It would be cool if there was a "Quote" icon, perhaps near the reply icon at the top of each post, that redirected us to a reply window with that specific post's text already quoted.

Sometimes it is a little tedious to reply to chain quotes.

You can always just limit your quote to the last person who replied, but if someone is not paying attention or skimming they might possibly take a quote out of context and post a reply that doesn't make any sense.

I'm not saying that it happens that often or that it's a pressing issue, but it would be a nice feature.

We can already do that, with an extra step in there.

You click "Reply to Post" on any post you'd like to quote, then click "Quote Original" near "Mark up:".

It'd be nice if we could multi-quote, as has been requested a couple of times, though.

Ah, I never noticed that.
I always just though the reply button was there so you didn't have to scroll down to the bottom of the page.
I guess that is the reason that it doesn't automatically quote the post, because some people probably just use it as a short cut and don't necessarily want to do that.

Edit:
I think a quote button might still be useful though.
When making a post, before previewing or editing, you can still view the thread by scrolling down.
At this point selecting reply would just redirect you to a blank reply window, which wouldn't make much sense.
It seems like it would be advantageous to have the reply button change to a "Quote" button when you are already at the reply window.
The "Quote" icon could then be worked to copy, quote, and paste each post you click to the reply box already open without redirecting you to another blank reply window.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but there is a quote button next to color and before code. If you hit reply, then go and highlight any posts below the reploy box and hit the quote button, it pulls the text out and into a quote box.

Oh wow, I had no idea that you could do that either.
Using that method seems to not keep the quotes within a post intact though, and obviously doesn't say who made the quote.

In terms of functionality I think there could be a better way to quote multiple posts.
I'm really happy the Original Quote button though, I don't know how I had missed that.

Yeah, like I mentioned, it's been requested at least twice now.

Not sure if it'll ever happen though.

Yeah, for that sort of thing you'd need the quote original button.

I was looking through one of the threads that was linked in this thread and noticed that there was a quote checkbox by each reply but no "Reply to post" button--and then I realized that this was because the thread is locked. Is there any chance that the checkboxes can be removed from locked threads to avoid any confusion? >.<

By the way, thanks for adding in this feature. I'm sure I'll find it very useful soon enough.

Whoops, forgot to check that, fixed.

Works fine for me in live. F5? What browser/version if it's still not working?

Oh, ok, it works if i reply in the same tab.

The multi-quote thingy doesn't work if you have posts checked on one page then go to the next page of a thread to reply. Not sure if that's something that can be fixed or not, but just letting y'all know.

That's a known limitation. Implementing multi-page multi-quotes would be... interesting. I have ideas on how it could be accomplished but I'll have to think about it some more.

While you're at it, would it be possible to get it to work if you reply in a new tab/window?
