Seriously, Blizz has entirely to much time on their hands, as they today announce another interesting WoW announcement. They've "revealed" a new Lich King class, the Bard!

Armed with a trusty axe, killer riffs, and a ton of attitude, the guitar-wielding bard is the second hero class to be introduced in the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King expansion for World of Warcraft. The bard excels both as a solo performer and as part of a solid group lineup, able to front in a number of roles as varied as his musical repertoire.

The bard’s extensive Metal skill line grants the potent transformational ability "I Am Murloc," as well as direct damage effects like "Epic Solo" that will rock foes into oblivion while powerful Indie debuffs such as "Tape Jam" and "Shoegazer" keep them in check. If things heat up, the bard’s Punk tree can support the party with a wide range of abilities, such as "Nonconformity," which dispels fear, mind control, and similar effects, or "Mosh Pit," which briefly boosts the group’s movement speed while its members stay within range.

I totally forgot it was April Fool's Day. Bard would be the dumbest idea ever. That scared the hell outta me. I was thinkin that after so much time spent building up characters that I would have to find something else to do with my spare time. Since there is no way I would play WOW with Bards "facemelting" everyone.

I wouldnt mind a bard class. Other RPGs have bard classes. Dont worry i hadnt finished the text before realising it was April Fools day. :)

Not to beat this joke anymore but despite what a lot of ppl are saying in the forums, i think that having this class for real in the World of Warcraft would completely belittle the game all together. Please remember this is NOT Guitar Hero , this is WoW. Just try and picture a raid. Everyone there has swords, or staffs, or axes and are attacking things, while one or two ppl have f***ing guitars and are attacking mobs. They are using the power of "rock" to defeat evil, and casting out guitar fury with their "groove" points. If they accurately put this class into the World of Warcraft, i would stop playing and get together as many people as i could and write complaints to Blizzard.

Anyone else notice that the walrus in one of the screen shots has a bukkit? In fact, his name is Ihaza Bugget.. which I think is a subtle play on words.

Judging by the color and the level (70), I can only assume that this new breed of baddie will be equipped with some sort of FelBukkit or possibly even a Dark Iron Bukkit.

I can't wait for that drop!

I'd really like to see a bard class, just not with the joke which was funny by the way as I fell for it for like all but 45 minutes. Thank you forums for pointing out the joke lol. Anywho, I would see a Bard class as a CC orientated class, but with some DoT and Light healing over time like an AoE Renew or something. I doubt this class will be a solo monster, and probably be the next new squishy class wearing cloth and maybe upgrade to leather? Of course if you were a metal specced bard you'd skip straight to Plate ;). Happy April Fools see you after the maintenence!

I really was excited that the gaming industry was bringing back the roots for the old methods of gaming. Maybe even throw in some "text" line controls and story line, like:

A Lava Surger approaches from the Right. What do you do?

Damn, I got excited for a second until I saw the screen shots. One I figured out it was a joke but for a split second I thought WTF is Blizz thinking?!?! Sheew, dodged a bullet there. I'd love a Bard class but if I have to play GH style FORGET IT!!

Yeah, I loved playing my 60something Bard on FFXI, only problem is they could not solo what so ever (not that FFXI is a solo friendly game, but Bard was the worst). The party buffs were really good.

I'd pick up Bard if WoW ever came out with one. I'd bet he'd be a healer/DoT class, with some CC songs (Lullaby).
