EVE Online Starts Training Sessions

Learning how to play EVE Online is a daunting task for any rookie. To complement the game's tutorials, CCP Games is starting a series of "New Player Training Sessions". The first series of sessions will focus on PVP combat, featuring 11 one-hour sessions across a month’s time.
CCP Eterne gives us the details on which lessons are when:

EVE Rubicon: Hi-Sec Player-Owned Customs Offices

If you checked our coverage of the new EVE Online expansion Rubicon, then you know that changes are coming to Customs Offices. To elaborate, CCP SoniClover of CCP Games gives us plenty of specifics on how the new hi-sec POCOs (Player-Owned Customs Offices) will function:

EVE Vegas: The Details Emerge

With no exception, this year's EVE Vegas should be a blast. The details behind the major fan event for EVE Online have emerged, giving us a glimpse at what to expect. Even though Player Presentations and Developer Roundtables remain a mystery for now, CCP Games promises to fill us in at a later date when more details arise.

EVE Online Winter Expansion: Rubicon

Earlier this afternoon, CCP Games revealed its newest EVE Online expansion: Rubicon. This winter expansion will be released on November 19th, marking 10 years of semi-annual expansions from CCP. There was a deluge of details on Rubicon, so grab a neural booster and soak it all in.

Lander's Universe

As I sat in a meeting room at Gamescom, I remember thinking: what does Jon Lander actually do? Since handing over the reins of EVE Online to Andie Nordgren and Kristoffer Touborg, CCP’s Executive Producer was heading off to do something in mobile.

It was only when we met up that I finally discovered the truth: Lander is a champion of great ideas. Case in point was EVE: VR, a project he greenlit to bring to EVE FanFest in April and then, buoyed by success, encouraged them to take it to E3.

Executive Producer Announced For EVE: Valkyrie

CCP Games today named Owen O'Brien as executive producer of EVE: Valkyrie, a new virtual-reality spaceship dogfighting game in development at the company’s Newcastle, UK studio. As executive producer O'Brien will oversee all aspects of EVE: Valkyrie's production.

O'Brien joins CCP following a long career at the award-winning game development studio DICE in Stockholm, Sweden, owned by publisher Electronic Arts. At DICE, O'Brien led production of the critically acclaimed game Mirror's Edge, which was heralded for its creativity and groundbreaking take on the first-person action genre.

EVE: The Second Decade Ship Date Announced

There’s good news for capsuleers today, with the announcement of a ship date for EVE: The Second Decade Collector’s Edition. Created to celebrate ten years of pilots roaming New Eden, this special pack will be heading out to fans from October 24. CCP have also shared that two distribution hubs will be used, based in Atlanta, USA and Nortorf, Germany, to get them delivered as swiftly as possible.

Announced during EVE FanFest earlier this year, the Collector’s Edition will include a hefty hardback book chronicling the history of CCP’s unique MMO, together with a USB hub in the shape of a RIfter, one of the most iconic ships in the game.

EVE: Valkyrie: In the Cockpit

I’m staring down a metal tube, waiting for the launch signal. The brief respite gives me a chance to look around, and get a feel for the cockpit that surrounds me. I’ve sat in this seat before and, this time, I’m going to kick some ass. I might not know what lies outside the carrier’s launch bay, but I’m certain of one thing: there are noobs that need pwning, and I aim to deliver.

The klaxon sounds and, like a flash, I’m out there. Everything seems clearer, from the asteroids rushing past to the Caldari carrier spewing fighters of its own. I grin, punching the missile lock, and pivot my head to point at one of them. With the reticule switching yellow, I let loose a firestorm of missiles. Two more volleys and he’s toast. This is going to be easy.

It may have begun as a fun tech demo put together by a handful of CCP devs, but EVE-VR has evolved.

As part of Gamescom—keep your eye out for reports from the floor by Gareth "Gazimoff" Harmer and Olivia Grace—CCP has announced EVE Valkyrie, the fully-fledged sci-fi dogfighter, due to launch in 2014.

EVE: Journey into the Unknown Pt 8

The Jita System. Home of the most important trading hub in all New Eden. Scene of the biggest riots EVE Online has ever seen. Den of countless scammers, con artists and felons. And yet, anchored off the fourth moon of the fourth planet in the system, the Caldari station continues to welcome capsuleers from across the galaxy.

It plays such an important role in EVE’s economy that almost every industrial corporation makes a regular visit, either to trade commodities or deliver finished goods. While there are other hubs to hawk your wares at, Jita is the one that most flock to. And, since I had minerals to sell, it was about time I made the trip for myself.
