What's the record for thread length here? That's got to be the only reason this fetid, rotting abortion of a thread is still going after forty-some-odd pages.

I have to disagree with you. At least a rotten abortion had the chance of becoming something before the wirehanger. Even the thread's swimmers were Special Olympics caliber.

Have we argued about abortion yet in this thread? Might want to do that in case there's someone who hasn't raged in this thread yet.

No, she wrote it correctly the first time. Try to keep up.

Given that no one outside of Allakhazam expresses that, I would say that my correction is more accurate. Unless that is, you can speak for people outside of Allakhazam? If so, who?

We never did a thread about it so I'll share my favorite take-away from the Susan G. Komen fiasco here:
"In one day, they managed to alienate half their supporters. In the next day, they managed to alienate the other half. What was so wrong three days ago that they needed to change?"

I don't remember the source but it summed the whole thing up wonderfully.

Give him a break. Real news stories use words, and The Onion use words. It's easy to get the two confused.

It's the only way to make people who don't let little things like reality affect them go away.

Not no more. Well, not no more the VP, I assume the woman is still against abortion.
Atlantic wrote:
Karen Handel, Susan G. Komen for the Cure's vice president for public policy, has resigned from the breast-cancer charity following a funding dispute involving Planned Parenthood, according to the Associated Press, which has obtained a letter that Handel sent out to the organization.

"I am deeply disappointed by the gross mischaracterizations of the strategy, its rationale, and my involvement in it," Handel wrote in the letter. "I openly acknowledge my role in the matter and continue to believe our decision was the best one for Komen's future and the women we serve."

Reporters have speculated about Handel's involvement since last week, when it was first announced that Komen would cut its funding from the controversial clinics, but Handel's admission is a new revelation in this ongoing story, and will likely re-ignite debates over whether or not this was a political decision. Last week, Susan G. Komen CEO Nancy Brinker denied that was the case, and Handel, who ran for governor of Georgia in 2010 on a pro-life platform, has kept quiet until now.

An AP source "with direct knowledge of decision-making at Komen's headquarters in Dallas" confirmed that new grant-making criteria, which would bar any organizations currently under investigation, were deliberately adopted to target Planned Parenthood. The network of clinics is the subject of a budgetary probe led by Florida Republican Cliff Stearns, chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

Hopefully people will continue finding other places for their charitable dollars. Couldn't have happened to a shittier organization.

God forbid we have another thread about teh gheyz so I'll leave this here:
LA Times wrote:
A federal appeals court Tuesday struck down California's ban on same-sex marriage, clearing the way for the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on gay marriage as early as next year.

The 2-1 decision by a panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals found that Proposition 8, the 2008 ballot measure that limited marriage to one man and one woman, violated the U.S. Constitution. The architects of Prop. 8 have vowed to appeal.
[...]
In a separate decision, the appeals court refused to invalidate Walker’s ruling on the grounds that he should have disclosed he was in a long term same-sex relationship. Walker, a Republican appointee who is openly gay, said after his ruling that he had been in a relationship with another man for 10 years. He has never said whether he and partner wished to marry.

There must have been a party waiting for the ruling to come out near my office building because as soon as it was announced, there was clapping, cheering and screaming. Now, onto a larger panel for the next appeal.
