The first boss is soloable

By solo-able I assume you mean incredibly easy.

The second time I want after the guy, I killed him pretty easily. My warrior was still (and still is) only level 11 but I'd added the crystal things to my weapon and my tunic. I was about 1/3 health when the beast died.

It was easily the hardest encounter yet in the game, but really compared to the number of attempts I've made on other bosses in other games, nailing it on the second attempt would still land it in the sort of easy column.

What has made this game so incredibly easy so far as been the lack of agro from hostile mobs. They really only agro if you start getting sloppy with the area effects. Is there proximity agro in more difficult areas?

Yup.

Fast respawn times too, which can be really annoying.

Ah ok, I guess some of the other classes must have a rougher fight with that boss. My mystic didn't dip below 80% for the whole fight.

Like Protein said at later levels agro gets more touchy. My 40 sorc just finished the dungeon/maze quest for that level (I forget the area name), and it's packed with back to back mobs, so if I'm unlucky (which I have been many times) I'll dodge backwards into mobs that, have respawned in a short time. Then I kite them around, get more adds, either win with a low HP left, or I get a free 'ranger gate' to the city.

For what it's worth I had a much easier time with the mystic and priest. The lancer felt a bit easier than the berzerker too, but I can't really think of any reason why, could have just been less impatient that time around perhaps? Between the pet and the DoT spell the mystic has been a blast to solo stuff with. If only they wouldn't respawn so fast. Smiley: frown

Also, something about the bad habit of jumping back into stuff on the priest. Two reverse hops and I'm suddenly aware that leaping backwards means you're not watching where you are going, and that has consequences... Smiley: lol

As mentioned, you have more proximity aggro and you also see a lot of "linked" mobs that travel in pairs and can't be fought one at a time. It's not usually a big deal since (so far) they've been normal mobs but when you're fighting the two and aggro another via proximity, you now have four mobs, etc. These are normal style mobs, not the minion swarms you clear with a single AoE attack.

Well I just did the 2nd dungeon on my Berserker, and what a pain in the *** that was. We had all melee DPS, and with all the body blocking on, and no fast way to maneuver on Berserker, it was really frustrating to say the least. Want to reposition so you're not in front of the big group of mobs? Backpedal and strafe around. Running in to engage and want to use your awesome leapsmash of goodness? Too bad that the Slayer is running in front of you, because while the animation takes you into the air, there's no vertical component to your jumpsmash, you can and will get caught on every single pixel's worth of blockage.

With the Berserker's long charge times, sometimes you need to be charging and moving at the same time. It's super annoying to have all sorts of party members in your way as you try to get in range before you can't hold the charge and then just whiff the air. This might be the first serious problem I've had with the game. Could be that I'm just not used to it, since most MMOs that I've played don't body block, at least not in PvE.

Generally thus far(albeit only at level 20), that's been my tactic with the sorceress. Aggro 6 or so mobs, round em into a tight pack and burn them all down at once.

as a priest, i say "bring em on!". AoE is the best way to play that class ive found. The single target dps is so meh, you're better off riding around gather every mob in the vicinity and just AoEing them all. Helps that a priest never runs OOM and can heal :P

I AoE cut them down with my Slayer as well. I was just differentiating them from the minion swarms you see on Isla de la Newbie.

It's funny reading through this. Everyone thinks the game is easy until they start getting about 35-40. Both solo and instance content really picks up in the challenge level.

The higher level 5 mans have raid boss mechanics even. Like move over that part of the room when the beams cross. Ranged pick up those adds and keep them off the healer. If Lancer goes down War taunt and switch while priest rez... etc.

As much as all this is still tempting me to log back in I just DLed Batman Arkam City last night instead as part of my "work on my backlog" mission. I can't even remember which steam sale I bought it heh.

God I hope so. Otherwise I'll probably get too bored of my sorceress to keep playing her.

Just like a real MMORPG! Smiley: wink2

I think there's a fair progression so far in the dungeons. More of a jump from SM to CR than there was from BoL to SM. Right now I still wouldn't call it "hard" but I could see it making the jump as I go up to the next tier.

Speaking of tiers, I noticed that I practically skipped over T6 gear completely. I think I got three pieces of T6 gear from drops or rwards and then started seeing T7 stuff right away. Previously, I'd wind up with piles of the stuff banked for progressing alts -- I think I banked one piece of T6.

I have a feeling I am going to call Berserker quits once I start getting to more challenging fights. It's just so immobile, and I will just get too frustrated when I am stuck on slower-reacting party members.
