DPS (WoW)  

DPS is a gamer-created acronym for Damage Per Second. In World of Warcraft, this acronym is only applied to certain character classes and character builds.

Any class can do DPS, but as they say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Meaning, if you were to be a Hunter and you were dueling a rogue, your greatest DPS would be to move away from the rogue and shoot at him with a ranged weapon.

Warriors and Paladins can do decent DPS with the Arms talent tree for Warriors, and the Retribution talent tree for Paladins. However, these are not recommended talent builds for these classes seeing as they are both essentially tank classes.
