2. a. Petitions are nice peaceful protesting tools, though ideologically speaking, Gamergate is about ethics in journalism, so they'd be way off message with this petition. In fact, they 'd be playing into their skeptics hand who claim they don't like girls with mouths.
2. b. I doubt if many gamers, including the thousand that signed this petition, make it a habit to check the curriculum vitae of the devs working on a title before buying and playing a game. Again, this anti-anita push is nothing if not irrational. ****, for all you or I know she could add something to a game, or at least earn her pay. But then I enjoy games mostly for the gaming mechanics more-so than the graphics or storyline. I wouldn't be hurt if a game that might have had tits&aas, didn't. Anyways, there are enough games being made that allowing Anita to provide expert feminism input to a title or two isn't going to crash the industry. I mean GG has pretty much made it a necessity that the industry pay some attention to 'isms'.

(A) Assumes that people opposed to Sarkeesian's involvement are doing so on some sort of GG grounds. It's possible to dislike Sarkeesian's philosophy and yet not care about ethics in game journalism (and be opposed to Twitter rape threats). It's possible to care about said ethics AND dislike Sarkeesian's work for totally different reasons.
(B) Seems more anti-Sarkeesian than anti-woman. Doesn't the ME2 development team have women on it? I know ME1 was written by a woman. That said, while I'll agree that this seemed to be pretty much about Sarkeesian, you'd be surprised at how many avid gamers actually give a crap about following who is with what development team working on which project. At least I know I'm surprised when I see people give an opinion on an upcoming game based on "Well, it's written by the guys who did Space Warriors 2 so that's cool but the development team was responsible for Dragon Racer: Unleashed and that game was a buggy mess". I'm like "Ummm... I saw the Youtube trailer?"

Ok, I skimmed A LOT but that went from one man's impression of geopolitical history in the past decade (which I didn't necessarily agree with) to imminent nuclear war to something about the SJW Powers That Be brainwashing America's youth via shitty educational video games and Common Core standards?

Seems more like some whackjob freely associating random news articles they've read than a cogent political thesis.

Yes. It's a valid assumption.

The GG movement is all about maintaining the status quo in the gaming industry and not allowing opinions they don't agree with to color 'their' games.

I'm sure there are people who signed that petition that are not affiliated with the gamer-gate 'movement', and simply don't like Anita for whatever reason, but if they or you signed this petition demanding she not work on a game because of her extreme feminist views then you are signing the petition based on the same pretense for which it was created.... by the amorphous gamer-gate horde.

If you are signing it simply because this new hire is an inexperienced game developer I'd question your plausibility.

It's not the main thrust of the movement, but it would be unfair to say that there isn't a bit of truth to that. That said, I'd be more inclined to say that we don't want moral crusaders to alter our games to fit their social agenda. We didn't want it from Jack Thompson and we don't want it from Anita and Joshie Josh.

There's no problem with games expanding and broadening their horizons. However, you don't do that by bullying your way into existing IPs and demanding they change. You also don't do it by attacking games you don't like. Instead, you should lead the way by creating new things. But if you think Anita and co are here to broaden games, you and I obviously watched very different videos.

I like how the only way to even try to justify anything Sarkeesian says is to ignore what she actually says and to generalize it. "Oh, you must disagree with her because she's a woman with an opinion!" "Oh, you must disagree with her because she's a feminist!" No, most people disagree with her because she's an idiot.

You understand that absolutely no one gives a fuck, right? A knitting circle would be more influential.

I don't think she has "extreme feminist views". I think extreme feminist views would be taxing men's paychecks for reparations or requiring abortion cases to only be decided by women judges or something. I think she has dumb views regarding gaming but they're not dumb because they're feminist, they're dumb because they're poorly researched and illogical (10% of the street crime has a woman victim so this game is anti-women!). I wouldn't bother to sign a "Don't have Anita on your development team!" petition but, if I did, it wouldn't be because of feminism or journalism ethics or woman-hating, it'd be because she doesn't know what she's doing (well, for games; I guess she's a master at attention gathering and fund raising).
