Couple of quick points hospitals are cutting back or just flat out shutting down because of obama on the horizon. I suppose asking you to look at what business owners like the owner of the cheese factory has to say about it.

Not to mention the increased cost of health insurance caused by obamacare.

What we haven't seen yet are business owners total response to it.

We're actually pretty excited about it on a whole, and see it as a win. Getting more people onto insurance is good for our bottom line. Besides no one really likes shaking down someone for money after they've narrowly survived an accident or something.

Flea worked at a hospital. Then she got laid off (with a bunch of other people) a couple years ago because the hospital was hemorrhaging money on unpaid bills and frivolous "emergency" care for uninsured patients.

I blame Obamacare, myself.

Definitely a big problem here too. We only recover a fraction of that money, and it can cost a lot to get back what we do.

Really for us the big problem going forward is the retirement system. We used to be largely publicly funded, and so had the state employee retirement plan. Now doctors and such are pretty well paid, and funding their elder years is looking to be pretty expensive. The cost per employee for the employer's share of the contribution is expected to double over a 10 year span (we're about 4 years into this), so they're trying to find ways to keep this from eating to heavily into their budgets.

No good solutions there. Smiley: frown

Cut off your cable and start collecting DVDs. You'll save thousands over the years and never have to watch another commercial.

I'm a huge patron of mckays used books, cds, and dvds. Over the last 15yrs I've collected over 400 dvds most of which only cost between 5 and 10 dollars.

Hear that? Instead of paying $10 a month for 300 channels of programming, you could be spending an average of $16 a month and buying two DVDs.

Brilliant!

We usually borrow them from the library. The occasional ones that become a big hit with the kids we'll go out and buy. Figure since we're paying for that service already we might as well make use of it. They have lots of other stuff to help with the kids education anyway.

Maybe he meant their shelf location.

For a $1.95, I picture his DVD collection being made up of third rate "direct to video" flicks, unpopular 80's movies and those sad Disney knock-off cartoons you see at WalMart like "Pocahontas: Indian Princess", "The Littlest Mermaid" and "Non-Derivative Tale of Single Father Reef Fish With Mentally Retarded Companion Seeking Lost Child".

I don't know if this is only recent, but Walmart also has a bunch of 98 cent dvds. They are single dvds with things like "The Best of Ghost Busters" (the cartoon) and other old cartoons that nobody really liked in the first place.
