So, yeah, I'm back to playing Skyrim again. Rocking that "heavy armor, magic, greatsword" combo, because being a badass mage with a greatsword is the best thing ever. I've also been fiddling with some mods, so now my game is 100% more awesome and has 100% longer load times. Smiley: thumbsup

I've never played it, but everyone seems to love FF6. I personally like FF7 more than FF8, and I'm not a fan of FF9 (though a ton of gamers LOVE it). To be fair, I don't think I ever got through disc one of 9, so there's a lot there I never saw.

You can definitely find an emulator and play FF4, which would be worth it.

Find one for Final Fantasy Tactics while you're at it. Great game. And you can get the newer PSP version.

I adore FFX, but I have no clue how PS2 emulators are. Still, though, my favorite FF game.

FFXII is fine, but it's a weakish story, and the combat will probably feel stale now. I really like FFXIII, but plenty of people could take it or leave it.

You really should give 9 a fair chance Digg. The story is really good, and the main villain is the only one in the entire series I've played that actually is multi dimensional. He has character growth. It's weird! But weird in a good way.

4 and Tactics are definitely great games. What I have played of 6, it is good. I haven't played much though. Don't bother getting an emulator for X if you have a PS3. They're re-releasing it for the PS3 with X-2 in Dec. or January.

I only hate family gatherings when it's my family or someone else's family. And, of course, they have to be gathering.

Otherwise I cannot identify with you at all. Not at all.

I don't mind family gatherings if it's just my immediate family. Extended family, it depends on their behavior.

I like my parents and siblings and some aunts, uncles and cousins but there are too many others whom I just don't have a single thing in common with and my grandmother from my mom's side of the family as well as one of my mom's sisters just HAVE to tell you about all the mundane **** that's going on in their life that I don't care about. And my grandmother's memory is starting to get worse so she tells every story multiple times.

And I'll be spending the first Christmas day at that annoying aunt's place because her son is home. I get along with him so that's cool and he lives in Uganda now so he's not home often but it also means I have to spend an entire day sitting on their couch waiting for the whole thing to be over and eating the same food they make for every ******* event (and it only gets good at dessert because her husband is British and he'll make tasty British treats). And then in January it's my grandmother's birthday which inevitably means spending most of the day in a cheap hotel restaurant for a cheap buffet with disgusting soggy food prepared by apathetic teenagers, yay soggy fries, overcooked steak, starchy sauces and mushy mushrooms...

They're a pretty typical Christmas cookie in the states, so that could be a British thing, I guess.

I love me some FF9, but there are two things about this game I really hate. #1, the trance system. Some of the characters you don't even know what the flip their trance DOES, and I hate how you can't control when to use it. The other thing is how when you're doing the Chocobo Hot and Cold mini game, that if you are low on the timer and you have found an object you can lose it. I think they should let you continue to dig once an item has been found, even if the timer has run out. It's bull sh*t.
This, all of it. Smiley: grin

The getting cut off in the middle of digging thing didn't drive me as nuts as the "spinning in circles around the little pixel where the treasure is buried, and you can't quite find it" thing. Because that could go on for like 20 if your luck was bad. Of course, inevitably you'd find it, but then wouldn't have enough time to dig it out. It'd be a deep one too, so you knew it was something good. Smiley: glare

I need to give 2-handers another serious try at some point. I always have trouble giving up the extra stats that come with a shield, or the ability to fight and heal at the same time. It is fun one-shotting things though. Smiley: grin

If it helps it's a lot like the old one at least. A bit more Skyrim, a bit less WoW, and no pictures of people hanging from meat hooks yet. But I imagine we'll get there soon enough.

Hardly, it's just that most social situations are extremely exhausting for me so I'm rather selective on who I hang out with.

Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Stupid biopsy on a mole came back as it being pre-cancerous, so now I have to go in and let them scoop a bunch of flesh out of my soldier, just in case. Smiley: glare

Best part is that it's the day before I had a follow-up appointment for my acne, and it's unclear if they'll be able to do both in the same day. Though I might be able to get my prescription refilled, and then do the follow-up two weeks later, when my sutures get removed.

I really don't want to pay the stupid $40 copay two days in a row, plus whatever the co-insurance for this procedure is...

I'll be honest with you; two-handers suck so hard. It's not that the animations are bad - I like those - but Bethesda did a major cheese-up when they created the game: They never thought people would get Daedric weapons and smith/enchant the BALLS out of them. One-handed weapons actually beat two-handed weapons in DPS once you get to 100 smithing and crap. Makes no sense. Two-handers are slow, can block (sort of), but you sacrifice a lot of armor rating and the ability to use your left/right hand for anything other than BIG *** SWORD/AXE.

Anyway, if you want to give two-handed a go, I highly recommend getting this mod: Two-handed rebalance

What it does is add two new perks to the two-handed skill tree: One that increases your swing speed by 15/20% and one that increases the effectiveness of your two-handed weapon block by 30%. The increase in swing speed makes smithing and enchanting upgrades worth more when using a two-hander, and the increase in block means you're not dead the moment someone sneezes in your general direction.

My ultimate goal with this two-handed battlemage thing is to get some Daedric gear, pimp the sh*t out of it with magicka enchants and then go to town on dragons, demons and undead alike with my UNLIMITED POWER lightning hands. The sword is there for when (not if) I run out magicka and/or need the thrill of decapitating some wicked wench after she gives me lip.

Totally! If you can't get the job done with one hand, then you're doing it wrong.
