Hrm. If I recall correctly, the TOS for FFXI says that children under 13 are not permitted to play the game, even with parental permission. I believe also that an account with a child under 13 playing on it can be suspended.

That was truly amazing, Cillranchelo. :{D

Slightly off topic but:

did I read correctly that you have a friend in-game who is 8 years old ... ?

I thought under 13s weren't meant to be playing the game ... ?

EDIT: Just noticed this has been already mentioned. But still, I'm sure I read that it's against game rules for under 13s to play the game.

I petitioned a GM about your post. I told him that it hurt my eyes and was interfering with my forum reading experience. He said that I did not not have to read your post and to blist you so I would not have to read any further posts written by you.

LOL!! Just kidding. I understand how you feel about snotty people. They are irritating. I also defend your right to take a poison potion and die. But, so did the GM. He was on your side. The other suiciders were on your side. The only one not on your side was one snotty person who called a GM. If you are going to play, then you will just have to deal with the occasional jerk.

Then you should have started to reply, but then realized that you had nothing productive to add, and stopped.

warranted a massive rate-down? I didn't even mention anything about how the initial poster's gr4mm0r is teh sux0r. Well, even though the post that was rated down stated absolutely no opinion about the rule, I would like to suggest now that anyone who wants to play with 7-year-olds should go hang out at Chuck E Cheese's. It is my opinion that the game should be 18+. But that's beside the point.

I did recall correctly. Straight from the PlayOnline Member Agreement: "Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to use any PlayOnline Service." For those of you that signed the proverbial dotted line without reading it, you can find the PlayOnline Member Agreement at https://secure.playonline.com/supportus/index03.html

You can't block people from going through an entrance by standing in front of it.

They will temporarily get in your way, but if you keep walking, you'll pass right through them.

in this case, that was a noob, not a newbie.

I honesty agree Slycooperofwindy about WHM's who don't heal. Unless I'm on a chocobo, or out of MP I will heal and most the time, cast a protect on a low level new avatar if they need it. I will almost NEVER refuse someone who is on the verge of dieing and losing a substantial ammount of XP, and depending where I am, I will even get off my chocobo.

But I am usually inclined to be too nice (When I get to lvl 36, I'm going to be one of those who doesn't charge for Tele's. I already don't charge for D2.).

I also, however, agree with Cybelus on the fact that people really should be atleast 17+ to play. I am tired of seeing a group of 15 year old's in Kazhaam being PL'ed to 30 to get advanced jobs (was happening today). People will never show proper party dynamics, proper maturity, and proper playing skills if they never learn them. Power Leveling people keeps those people from learning key points in the game.

P.S. Sorry for the O.T.-ness! ^^

As a WHM, if I see someone in a battle, and it looks like they might lose the battle, ( and aren't trying to blood port) I will toss a heal or two their way.

I HATE the people who expect you to heal them so that they don't have to rest though. Not those that are in my party, I understand the whole TP thing. But there is this particular DRG on my server, I come across him all the time farming. He will be standing there, half life, and ask for a cure. The first time I did it, threw a cure II, and his life bar barely moved! I dunno what lvl he is, but it's obviously quite high.(hes always anon)

So tell me this- why should I tap out my MP so that some random guy doesn't have to rest but I do? My time isn't as valuable as his?

As to the whole suicide protest thing- what were you protesting, no cures or the fact that they wanted you to move from where you were sitting trying to sell stuff? Also, what did a bunch of you dying do for your cause anyway?

Hell yea it's worth a rate down! REMEMBER... those who are not allowed to play don't like you telling them it's a no-no. Many of those who shouldn't be playing are also lurking here cut to the bone by your heavy dose of reality. They also rate!

Actually, if I were the LS holder, I would also have kicked him. It's like... harboring a fugitive or something.

Also, at first, I was in total agreement with the title. I clicked on it, and waded my way through the initial post. I thought he was giving an example, and it was kinda funny. Saying this kinda post needs to stop... then read a little more to find he was serious. Kinda lost interest... :D

I have been known to hold mass suicides in San d'Oria. Some people set off fireworks; I kick the bucket. It gives everyone something to laugh about when you drop dead in front of the AH, and my bazaar tends to get more visits when I'm dead.

That being said, it costs about 1k for a poison potion. If someone sees me uncork one in the middle of the city, chances are they know what's about to happen and refrain from curing me/using poisona. Doing so in my book is the basic equivalent of casting on someone while they're crafting. It's entirely possible that the WHMs you were protesting were trying to be courteous to you by not interrupting your activities.

I think maybe you're also taking it too personally when a WHM doesn't cure/raise you. It's possible that in other situations where you have not been cured and died as a result, that the WHM was not aware that you were about to die, or perhaps wasn't quick enough with their macros to save you. Maybe the WHM was doing a quest with a time limit, or was being pressured by a group to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. These are situations where a WHM may have wanted to help you, but was not in a position to.

There are some WHMs who will not want to help you simply because it's not their responsibility. There's nothing wrong with that; a WHM is nobody's servant. In the end, unless you have an agreement with the WHM -- i.e. you two are partied, or you have paid for a raise/powerlevel -- no mage is obligated to help you out.

Well at least there are ppl who have emotions and feelings around here. Well heres everything in a nut shell: Basicly my lil 8 year old freind got chewed out by some high lvl about being immature. The only thing he was doing if fooling around with this girl he liked online and she knew his real age. Then he caused the major linkshell war in which the person who chewed my freind out booted everyone from the LS. The problom was that he was not the lead i am sure many of you have heard of the Lastcrusaders linkshell. Well the owners of the linkshell are related the husband plays the mom plays there kid play all at once. So they made a "Family freindy linkshell". So the basic is no cussing things like that now the reason the ls leader let him in is because he was a kid and she thought this would be a good place for him. Now i am suprised at the kid because i was about lvl 19 and he was 17 and i took a break from playing for a week to finish other games. ((*ish still working on FF VII*)) Well in that weeks time he got his sub lvled it enough and got to 25. I was amazed this kid can play this game.

Now there is my thing. I did not take a posion potion with my war sub I took it with a lvl 1 blm. I also did not take it the first time. I zoned a crawler and i got posioned I had like 15 HP left so i saw a WHM and asked him to cure me. He asked for gill and items I typed i didnt have much gill as fast as I could. He said to bad and wached me die.

Thats the sum of everything in a nut shell.
