnt cost you anything (its not like they are saying everyone will have to pay 10g tax or anything stupid like that to get it running) then why complain?

There may be a tram from IF to SW but no ally city as a port directly connecting them the way UC and SM do. I'd say that evens things out. And until the ship was changed from menethil to SW no ally city had a ship directly connecting the way the zepellin connected UC and Org.

I found the old ways to travel better, probably for the community more than anything else. It helped to weed out the people who were too lazy to hop out to Stonard, or walk from TB to Org and vice versa.

These are completely unnecessary, since you can commission a mage to port to wherever you need for a measly amount of gold.

I remember when getting from Darnassus to Ironforge or vice versa as a low-level for the first time was a real challenge because of that death-run through Wetlands. They might as well just put in ports from the major cities to Booty Bay while they're at it.

I'm gonna go sulk and unstack some clams now.
