Big-badda-boom

Story thus far is that the area of the port facility held volatile materials and something went horribly wrong.

ALSO: A single company (state sanctioned to handle the dangerous stuff) is responsible for the area where the blast took place.

ALSO: ALSO: The inevitable "the company cut corners and/or bribed those responsible for keeping tabs on the safety issues". I took that with a grain of salt until I recalled the Texas explosion a few years back in which the involved company had somehow not been inspected for YEARS.

EDIT: To add second link

Good reminder to stay away from windows until after the blast wave hits. Those guys were lucky.

Regulations, pfft, who needs 'em? The market will decide!

Come on now, it's just a few industrial incidents, abysmal work conditions, heinous environmental conditions, and a slave-like lower class regularly crossing into human rights violations. That's no reason to regulate anything.

Hey, after your ground water is poisoned, the air a toxic miasma and your house blown to the ground you can TOTALLY get the upper hand by buying the other guy's fertilizer or copper! The free market proves its value again!

Regulations are only as good as the government's ability to and willingness to enforce them, which is why most regulations are ******* useless.

Between that steady gif and the video of the woman getting eaten by the escalator it almost seems like people are just standing around recording things and waiting for stuff to break down.
