Request that the guy be buried face down. That's what they did to Jesse James. Supposedly, so he could see where he was going.

An apundectomy would technically be the removal of puns... Not your finest work.

Right. so if you've had said removal of puns, you can't work as an admin here right? because you have no capacity for making bad puns.

I hear they carry out the surgery in Punjab, India, the only place in the world they are legally obligated to stab you for making bad pouns. I hear its a form of punishment there. That would cause utter pundamonium if you tried it here. That's just what I happun to think though.

Sorry to rerail this, but Locke, did she ever come forward with the rape thing? I'm asking because I'm a little confused as to why the entire town is praising him if he's a known rapist. I'm also not sure I understand why she suddenly has this urge to tell everyone that he's a douche bag. Assuming she didn't come forward, shouldn't she have told them back when he raped her?

In any case, she should save that story for her biography.

Even if she came forward, that doesn't always mean folks will believe her. Even with a conviction, there's no guarantee that many people won't assume he's still innocent.

Based on the OP, it sounds like she's hearing a lot of folks talk about "what a great guy he was", which probably is bringing up a lot of old feelings and memories. Seems perfectly logical to me that it's tearing her up inside hearing that.

What Poldaran said. She isn't wanting to ride into town waving a banner that says "this guy was a douche;" it's just distressing to see the huge groundswell of praise for the guy. Some folks in town are planning an event to remember him and to raise awareness of motorcycle safety (I approve of the second part at least).

No, she didn't come forward with the allegations when they happened. She resolved to move on and just bury the past. I personally thought she was making the wrong choice, but it would have come down to a case of "he said/she said" and she was so shaken up about it that she didn't think she could make it through a court case. Her issue is that after working so hard to get away from her past and move beyond it, it's suddenly back in her life. I feel bad for her, but there's not much she can do. Luckily she's not living in the same town any more; it would be a lot worse for her then.

Also, apparently the police are still receiving conflicting reports about who ran a light and caused the crash.

I have a huge number of lawyers/judges in my extended family and family friends. As appalling as the reality is, if a rape case is going to be a "he said/she said" matter, then in our current legal system, most victims would save themselves months or years of **** trauma by NOT going to trial. Rape trials are gruesomely hard on the alleged victim, and after the trauma of a rape, it's not worth piling on more trauma.

It's a huge moral dilemma all around because while not going to trial is usually in the very best interests of the present victim, there is the great problem of the offender feeling (and being) free to offend again.

It takes an extremely mentally strong and emotionally secure and stable woman or man to take a rapist to trial, and blaze the way for others.
