<a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/05/dea-surveillance-cover-up_n_3706207.html">DEA apparently is getting help from the intelligence community and then lies about it</a>

It is not exactly surprising, but I am kinda hoping people will get mildly annoyed when they realize that all the data around will, eventually at this rate, be accessible to IRS, dog pound, local police, mpaa, riaa, and every single bureaucrat that wants to see what you were up to. Ain't that nice? Ain't it convenient?:>

Just think of the time savings.

I would be kinda for it, that kind of forced transparency, if I was naive enough to think that the nice and friendly bankers ( and their protectors in all administrations thus far ), high level government officials and so on would be affected as well.

I am naive enough to think that people will get pissed off.

That's a pretty terrible OP. Next time you shouldn't minimize your own argument and make it sound ridiculous in your topic starter.

I thought sounding ridiculous was the standard approach here.

Additionally, it is not that far fetched.

Apparently.

I've generally assumed this would be the least of what they're doing with it. Hence my special hat. Smiley: tinfoilhat

Well I'd make a big deal about my tinfoil underwear, but you know, can't give away too much information via interwebs. You never know who's watching. Smiley: wink

What did she know that I did not?

Still feelin' this way? 'Cause this journey is... well, not likely to be AAA rated.

It would bother me more, but then again I do not have cat urine sniffing habit that could be used against me. So I suppose I have nothing to fear. Right?
Has someone's private cat urine sniffing habit been used against them by the scary humanity-hating government?

I missed the story.

As a whole we seem to be willing to begrudgingly put up with it because we're afraid of being blown up. If this works out we can fund the war on terror by selling our databases to advertisers. Smiley: wink

#18angrymnk, Posted: Aug 08 2013 at 5:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) In my defense, prison planet is already taken and I didn't wanna get sued over that. As for the selling, that ship has probably sailed a good while ago. The funding part is quite novel however.

It's fairly common knowledge that this was the case, It's trolling, but it isn't altogether inaccurate.

It's highly unlikely that this information would be made available to every bureaucrat downstream, because that's akin to making it public, and the information is more powerful when it's not.

Quote:
It's not nice to make people google words before coffee.

It's basic latin, pan -all / optic- sight, a place where you can see everything. (Now the rest of you don't have to Google!)

[It's a farce of course, being oversold the same way to the domestic side of the house as the MIC variant, Gorgon Stare (and SAT field mapping, or whatever the new acronym is) or it's cruder drug war brother, SIVAM, but I digress...]

And yes, this system can be used by persons wishing to gather sensitive data. And it will be used for personal and political reasons, just like J,Edgar Hoover's FBI, it's spiritual predecessor. Fortunately, the program sucks at data dissemination throughput, so it probably won't be spying on you, specifically.

I still keep my red hard-bound Webster's II RL book on my desk. I looked it up. Wouldn't want some tracking program to see me searching the interwebs for information about spying.

Our privacy lies in obscurity. Angry guy you're personal digital information is flowing right through the virtual sieve that big brother uses to snag terrirists, evil drs, gun-smugglers. take comfort in the fact that you're just not interesting or important enough to be 'tracked'.

Marketers however are much more sweepingly panoptic. They'll happily access your information (without your permission or knowledge), make you feel special, analyze your intents and 'guide' you into actions that you might not have otherwise taken. The government could only fantasize over such effective means of molding the masses.
