Elder Scrolls Online: The Road Ahead - July
Check out what Zenimax has planned for ESO with Update 3 and beyond.
For MMOs, it's less about where you start and more about where you go. Elder Scrolls Online was met with mixed opinions three months ago, but where does it stand now? Where are we headed? Zenimax gives us a heads-up in July's The Road Ahead. It's a long post, but here's the rundown:
EU Megaserver
- On the "last week of July or the first week of August," the EU Megaserver will be updated
Veteran Rank System
- Balance changes will allow players to solo veteran content "much more easily"
- There will be a major overhaul to the system that will occur in three phases (see full post)
Guild Enhancements
- Update 3 will primarily be devoted to Guild improvements
- Create ranks, set bank permissions, design heraldry and more
Class Builds and Balance
- Ultimate abilities will scale from weapon damage or spell damage—whichever one benefits you the most
- Whenever a major change is made to a skill line, you will have a free respec if affected
- Werewolves, Templars, Dragonknights, and Nightblades are under review for adjustments
Itemization and Rewards
- "Armor dyes...will give you the ability to customize gear colors to your tastes,..."
- Armor sets will be easier to find, and new "visually distinct" sets will be added
- "Item rewards will be handed out in a more logical fashion by quests and enemy drops"
Combat
- "We've been working steadily behind the scenes to make combat more fun and visceral. This is a multi-pronged effort to tweak and fix dozens of different game systems to lead to a smoother, more responsive combat system"
Great to know that Zenimax is making sure ESO is the game we all want it to be. Keep voicing your thoughts, and keep an eye out for Update 3 down the road!
