I'm gearing up for some nerdgasmic gaming this weekend. I've been in the Diablo 3 beta for a while and I'm looking forward to its release on May 15 but really, really stoked for Guild Wars 2. I pre-ordered the CE so I'm getting into the GW2 beta event this weekend. Tried Rift and Star Wars: The Old Republic both fantastic games. Just got burned out on them, I guess. Helps that there will not be a subscription fee for GW2. May motivate you EQ2 diehards to give it a try. Smiley: sly

Despite the fact that there will be no Dwarves in the game, Smiley: mad I'll be rockin' a Nord.

Diablo 3 will keep me busy in the meantime (when there aren't GW2 beta weekend events going on).

Btw, is Zam going to create a Guild Wars 2 forum?

Not that the OP is really directed at me (as a non-MMORPGer), but Skyrim still has its claws in me. Messed around with the Dragon's Dogma demo the other day, and found it to be fun, though a bit unwieldy.

Probably gonna finally pick up CoD:MW3 soon. Waiting patiently for Starhawk's release, too.

Thoroughly and completely addicted to Star Wars: The Old Republic right now. I started about 6 weeks ago, re-rolled after getting my first char to 14, re-rolled again after getting my next chracter to 29, and my current character is a 44 (almost 45) tankassin. And he is godlike.

Tried SWTOR, got bored. The game is a more or less a WoW clone with a Star Wars skin. The class storylines are nice addition, but aside from that the game just doesn't have much going for it right now. Beyond leveling up to level cap, there isn't a whole lot to do. If it lasts another couple years, and adds some actual content, I might give it another try. At the moment I've got a decent backlog of games I picked up due to Joph's thread over in =22. I've been jumping between LA Noire, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Saint's Row the Third, Just Cause 2, Dragon Age, and occasionally mucking around with Rift. I also have Limbo to play eventually. I picked it up on a whim when it was only five bucks and never got around to actually playing it.

I've been playing: Shogun, Sengoku Rance, Mount&Blade, and League of Legends. I could use an rpg-type game in the lineup.

I'm pretty lukewarm on Diablo 3, which is unfortunate, I'm usually a big fan of Blizzard games.

Anyway I'm doing that at the moment. Also replaying FF-X on the side. WoW's been set down while they cook up another expansion. I've yet to check out D3 or the new WoW expansion beta. D3 will be coming to me on release, like all those other WoW players that are getting it "free" from blizzard. I'll play it some, for sure, likely not right away though it seems. I've gotten into this Dragon Age thing, and I'll probably want to finish that up first. I may get to a stopping point before then though, we'll see. We'll see...

Rift is a cool game but I guess the story didn't really grab me as much as the mechanics did (the rift events) but even they got to be same old, same old for me. SWTOR is a fantastic game and I'm sure I'll get back into it again at some point but I'm burned out on it for now. Skyrim does indeed rock but being the social creature I am, I prefer MMOs. Also a huge fan of Dragon Age: Origins and DA2.

GW2 has a PvP element as did the original game but unlike the original game, it's not instance-crazy and very much more open world exploration, dungeons, etc. Things are more organic and it's more about cooperative play than people lining up to take turns at a mob or having to even group. Check out this vid:

It's explains a lot about it. Remember Dark Ages of Camelot with it's Realm vs. Realm pvp? GW2 has World vs. World vs. World (server vs server vs server) and it looks amazing but if you aren't into PvP, there is an unbelievable amount of stuff to keep you entertained on the PvE side (which is my usual preference, too).

Playing SWTOR, as stated it's pretty much WoW in space but I like the friends I play with, so whatev. The recent patch did add some stuff, and there was a recent world event (suspiciously like the blood plague in WoW) that was fun for a few days.

I thought EQ2 went free to play as well, no?

I've been playing EQ again since it went free to play(even with the restrictions, it was still very fun, I ended up paying for it anyway). As well as finishing some old games I never beat. Just finished beating all the Ace Combat games and am just about done beating Legend Of Dragoon.

I love that game. The Nords are a bit OP for castle warfare.

Currently goofing around with ME3 multiplayer(waiting on the next big DLC to continue playing single player), Katawa Shoujo(if you consider a visual novel to be a game), WoW on very rare occasions and Kingdoms of Amalur when I get some PS3 time(which is rare).

Skyrim's the only game I've played in the past 4 months, but I haven't been gaming that much in general and I'm starting a new job next week that will probably have me working fairly long hours. I'm excited about Assassin's Creed III this fall after seeing a demo of it at PAX East (I hope they do as realistic a recreation of colonial-era Boston like they did for Florence, Venice, etc. in ACII), but I need to catch up a bit first and play Brotherhood and Revelations.

No MMORPGs here. I stopped playing CoH this past winter when I didn't like the direction they were taking the cash shop model. Haven't tried F2P EQ since I know I'll be annoyed with the restrictions. At the same time, I don't see myself paying for another sub game any time soon. The way I buy games these days, $15 isn't "A movie ticket and popcorn for 90 minutes" but rather "Three single player games that could potentially keep me amused longer than a month". Besides, if I'm ever desperate for half-assed coordination with other living people and real-time displays of retarded behavior, I always have Team Fortress 2.

Rolling through DA: Awakening right now, will probably follow with DA2 just to retire the series (until DA3) and then move to Fallout 3 or something. I've enough back catalog to keep me amused.

I'm playing TOR as my main MMO. It actually doesn't feel like WoW at all to me, because of how dynamic the leveling process is. Granted, I'm not involved in endgame at all yet. I just feel like I'm playing a BioWare game. I mean, DA:O was so similar to MMO-style gameplay to begin with, where systems are concerned.

I'm playing League of Legends every so often. It's fun, but not enough to make me a frequent player. One or two matches a week--I'm primarily just learning how to play Garen.

Last common multiplayer game is Mass Effect 3.

On the single player front I have ME3, Dragon Age: Origins (plus Awakening and the DLC, then DA2 when I finish that), and I plan to do a theme build in Skyrim soon. I'll go back to Kingdoms of Amalur once I have finished with some of the other games. Fortunately, there aren't any releases I care about coming up anytime soon, iirc.

Anyone else interested in Dragon's Dogma or am I the only one? League of Legends is fun but the matches can take too damn long and I hate quitting mid-match. That being said, it's great for a F2P game.

Quit mid-match too many times and they won't let you back in, and I believe you'll accrue lesser penalties until that point. LoL matches are usually about 20 minutes. Your teams are freakishly well balanced against each other if a non-ranked match lasts much longer than that.

Ranked matches are a different story, but if you are doing them then you are probably not the type looking to fit in a quick little game.

I got to beta test D3 a bit earlier and I loved it/ My favorite is the monk, second favorite would be the Witch Doctor. It's great, its far more enjoyable than the MoP beta, which I just didn't want in the first place =(

I can't wait for release of D3.

I'm interested in hearing how the GW2 beta goes.

The monk is awesome fun in D3 - definitely playing one as well as the Barbarian (also great fun). I'm in the MoP beta, too, but have hardly been in it - it was fun making a dwarf monk but the monk trainers weren't (still aren't?) in it at the time. The Pandarens are pretty cool but I'm pretty much done on WoW - tried to get into Cata but didn't last. GW2 is (and I hate to sound pretentious here) really is the next generation of Fantasy MMOs...even though they don't have dwarves...grrr. Smiley: mad

I'll definitely post my impressions of it once I actually get in-game tomorrow for the beta weekend.

It'd be better if I played the first one & cared about the characters a little. Other than that, it's similar to DA (If you have the nude Mod.) but much more complex & harder. It's also the first game my rig can't play on Ultra without slowing the FPS to unacceptable levels (Quad Core i5s @ 3.3ghz, Nvidia 560ti, 16Gs of RAM).

Honestly, if I hadn't turned down the difficulty to easy I doubt I'd be having fun, but once I get the hang of it I'll turn it back up again.

So much is broken, of course it's beta but unlike any other beta that I have gotten to test, there are no forms to fill out, and the "submit bug" button is blocked from use. I started a Human Monk and realized that none of the quests worked, so I abandoned her. I copied over my holy pally (because my alt account vs my AP account got the invite) and found healing wasn't too hard. Although for some reason in cata we are capped at 100k mana.

I'm gonna have to try Barbarian. I was really loving the d3 monk, she made quick work of the boss.

GW2 I keep hearing raves about. I'm curious enough to probably try it (also free play makes me happy) TOR was ok, it had great story lines and I enjoyed the pvp but it just wasn't enough for me. RIft, I liked the pvp and the word events (when the world was a bit more populated) but again, it just wasn't enough. Cata at first was horrible, playing a healer was painful. Around Firelands, it started feeling better for raiding, although I wish they hadn't dropped the Abyssal Maw raid idea.

They've got this thing in Rift now called Instant Adventure. Not sure if any other game has anything like it, but what it is is you enter a group or sometimes raid and you all go galavanting across the countryside, killing almost everything in your path. You have objectives and a timer and it can be a real hoot. You do about 7 objectives, with the final one usually being killing a raid target or defending an area against waves and waves of mobs. Then the next adventure starts and you can choose to have the game port you to the next destination or you can stop. I really like those. It's something to do beside the usual dungeon grinds or questing and even rifts or invasions.

Cool, I'm on Faeblight, too. I'm in the now fairly defunct Wyld Hunt guild. I think I remember Nad being on there when I used to play it. Oh, right, I remember her being on Defiant-side. You on Defiant side, too? Maybe I'll start up a character there.

My characters on Guardian side are:

Snorre - 39 Rogue Dwarf
Haemish - 27 Warrior Dwarf
Snorri - 9 Cleric Dwarf

If you want to add some fun fights to BG2, pick up the tactics and ascension mods.

only if you follow me back. Gotta keep my ratio reasonable.

As for the OP...

I recently started playing EQ2 - I'm really digging it... I bought an older CE from a few expansions back for 9.99 and it came with a month gold membership - I ended up buying a bunch of station cash for half price and locking in my sub for the next three months (and a unicorn, I totally needed that)

I'm curious about GW2 but am now fairly broke after traveling all over hells half acre to get to a funeral, so I won't be preordering. I've never played Diablo but some folks in the office are really excited about D3 so I am considering giving it a shot if only for the novelty of playing a video game with people from real life.

I want to love FF XI so much but SE keeps sucking so... I doubt I will sub this month.

Single player:

I would love it if Final Fantasy Type Zero came to NA some time soon (hopefully on PSP not Vita)... maybe there is some announcement about that but I haven't really looked for it. That said, last time I looked I couldn't find my PSP... which worries me because losing all my saves would tick me off... not to mention the ridic expensive memory card...

I've only played Civ 5 once since buying it so I could always do that

I am working through Final Fantasy 5 and loving every last grindy minute of it

And I am actually really enjoying pokemon heart gold. Yes, I am a dork.

Anyone played Tales of the Abyss for 3DS? Been considering picking it up (when my money magically replenishes itself)

No problem. I make a point of following people back if they're corporeal.

The other day I got bored, or nostalgic or something, and installed SimCity 3000 Unlimited. I forgot how hard this game can be. Thank god for cheat codes.

Original Sim City all the way. I even managed to find it online as abandonware so I didn't have to start out during the apocalypse.

This made me think. I got PanzerGeneral II as an abandonware DL about, oh, five years ago. When my computer ate itself and got replaced (two? years ago) I went to DL it again...and it was re-copyrighted and no longer available for free. WTH?

Stopped playing FFXI after 10 years. Last update burned me out having to get the uber tough limit break. Then they changed the payment plan so its a bit on the back burner for a while. Started World of Tanks last October. Currently Deputy Commander of a clan and have two tier 10 heavies. I still have rift and sometimes play it a bit.
