I call them "lasagna noodles," as well. If someone just came out of nowhere and was talking about noodles, I wouldn't be thinking of lasagna noodles, but in the context of talking about lasagna, the reference is pretty clear.

Also, I like the Barilla no-boil variety.

I never really thought about it. They've always been "lasagna noodles" to me. I blame my mother. Smiley: glare

Well in my minds eye this is what I think of for lasagne: Sheet (I love how the website I found that on is called "Nila").

This is what I think of as noodles: noodles, hence my confusion.

I always see the lasagna pasta as looking like this:

With the wavy sides. Makes for purty food.

This sums up pretty much the entire next previous generation it feels like.
See I can make meaningless, subjective comments too.

Actually, nevermind, this thread is about pasta now I guess.

I still don't understand how "one cannot profit off of another's work" has anything to do with a game store renting out games.

Since this is about food now, I suppose I never will. Smiley: frown

How well does that sauce go with melted cheese?

Because to rent out games (or movies) you need a special license for that game (or movie). This license is more expensive than just buying the game outright. Blockbuster doesn't just go to Gamestop and buy a bunch of used games to rent them out.

Also, I am now going to make some lasagna in the near future.

Maybe next time you should work on being more concise, instead of writing 8 paragraphs and essentially saying nothing?

I was talking about the lasagna! But...

If the gamestore was charging to lend those games out, that's called "renting". And they have to get permission to do that. You cannot make a profit on someone else's work. You absolutely may lend free of charge to someone else. Note, that there's a difference between lending a single copy and "distributing" as well.

The words actually do matter.

This was my original post btw. It was pretty darn concise.

You're going to assume I wrote 8 paragraphs anyway, so what's the point? Smiley: bah

At least it's 8 paragraphs and not 8 *pages* of text, unlike some people I used to know...

I get that a store has to have permission to rent a game out. I have no idea what that has to do with not profiting off someone else work.

But whatever. Thanks, I guess!

I decided to re-visit this thread after I saw mention of lasagna, and have a CSB to share. A few years ago my wife and I had a grocery club gift to pick: a Thanksgiving turkey, or a 96 oz family size Stouffer's lasagne. My boss at work had given us all turkeys, so we opted for the lasagne. I ate it myself in two days.

Context? Silly me, I assumed that since my previous sentence had mentioned needing permission to rent out a game, that I didn't need to repeat "without the proper permission/licensing/whatever". I really ought to learn to never underestimate the ability of forum posters here to take a sentence in the middle of a paragraph full of context in the one way which ignores that context entirely and then make that the central part of their response.

As I responded earlier in this thread, I thought about adding in an extra phrase to clarify that I meant "without permission", but thought that was silly because no reasonable person should leap to the assumption that I meant "at all, period, no exceptions, even though that makes no freaking sense at all". Then I remembered what forum I was posting on, considered changing it. Then decided to go home and make lasagna instead.

You guys are consistent at least. Did you really think I meant that no one can ever under any circumstances use another persons work? Didn't it occur to you that this make no sense, and then perhaps look for a more rational meaning, like say in the preceding sentence? I guess it's just funny to me, because when I read something which isn't specifically qualified, I look for the most reasonable interpretation of what was written. But some people seem to automatically leap to the least reasonable interpretation, assume that's what the writer meant, and then respond to it (and often refuse to accept a clarification, calling it "backpedaling"). Funny, but predictable I guess!

I'm not suggesting you're backpedaling at all. It was just a moronic thing to say.
