Carbineer - weakest combat classFollow

#1 Jan 13 2004 at 5:14 AM Rating: Decent
I am trying to master carbineer atm - but it is verry frustrating. This class just sucks, or maybe I am to stupid to play it right.

With carbine speed only +35 every special shot takes about 2 to 3 seconds.

Scattershot seams to be bugged because when using it, the combat chat tells me EVERY TIME!!! "you make 1 (yes one) point of damage".

The knockdown shot is totaly useless, because even without timer your target is back on his feet within no time und with only +35 to carbine speed it takes 4 ever to shot another knockdown.

If anyone got any tips or hints how I can improve so it is fun to play carbineer pls. tell me - otherwise I will stop to try mastering this crap profession

thx

The best tip I can give you is to make sure you are fighting good size critters for your current skills/weapons/special attacks....the biggest critter is NOT the best target all the time nor is the smallest....I perfer to take my acid based carbine to Dantoonie and blast away at voritor that i have trapped with phesanean darts (sp?)....yes that means i have level 4 trapping....but it stops the critter in his steps and gives me time to back away from him...also dont spamm the specials...you will need to be ready to throw another trap when he breaks free of the first....if you dont have trapping try very very hard to get in a group with pets or melee characters and let them tank for you...if your not getting good xp then you are fighting either above or below the level you should...make sure you are taking advantage of the critters weakness...goodluck too ya

I'm playing a twi'lek dancer/commando myself, but I've heard that a commando with a carbineer can team up to take down a Krayt dragon.. they have some ability that stabilises the target and are able to stay at quite a safe distance in order to remain safe and let the commando eventually kill the creature with their flamethrower... i believe that every class in the game has its own strengths, you just need to find out what these are for each profession. Don't give up if you think it's the right one for you.

I tried Carbineer pretty much as an afterthought and I can't stop playing the character :)!. With its multiple HAM bar specials and good hitting power, Carbines are pretty snazzy. I've even gotten over the sometimes horrendous HAM costs with a Few dozen Stim B's LOL.

And with some Carbine (and othe Profs too!) changes and reworks in the future, these problems will be ironed out.

You are not alone HAR. I am a 4443 Pistoleer, and got Carbineer from my first holocron. I am having the same issues. I easily got novice carbineer by popping the lairs of my level 25 Pistoleer missions (giant sand beetles on tat mostly), but have really hit a wall since. I can't figure out the best special combos, or even decide what the best type of carbine is. Can anyone provide some advice on things like which carbine path to complete first, best mobs to hunt at novice level, and weapon of choice. Also, as mentioned above, the HAM costs seem extremely high. I've seen one decent carbineer guide, are there any more out there (links would be cool)? Any help wold be greatly appreciated.

I am not going carbineer, but I am working towards master BH. the LLC rules, and scatter gun was fun. BH Carbine bites. It is slow and doesn't seem to be as effective as other weaps (In my opinion). I use a DXR and also a laser carbine. I have tried hunting different places. I think the gurreck on Endor gave some of the best xp for carbine, because they didn't take forever to kill and the XP was good. This was my impression anyway. I also hunt voritor on Dant with the DXR. I cannot wait to finish this tree. Holo willing I will never use a carbine again. Sorry if I offend some of ya'll die hard carbineers, but I don't like them. There are so many other weaps that seem to be more effective.

Well I started at Carbines 3 a little over a week ago, and over a couple days of intense grouping sessions at the Mining Outpost on Dantooine, I am now at 1111 Carbineer. I had all of the major Carbine Weapons (Laser Carbine, DXR6, EE3, and Elite) at the start and spent most of the time using the DXR6. Some of the creature weaknesses vary, so be sure to examine every beast you fight too determine the best Carbine to use to maximize XP. Pikets, Thunes, and some of the Voritor species are susceptible to Acid based weapons like the DXR6, so I focused on them heavily. I focused on the first three on the bottom row, all the while building up the Combat XP for the Intermediate Carbine Special Abilities skill. I had enough Combat XP half way through the first skill on the second tier of Carbineer.

My favorite Carbine Specials to use are the Full Autofire attacks. They do a good amount of damage (I've maxed out at 1300 damage at the Novice Carbineer level LOL) and they hit multiple HAM bars too.

A word to the wise, make sure you have tons of Stim B, and I mean tons! I went through at least 250 or so Stim Bs since starting at the Carbines 4 and up. The HAM costs are just sick (in a disgusting way LOL)

My advice would to get a carbine sliced to do a max of 395 dam. don't worry about anything else.

Then somehow get some thing tank for you. If you are going ch then the best choice for a low level one that I have found is a desert eopie. 3200 ham about 160-170 dam, only ch level 16.

After you get a tank, get it to attack and start spamming full auto single 1 (the carbines 2 skill under marksmen). I averaged about 500 damage with it and topped out at 1.2k of damage at carbines 3 :}

Make sure you don't have any armor on. (shouldn't need it with tank). It will just take away from your secondary action stats.
