New West Coast Dragon Nest Server Coming

Dragon Nest's server list is going to get a new addition tomorrow, August 2 with the launch of a West Coast server named Elena. This move will give each coast two servers, which should hopefully help alleviate any population issues on the Velskud server.

Use Our Dragon Nest Armory and Win Nexon Points!

Dragon Nest's open beta kicks off today, and we're celebrating by giving $500 worth of Nexon Points to players who contribute to our new Dragon Nest Armory site! Our database is the perfect tool to help you make the most of your time in Nexon's latest action MMO. We have detailed information on everything from items and skills to classes and monsters, and we're constantly updating it with data directly from the game.

Even though we have access to Dragon Nest's data, contributions from our users will help flesh out our database and make it as informative as possible. That's why we're splitting $500 worth of Nexon Points among our top 12 contributors for the next week! Every time you add something to the Dragon Nest Armory, you'll earn a token. Here's how it works:

  • Earn 3 tokens by uploading an original screenshot to the site. If you take the screenshot from another source, you'll be disqualified. Example: If you find the Ambusher Dark Elf in-game, take a screenshot and upload it to the monster's page so other players will know what it looks like.
  • Earn 2 tokens by making a comment. Any comment that is deemed inappropriate or deleted by the Armory staff will not be counted toward the token total. Example: Comment on the Ambusher Dark Elf's page and let players know about its attacks or other characteristics.
  • Earn 1 token by rating a comment. Example: If you see a comment on the Ambusher Dark Elf's page that's helpful, rate it up. If it's poor, rate it down.

The top 12 contributors with the most tokens by Monday, August 1 at 11:59 p.m. PDT will earn some Nexon Points, which can be used to purchase in-game items and other rewards. The top two contributors will each receive $100 worth of Nexon Points; the next five will each earn $35 worth of points; and the final five will each get $25 worth of points. To receive your Nexon Points in-game, you must have an account in good standing with Nexon. We will ask for the account names of the winners at the end of the contest so the Nexon Points can be applied.

While you're browsing through our Dragon Nest Armory to make contributions and earn your tokens, be sure to check out our brand new Skill Calculator! You can use it to plan out the skills for Dragon Nest's four classes and eight sub-classes. See you in the open beta and make sure to grab those screenshots!

Dragon Nest Lead Producer Explains Quest Creation

In the latest Dragon Nest blog entry, Lead Producer Desmodeus covers how the team develops quests and ties them together with interesting stories. After explaining that quests must drive the story forward, give players an objective and reward them with items, Desmodeus gives an example that showcases the game's tone:

"Dragon Nest as a whole doesn’t take itself that seriously, so there are going to be plenty of light-hearted quests. One early quest, for instance, consists of you trying to retrieve a bulldog from the dungeon where it’s wandered, and return the pooch to its owner. Overall, though, the point is to present stories in ways that make sense and create memorable and consistent characters."

Desmodeus goes on to explain that "once the basic storyline of the quest is decided on, one person is designated as the 'Keeper' of the quest." Of course, all the work could end up being scrapped if the quest isn't working out or someone comes up with a better idea.
