As many of you may have guessed, I like reading. Quite a lot. As such, I want to see what you folks can do. And I'm willing to put out a little incentive to see it. So without further ado, I bring you...

Poldaran's 2nd Annual Ghoulish Halloween Story Contest

Yes, the name still needs work. And I still could really use large and blink tags for this. Oh well.

Rules
1)In general, I want there to be a minimal of limitation on your creativity. As such, I'm asking only that the stories you submit be set in the World of Warcraft and either
A. Set in a creepy place/have a creepy tone to the story
or
B. Involve a monster vaguely associated with Halloween

That's it. The story can be comedic, scary, adventure-filled, whatever tickles your fancy. WoW has a great number of creepy settings(Duskwood, Plaguelands, Silverpine, etc) and monsters that are associated with Halloween(werewolves, ghosts, zombies, skeletons, etc) to choose from.

2)All entries must be submitted to me by the deadline, which is Sunday, October 31st at 12:00pm(Noon) Mountain Time.

3)Limit one entry per person.

4)Length: I'm setting a minimum of 1000 words. As a maximum, your story can be however long it takes you to tell the tale.

5)Stories about me or any of my characters will be considered immediately ineligible. Yes, this applies to Kavekk. It especially applies to Kavekk.

Eligibility
Anyone may enter. If you have an Allakhazam account, no matter how long you've been an Allakhazam member, you may enter. That said, there are two sets of people who are not eligible for prizes(I will add a section for non-eligible stories in case these folks want to participate). Those not eligible for prizes:
1)Zam.com Admins(they wouldn't benefit from the prize anyway)
2)Poldaran(because hey, that wouldn't be fair of me to hold a contest then win the prize, right?)

Prizes
-Grand Prize: 6 month Zam premium membership. Remember that this premium will also allow you to access premium features at a number of Zam network sites as well.

Judging
Shortly after Sunday, October 31st at 12:00pm(Noon) Mountain Time, I will post a poll with links to all entries. This contest will be decided by the votes of the community here on Allakhazam.com. Voting will end at 8am Mountain Time on November 2nd, which is when I'll sit down and begin working on the thread congratulating the winner(s). In the event of a tie, the winner will likely be chosen via a coin flip, though I reserve the right to award both winners in that event if I decide to do so.

In case anyone's getting the bright idea to create sock accounts to vote multiple times in the contest, well, I think you'll find that the admins will disabuse you of that notion with a gusto, and you can't win if you're banned for creating socks.

How to Enter
First you must either post your story into the Allakhazam Wiki or in My Journal(create a new thread for your story). After posting it, you must send me a PM with a link to your entry. For my benefit, make the subject of the PM "Halloween Story Contest Entry". Remember to get them in by the deadline!

By posting your entry in my journal, you give permission to someone to wikify your entry for you, probably to this category.

I won't hold it against you. I've been laughing at the words "Humpty Lock" all day.

I'll say it does, but the contest states "Set in the World of Warcraft", not "WoW Related". Smiley: tongue

Ohh, okay...

"wher r i?" Troktokone pondered as he walked into Orgrimmar, slightly dazed. Being a Nub he had never visited the city before, let alone left the Valley of Trials, so he was unsure where to go with his inquiry. "puyhaps teh innkeep no it" he thought, accidentally blurting it out loud for everyone to hear. Ignoring the facepalming Orc guard, Troktokone stumbled into the inn. The innkeeper was nowhere to be found, so Troktokone decided to ask a gathering of Trolls at a nearby table. "scuse me hi how r u 2day i looking for cataclysm im so eccited" he said, approaching the Troll group. The Trolls, deep in conversation, did not notice Troktokone until he bumped into one of them, spun around and fell flat on his back on the table. Cross-eyed and with a slightly foaming mouth, Troktokone looked at the baffled group. "hi how r u plz i can have key for cataclysm," Troktokone stated. The Trolls eyed each other, unsure what exactly was going on. "CAN I HAS KEY FOR BETA!" Troktokone yelled out, foamy drool running down his cheeks and eyes rolling as if they had a will of their own.

"Wha' be dis, mon?" one Troll said to another. "Da Nub been drinkin' too deep from da mojo?" the other Troll suggested. Troktokone, growing increasingly impatient, tried to pull himself to an upright position, but instead ended up on the floor with a loud *THUMP*. "WHY GIEF KEY NOT FOR ME?!" he cried, flopping around on the floor like a fish on land. Suddenly, the room fell silent and the air went still in the inn. Troktokone, still trying to move around on his belly, pushed himself back on his back and looked directly up at a huge, armor-clad city guard. The guard was flanked by other, smaller and less armored guards, so Troktokone immediately deduced that this guard must be the one who held the key to the Cataclysm. "HAI U CNA U GIEF KEY BETA?!" Troktokone yelled at the large brute. The guard captain grunted and as if he had issued a command the guards on his sides immediately rushed to Troktokone and pulled him on his feet. Now safely stabilized by the guards, Troktokone staggered towards the captain and opened his mouth as if to say something. Before a word left his mouth, however, the captain vigorously placed a plate mail covered fist in Troktokone's face. The guards hurried out of the inn with the Nub and the captain of the guard turned his attention to the rest of the inn and declared in a loud voice "Thread closed!"

Rejected for not being long enough. Smiley: tongue

I imagine it hurts you just as much to write it as it does for me to read it, so I'm gonna keep making you redo it until you get bored of it.

Have no fear, Mazra. I hear there are pills that can fix that problem.

I wish I was creative enough at writing. I've thought about trying to sit down and write something up. Maybe before Halloween I will get something, but not sure.

A quick bump to remind you all to get those stories in!

Only one so far, though I've had PMs from a couple other folks letting me know they planned to do something.

If the characters the pronouns refer to are inferred to be one of my characters as personified by the reader rather than a general reader representation character, then yes. If not, then go for it.
