wars sound epic (and look it from what ive seen on youtube).

however Ive heard things about em I wanted to confirm.

Now usually in a real war two sides are fighting to gain something (territory, supplies, better places to make money selling drugs etc etc)

supposedly 95% of the wars in EVE are fought with absolutely nothing to gain and are really just ppl throwing money away (all the ships that get destroyed) for no cause other than a **** contest. is that true?

Also supposedly most of the wars fought never get won and just end with one or both sides getting bored and deciding to go find something else to do. Is any of that accurate?

Is this about video games or reality? Because yeah pretty much.

In my experience, war in EVE skews pretty close to how many real-life conflicts go. They're mostly battles of attrition, and the "win" scenario usually involves one side wearying of the loss, worming out of the conflict, and then claiming some sort of victory. Much of it involves pointless conflict where everyone suffers from the proceedings. There are also proxy battles, underhanded dealings and maneuvers, spying, and sketchy justifications for battle.

Sounds about right to me.

There's also the financial incentive for the warmakers, with some fleet commanders being paid a salary for full-time military alliance leadership.
