This isn't going to turn out well. Basically, a dev is saying that when a game comes out, he'll be withholding keys from pro-GG folks...somehow. And that somehow involves pulling it from Steam as one possible step because "Steam is central to "gamer" culture". Sounds like a crappy game, so no big loss, but it seems a bit like cutting off his nose to spite our face.

It really, really does. Smiley: lol

Edit: Someone's saying that Kotaku likes it. Smiley: eek

Edit: This looks like a better game than that. And it's just a silly megaman/metroid-like that's probably just a silly flash game.

Edit: Sea Lion related news. They went with "Izzy Beau Essex" as the name. Took me a minute to get the joke.

And now Desura's getting into the Phil Fish 2.0(David Gallant) thing. He's now removing his game from Desura because...reasons.

Edit: This article is easier to read and has a lot of tweets that were missed in the earlier one. I may actually have to get Desura now. Hell, with all those bundles I've bought over time, I'm sure I'll have a fair number of Desura games in my library when all is said and done.

I'm sure distributors have nothing better to do with their time than check some indie developer's blacklist before handing out keys for a shitty $2 game.

I have woken up to find that a number of prominent Antis, who would like you to know that they are not Jack Thompson, are celebrating GTAV being pulled from shelves in a couple stores(Target in Australia and I'm hearing Kmart, but I haven't verified that one).

His username is "disarm the cops", which just says all we need to know about him, ever. I'm not pro-GG or anti-blackpeopleinFerguson, or pro-guns, but holy ****, he's either 12 years old, or he's an idiot.

He sounds like one of those people who go "that's racist!" when it's clearly not racist. One of those politically correct ******** who can't take a pee without making a big deal out of how he sits down when he does so, because misogyny hurts everyone, not just women. Those politically active hippies that wore homemade sweaters and had long, greasy hair in high school... Good god, I can't ******* stand that type of people.

I think the better question to ask is how did Grand Theft Auto 5 even manage to make it into stores in Australia in the first place?

Considering they gave Atelier Totori an adult rating, I'm kinda inclined to agree that you have a point. I just thought that it was funny that people who have a song about not being Jack Thompson were cheering for store shelf removal of a GTA game.

It is always sad when Aussies, the descendants of the biggest ***** that English justice could catch, have to deal with limited access to internet **** and unfiltered video games.

Also, I kinda feel I should buy gta now.

Kotaku fails at fact checking a story, picks up an Onion-style fake story filled with bogus click-bait and runs with it. Not gonna link to the article, but here's a screenshot of an email exchange between Stephen Totilo and the dev whose friend sent them the fake story.

Edit: Okay, I found an archive of the article. You might get a chuckle out of reading it.

Edit: Submitted without comment.

Edit: Just realized article is about a year and a half old, but the email exchange is recent. Lulz.

The GTA V thing is hilarious, but in a sad way. I mean, fine, they don't like violence in video games. There's still plenty of time for them to jump on that bandwagon before it leaves the United States for good. What gets me is the misogyny thing.

Yes, you can light a prostitute on fire and shoot her, so I guess that's promoting misogyny (that's what this thread has taught me, and it's what the unbiased prostitutes who made the petition wrote). But you can also light a dude on fire and shoot him, so I guess the game is also promoting misandry, yes?

How does that even work? Is the game promoting the hatred of all people?

Another case of people abusing the **** out of the word 'misogyny' because they have no goddamn clue.

I made the same point about Sarkeesian's complaints about Watch Dogs. Yeah, you might see street crime involving a guy about to attack his female partner. But you also see street crime about some guy stabbing another guy who owes him money or a drug deal or some gang violence, or an arsonist or some mentally disturbed guy who hears voices, etc. Every one of these are handled the exact same way (stay out of sight until situation escalates then intervene before the actual attack) so why am I supposed to get worked up that one situation out of twenty involves 'domestic violence'? Shit, that's probably LOW for actual urban area assault statistics.
