Anita's would spawn more trolls and death threats.

For FUCK's sake Tirith. Poldaran's already had to bust someone's chops for posting without reading the rest of the thread - even if the intended recipient didn't know what the fuck he was talking about and declined to break up his Aiko soul-grove by listening to the linked video. Now you hit us with this.

One post above, Tirith. Or two posts above, either of those posts would have set you on the straight and narrow. But no, you ignored them both, intent on being a fuck-up. I am mad, and disappointed.

Apparently my phone never posted the response I made directly after to Samira about being busy stuffing my face with office thanksgiving potluck food and it taking 2-3 minutes to write in between mouthfuls of various salads and desserts. Smiley: lol

You know, I can't tell sarcasm from serious business anymore when it comes to this thread. There are too many feelings involved, and crazy is now a very real possibility. Don't take this the wrong way, Pold, because I'm seriously neutral in this debate, but did you really tear up over that tweet?

Like, really? I mean, I think it's wonderful that Mr. Wardell hasn't been harassed for two weeks, but really? How many Kleenex do you burn through reading the newspaper? Smiley: tongue

That Bloomberg article was interesting in itself. It began by stating simple fact that gaming is an industry that is more profitable than the movie business, but it hastened to to add that with great profits come great responsibilities ( inclusiveness, tolerance and overall bjs for everyone with the exception of, naturally, male heterosexuals -- the reason being, they already had enough).

I don't know. Right now, the only person who benefits is Anita for mediawhoring herself all over the opinion pages. Well, her and buzz that follows. You will never believe who threatened her now!!!

One of the sweetest people has lived through hell for years because of false accusations(accuser had to write court ordered public letter of apology level false accusations) after being crucified in the gaming press. Hell, the man wrote the Gamer's Bill of Rights and his company has been extremely pro-consumer for a long *** time. Because of events that probably never would have happened without Gamergate, he finally got an apology from at least one of the people who demonized him in the press(though not from Ben ******* Kuchera, who led the charge). So excuse me if I shed a tear of happiness for a nice person finally seeing a light at the end of a long dark tunnel.

Apparently they are mocking the anti-gg's who made a claim about some "sea lioning" (likely, a **** reference, as you say). And actually kick starting one of those "adopt an animal" charities. You know, turning something negative into a positive, embracing the nay sayers to do something sort of good.

Nah, the verb is reference to an internet comic, as far as I can tell the two are unrelated.

Yeah, it's actually a "harassment" tactic that involves politely and repeatedly asking people to give proof of what they're saying when they say egregiously silly things. This place does it to Gbaji all the time.

Everything outside of the parentheses was more or less on target, though.

It has been a while since I've invoked ancient OOT protocols, so forgive me if I am rusty. However, I believe that the proper way to express this is as follows.
Gamergate wrote:
Sea Lion GET. Smiley: grin

Also, due to upcoming FTC regulations, Gawker is going back and adding disclosure info to a bunch of old articles. I may have forgotten the olives, but this has not been a bad Thanksgiving at all. Now time to go have some cherry pie and watch more Digimon.

Okay, well, you probably should have opened with that paragraph instead of assuming I'd know this. I get that you're heavily invested in this entire thing, but others aren't. I have no clue who the guy is, and there were no videos of handicapped kittens being saved from drain pipes in the tweet, so my emotional investment was very minor.

So excuse me for asking.

I think I posted some stuff about him a few pages back, but I understand if you hadn't seen it. Edit: I did, but I apparently didn't talk about how much I like the guy's business practices and how nice a guy he is, though the article I linked did talk a fair bit about the awful **** he went through.

Edit: Another person's journey into Gamergate. I found it a rather good read.

Edit: I am really having trouble wrapping my head around the Claire Schumann debacle. If I figure out what the hell is going on, I'll let you know. Okay, so this is what I'm understanding. Take it with a grain of salt because I've had to piece it together from a bunch of different sources since her account is no longer there. Remember, what follows is my understanding and could be entirely wrong. I'm going to put the following in a spoiler box to separate it out.

Claire is an Anti-GGer who was open to reconciliation and wanted to engage with the more moderate people in order to facilitate discourse and end the hate. She seemed to fully believe that there are some harassers in the movement, but that they don't represent the entire thing. In fact, she thinks that there are harassers on both sides, but that both sides are doing the best they can to curb such behavior. The most important thing to her seemed to be moving past the negativity.

Then, a number of Antis(including the lady in the link above, who was the one creating all those blocklists) decided that since she didn't hold as harsh of an opinion of GG as they did, despite being on the same side, that meant she was also their enemy. In fact, they started calling her one of us. They dogpiled and bullied her until she couldn't take it anymore and deleted her Twitter account. GG was outraged and has been calling out their behavior all night. Surprisingly(at least to me, since I haven't seen any of them stand up to her before), a couple Antis have been doing the same.
