Bees are nasty, but down where my brother lives in TN, they have these red wasps. They are super aggressive, highly territorial, and pesticide resistant. They also have this nasty habit of swarming on someone if you try to take them out from too close.

I helped take down a nest with him once. It was insane. The second the chemical hit the nest, they swarmed and tried attacking the spray. Then they seem to realize the spray was coming from somewhere and started following the spray back to us.

Literally we had to spray for a few seconds then move...

So more than the humans are inbreeding in TN, cause those Red Wasps sound like they've crossbred with Fire Ants.

But yea, @#%^ those things. That article says they are docile then corrects itself because of some new @#%^nasty breed that showed up and crossbred in.

Well, I'm in Nashville proper and have no desire to go out to Murfreesboro or Woodbury. Still frightening though.

I was just talking to my husband last night about ways to artificially pollinate, well, everything (we were sitting on the deck looking at our freshly flowered peach tree and noting we'd not seen a bee in the yard all season). We've also tossed around the idea of setting up a few hives - we have a great spot for them. It's expensive though if you have to keep replacing bees each season.

If robo-bees can pollinate they ought to get the next super-hero spot.

Why would you assume a robotic insect wouldn't? Because it isn't programmed to? Have you not seen Terminator? Skynet would totally create robotic flying mosquito spiders.

Bees don't but some spiders do. Imagine that after a holiday to the tropics you come home and there's a bulge on your leg. You try to remember making an appointment with the doctor just in case but you forget because you don't really notice the bump.

Until it starts itching really bad one night, you start scratching and scratching and then the bump starts to move and once you've panicked enough to break open your skin out come a hundred baby spiders, crawling down your leg in a rush for freedom.
