No, what they released last week was their manifesto and not a list of demands. Likewise, I've seen several places (including the nycgg page) where they talk about what those demands should be but I've yet to find anything about an official list dated before October 1st. My point is any defense attorney worth the five box tops they mailed in to get their license will say that the accusations of police misconduct were staged and false with the express intent to get as much attention for when they did release their list of demands.

It can be strongly suggested that they intentionally aggravated the police in order to draw media attention to their protest.

Yes, I understand that. I just don't get why that was randomly brought up again.

Because the thread title is "NYPD Police Brutality" and the timing of the demands seems awfully convenient in relation to those accusations.

If they had planned the brutality, wouldn't it make more sense for them to have the demands formulated to make use of the initial media surge?

No, because it would be completely drowned out by the initial accusations.

I suppose...

That still doesn't give any actual support to the case that the alleged brutality was caused intentionally by the protesters. The increased public awareness, support, protester population and media attention following the situation is enough to account for why a formal list of demands would be produced. Doesn't confirm or deny the scenario.

I think most people knew why they were there, they just didn't know what exactly brought everyone else.

Exactly, 'they' as a tongue-in-cheek collective term in this case. Smiley: wink

Mind tossing a little love to the guy who got rated down for doing exactly what you asked him to do? Or at least responding to my post?

Oh. And Iddigory? I'm still waiting for an argument as to why you think corporations being treated as persons under the law is a bad thing. I guess it just boggles my mind a bit when people have such strong feelings/positions about something but can't actually explain why.

You still haven't done anything to refute my original objection. You merely suggested that a corporate leader wouldn't want to use his corporation to exploit the people, because his wealth is still based on shares of the company. Which is largely not the case.

The top (human) shareholder for Wal-Mart has 10,498,480 shares. That's .05% of the company.

Of his estimated 21 billion in assets, Walmart accounts for about 500 million of it. That's 3%.

Yeah, he's NEVER going to use his company to exploit people, for fear of it taking his money with it.

Did the rating-up part, but too close to the end of the day to respond... wasn't really looking to respond, just curious as to what you thought. But thank you for your answer, it was pretty to-the-point.

No. I'm asking my fellow forum posters to do so. I don't have the same kind of loathing for those who disagree with me that some apparently do, and I don't think it's productive to any kind of conversation to make it about hating the other person.

Maybe if you found a webpage with well thought out and articulate arguments to copy and paste here you'd see the difference.
