Apparently we're posting cute animal pics and other support to the twitter wall(or whatevs that thing is called) of the EiC of Loot Crate's Daily Crate because Randi Harper is leading a charge against her for daring suggest that an anti-harassment organization should lead by example and stop harassing people. Which is an interesting thing to be able to write right before going to bed.

Well, I didn't want to make this a thing, but it seems to have become a thing anyway.

Edit: Honestly, more than anything I posted that because I thought the Vivian art was adorable.

Edit: Smiley: inlove

You've given twice as much to comic book artists than to the dead cop's family.

Yeah. That got a bit more coverage thanks to a few people with larger audiences giving it a boost. I also don't think the "Aggressive Cleavage" charity drive dropping the same day as the police officer one helped much, either. I'm still gonna donate a bit when my paycheck clears later today, but it's unfortunately not one that did as well as I had hoped.

Edit: I'm kinda hoping the Comic Book one doesn't completely overshadow the MS one for the data analysis guy. But those will have to be my worries for next payday.

Don't worry; I'm sure the comic one will be forgotten as well the moment someone finds a yak calf you can throw money at.

I don't usually come out against charities regardless of how whack they are, but I'll bite here. What is the justification for the creation of what is essentially unemployment/income supplementation program, but only for the narrow bounds of creative design work in a niche industry? I'm all for having a strong social safety net, but I think that narrow compartmentalized solutions are the wrong way to solve the problem. The premise seems farcical, but also the structure seems inherently corruptible, which is totally at odds with the alleged purpose of the movement it represents. Prima facie, it's purely a PR strategy, and not a very well thought out one at that.

Does the Joker go around raping people? 95% of what I know about the Joker was taught to me by Cesar Romero and the other 5% by Jack Nicholson so he never struck me as the rapey sort. Consequently, when I saw the cover it didn't resonate in that way for me. More of just a "Joker's gonna kill her 'cause he's crazy" versus "She's gonna get raped".

I guess he could have raped James Gordon after striping and chaining him to an amusement park ride.

As a rule, it's fine for comic villains to murder millions, so long as they don't touch a boob, because as we know, life is trivial but vaginas are magic. In this particular case, however, it's an homage to The Killing Joke. The premise is that Joker captures Barbara with the intent of also capturing Gordon and using what he does to Barbara to drive Gordon insane. While there is no "then I raped her, wokka wokka!" exposition, it's hard not to infer from the context of the story that she was sexually assaulted.

Although, to be fair, after being paralyzed, so that's probably fine? I'm not really sure how the pretend morality rules work. He shoots her, then poses her in position that he thinks will drive Gordon insane. It's clear that she's naked in the comic. It's unclear if there are penises nearby, but it's clear that Moore intends this to be assumed. When he has more freedom with story content he writes about rape in pretty much every book, including LXG where he literally has Mr Hyde rape the Invisible Man to death and eat him...because he raped someone else. What I'm saying is that it's stretch to assume that any Allan Moore story doesn't heavily feature rape.
