Hell, my son is five and can Google. Might as well not bother sending him to school, eh?

Probably not.

Oh yeah, that. I'd just end up calling him Ruprecht.

I could have told you that it'd be a waste of time and money to send Debalic's kids to school.

From what I've read, he should have his wife home-school the kid.

I think this is a bad idea, mainly because I think tying learning into electronics is a bad idea. I've seen so many people who can't do basic math because they started using calculators in 1st grade. Emails at work have horrible spelling since it doesn't have a spellcheck. I fear for the future based on the freakouts I've seen if the internet goes down.

I suppose I should admit that I am a dying breed (even though I'm under 40). No cellphone, no facebook, no twitter, no understanding as to why any of it is necessary.

Why doesn't your email at work have spellcheck...? Even Yahoo mail has spell check. That's really strange...

Necessary isn't the word. Convenient, useful, maybe fun.

Facebook can be convenient and useful when you move thousands of miles away from your family and friends and you want to keep up with and share pictures with one another.

Really? You can't see why a mobile phone would be useful? Are you housebound?

And you can't really organize a popular revolt these days without twitter. It's a political tool!

I don't know anyone who actually has a Twitter account. And Facebook is full of either mindless crap like "I just baked 12 cookies!!!!!! Yuhm yuhm" or some cryptic message like "Wow, cna you beleive she did that?"

My Iphone is ******* awesome though!

Yea, very useful to know that they over slept and are running 15 minutes behind today...

I do like the create an event option though. That's useful, so I guess I stand corrected.

I don't use Twitter for people I know, I use it for people I'm interested in. Of course, I'm a big dork so all the people I follow are political journalists and stuff.

When my husband had his stroke, I used Facebook and my cell phone to report to my friends and family what was going on. So much easier than running to a pay phone to call everyone individually and give them info. Especially since I was feeling SO chatty during that time.

Yeah, Facebook has no use.

I don't tweet or twitter, but my 77 year old dad recently got a facebook page, so I have to check in occasionally. My family is spread all over the country - we share pics through fb and keep tabs on each others comings and goings.

It's just another tool. If it wasn't fb there would be some other electronic medium that would have expedited and stream-lined social communications.

It's convenient in getting news across to a broad group of people, useful in that it can do it with minimal effort, and ... it really isn't fun so you're right there.

I have a Facebook mostly due to the social obligation of it. I have just about everyone on it set to not show up on my feed, though. There are maybe five or six people on there who I actually use it to keep in touch with.
