This guide is to help you level your first aid as efficiently as possible. Being that first aid is fairly easy to level as professions go, this guide should make it even easier for you. It will also provide you with a general idea of how much cloth you will need to get your skill up. However, keep in mind that the amounts listed here are primarily guidelines and the number of cloth pieces you use will probably vary somewhat.
Contents [hide] |
The first step is to find your nearest first aid trainer and start it up. Once this is done, you are ready to collect/farm all that cloth you'll need to create bandages (linen bandage is the very first recipe you will get from your trainer). A list of humanoids that have a good percentage of cloth drops is included and available in the database as well. if you don't want to farm lower level mobs or spend endless hours killing greens for cloth drops, you can just buy it at the auction house but you are at the mercy of the current AH price ranges, which can be quite steep at times.

In the following table you will find a list of bandages and levels at which they turn green (or "trivial"). However, in some instances, bandages will need to continue to be created while they are "green", such as Netherweave and, with the new expansion, Frostweave, because the next skill isn't obtainable when the item initially becomes trivial.
Item | Trivial Level | Item | Trivial Level |
---|---|---|---|
Linen Bandage | | Heavy Linen Bandage | |
Wool Bandage | | Heavy Wool Bandage | |
Silk Bandage | | Heavy Silk Bandage | |

After you get to skill level of 150, your faction's first aid trainers will no longer teach you new first aid recipes - you'll need to travel to a specific vendor or location (such as Hammerfall in Arathi) to get your next set of skills.
If you are Alliance you will need to travel to Stromgarde (Arathi Highlands) and purchase Expert First Aid - Under Wraps from Deneb Walker. Right click this book in order to level your first aid to 225. While you're there, it's probably also a good idea to buy Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage and Manual: Mageweave Bandage so that you don't have to go running all over the globe when you're ready to learn these formulas.
If you are Horde you will need to travel to Brackenwall Village (Dustwallow Marsh) and purchase Expert First Aid - Under Wraps from Balai Lok'Wein. Once you've right clicked the book and learn the skill you will be able to level your first aid up to 225. It's also a good idea to buy Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage and Manual: Mageweave Bandage so that you have both ready when you are able to learn these formulas.
After reaching the skill level of 225 you must complete a first aid quest in order to be able to raise your skill to 300. It is important to note that in order to obtain the quest you must have your first aid skill at 225 and your character must be at least 35.
Alliance: If you are Alliance you must travel to Ironforge and obtain the quest “Alliance Trauma†from Nissa Firestone, the first aid trainer in Ironforge. Nissa is located in the Great Forge in the upstairs of the Ironforge Physician.
Once you have obtained the quest you must then travel to Theramore (Dustwallow Marsh) to speak with Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen. Once you are there turn in the quest “Alliance Trauma†and accept “Triage.†Once you accept the quest be prepared to start it immediately. In order to successfully complete the quest you must heal 15 patients (which spawn on the beds in the room after the quest has started) before 6 die. VanHowzen will give you bandages to use on the patients, drag the bandages to one of your action bars to make a hotkey so that you are able to quickly heal the patients.
The easiest way to complete this quest is to stand in the middle of the room and just turn in a circle to heal the patients, you need not move your character much if at all. If order to heal the patients all you have to do is have one targeted and right click on the stack of bandages. You may fail on your first attempt, which is no big deal. You can restart the quest immediately and try until you are successful.
Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen will also be your trainer for Heavy Mageweave Bandage, Runecloth Bandage, and Heavy Runecloth Bandage...you must simply visit him and train your skills once you are the appropriate first aid level.
Directions to Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen: The easiest way to get to Theramore from Ironforge is to fly to Menethil Harbor and take the boat directly to Theramore. Once in Theramore standing at the docks, follow the road to the right, it will keep running right until it ends at the entrance to Foothold Citadel. Walk into the citadel, take a right, and then turn left and you will see VanHowzen.
Horde: The Horde must travel to Orgimmar and obtain “Horde Trauma†from Arnok, the first aid trainer in Orgimmar. Arnok is located in the Valley of Spirits.
Once you have received the quest you must then travel to Hammerfall (Arathi Highlands) to speak with Doctor Gregory Victor. Once you are there turn in “Horde Trauma†and accept “Triage.†Once you accept this quest the “event†will start immediately. The quest is exactly the same as the Alliance, you must save 15 patients before 6 die. You will receive a stack of bandages, make a hotkey on your action bar so you can click them quick.
Stand in the middle of all the patients (so you don't have to run your character much if at all), target a patient, right click the stack of bandages, and repeat until you have healed 15. If you fail, don't worry, you can restart the quest immediately until you are successful.
Victor will also be your trainer for Heavy Mageweave Bandage, Runecloth Bandage, and Heavy Runecloth Bandage...just visit him when you are ready to train the next first formula.
Directions to Doctor Gregory Victor: Stand at the entrance to Hammerfall and turn left. The building (with a fence around it) to the left of you is where you will find Victor. How to Level First Aid after Reaching Skill Level 300
To get your first aid skill level past 300 you must purchase Master First Aid-Doctor in the House from a vendor. This vendor will also have the formulas for Netherweave Bandage and Heavy Netherweave Bandage.
Alliance: If you are Alliance you may purchase the necessary formulas from Burko in the Temple of Telhamat (Hellfire Peninsula). From the main entrance of the temple, run up two sets of stairs and turn left, follow the road to a little building and you will see Burko.
Horde: If you are Horde you may purchase the necessary formulas from Aresella in Falcon Watch (Hellfire Peninsula).
